Does anyone think the Swiftcast nerf was too harsh for BLM?

These BLM nerfs are honestly getting out of hand. The CC nerfs I understand. Scathe nerfs, ok I guess. Lethargy/blizzard nerfs, kinda getting annoying. Now swiftcast? Are the japanese gods at playing BLM or something? Is Yoshi slowly taking off his BLM cosplay at the EU fanfest a hint on what is going to happen?

This basically makes flare useless, and swiftcast flare was a bread and butter ability. Who the hell even lets a BLM slowcast a flare? Swiftcast was also one of the only things along with equiamnity and surecast to make sure you can actually get some damage out. Now all it's useful for is to CC or maybe throw out a thunder3.

90% of the BLMs I see can't even break 30k damage in a frontlines match. How about next patch we remove sprint from BLMs too? Because after this patch summoner will be superior in pretty much every way minus sleep.

Edit: And almost forgot that healers have a 10% extra resistance to magic now, and caster LB has been nerfed too. At this rate, casters in the party are just dead weight. Sure CC is good and all, but you aren't going anywhere without actual big bursts of damage.

They should probably remove the 10% increase in dps you received in 2.3 too.

Well now u have 2 use ur swiftcast for the cc. once ur opponent is in the cc u can cast what ever cast you want(if opponent do not use purify or team mates nuking em). You have 2 remember u still have the best control in the game like 40% heavy, 20% heavy/slow, large area bind(freeze) that can be used behind pillars, blizzard2 and sleep + pvp instant sleep. Defensive is way more superior than summoners too because of shields, aetherial manipulation and all that cc. If we compare what summoners have? Tri disaster bind, blizzard2 bind, garuda knockback and energy drain that heal 150 - 200?

Its kinda wierd. As a brd who prioritizes on jumping on blms over all else, I should be overjoyed at this gimp. But I had the chance to see 3 blms sync flare (my team, me included, was on the recieving end of it) and I can only describe it as one of those moments where you catch a burning sunset with orange and red literally screaming accross the sky ...before it all ends. That kinda power's respectable even if you are getting slapped around with it. Flare in particular feels like one of the few things that can mortally wound even a regen-stacked healer blocking a flag, at least enough to let him be burned the rest of the way. Either way..if I undrstood the notes right...halving swiftcasts spell output kinda defeats the purpose of using it altogether lol. Theres no advantage.

I can only imagine they're trying to hinder parties of multiple BLMs that get to freecast. Other than that, murdering Swiftcast is some bo'sheeit. 8(

just get better without the swiftcast :) or switch to mnk/drg since they are going to be OP

Irrelevant post. All jobs got that. All that was was a big gtfo to people playing classes there instead of jobs.

Also caster lb casting time got lenthened.

Also if you start that lb and cancel you lose half your lb bar.

Can leave swiftcast + raise since the person raised will have a huge bulleye on his head because of his diminished max hp (can't tell you how many times I've killed the same blm in quick succession cause he keeps accepting regular raise). Divine breath with its weakness free insta raise however needs to gtfo. That ability can be and is abused heavily when parties stack heals.

Healer stacking is the reason it needs to be nerfed.

Is it just me or is all comments about making every class worst except bard, monk, and dragoon. Everyone want 50 second fights? Most people seem to comment and get excited about fights that last 4-5mins and you win.

With the blm nerf it probably comes into the same as whm nerf. If you have ever been in a group 6 blms they are unstoppable. Its awesome you just steam roll the other team.

PVP raise is better than Swiftcast+Raise. PVP Raise has no debuff.

I think it was harsh lol. I'm usually the only BLM on my team. Even before the patch, if I see that I'm the only BLM on the party I switch to SMN because the target on my head is already too large and casting any DPS spells is nigh-implausible. Swiftcast was one of the only things I was able to do to deal any damage outside of Phantom Dart and Scathe. Besides, Flare is only lethal if the target is already heavily damaged (30-60%).

I can see this solving the "4 BLMs" on a team issue, but I haven't seen that in the last 15 games I've had. In fact, most of my parties were 4 BARDS, which by the way are bullshit against us.

Sleep/Freeze + LB was already iffy because teams know naught about teamwork or the targets are somewhat intelligent.

Maybe they're trying to kill PvP dead for everyone. There's horrible decisions across the board. Can't stack regen/medica II buff, which means anything more than one healer is basically useless since 'cast time' spells are almost impossible to fire off when in combat (you're almost ALWAYS locked down by a competent team). Testudo no longer gives a decent enough buff, instead being a party-wide 'Rampart'. Nice enough, but 50% DR was crucial for certain tactics employed.

They've finally given Morale a use, which is kind of... well, meaningless. It boosts the level of equipped gear, but area caps remain in place. So if you're already i80+ you're as good as you can be in Frontlines, morale or not. No one plays Wolves Den. There's still no incentive to actually invest in morale equipment.

This is one of the best decisions they've made to pvp. It's a cheese tactic that has nothing to do with skill. It allows three healers with little ability to survive far longer than they should, purely because of an imbalance created through multiple regens stacks. I'm basically a forced healer main these days, and this will have very little impact on my survivability, as to a competent healer, it is a luxury, not a necessity. Though to incompetent healer, it is a necessity and that in itself is a huge balance problem. People should not be able to get by without being capable of playing their class, current regen stackings create this problem. This change will actually force healers to learn how to play in pvp, which is great. I'm sure it will have a negative effect though, as healing will be just too hard for anyone who relied on this to get by.

It was an inevitable change imo. In nearly any competitive PVP team-based situation, a move like Flare, (highest DMG potential AoE with no target limits) being able to be cast twice in a row would be dreadfully OP. That said, Flare is still the highest damaging AoE attack in the game, and it can still be cast twice, making it still the best candidate for swiftcast AoE DPS. And BLM did get a 10% damage increase as well.

You obviously don't know how blms works in pvp and its shocking because you're a bard. No team worth their salt would EVER let a blm stand there free casting, if you do you deserve to lose. A swiftcast flare thats actually under umbral3 is like a unicorn, it never happens because you never get the chance to set it up. If you do then the other team is already dead and it just makes it end the pain faster.

Blm is the only dps in game that its fundamental design is nerfed right off the bat. Its resorted to scathe spam because of interrupts while every other dps can do the same thing in pvp and pve.

This nerf was purely meant to make it harder for BLMs to essentially oneshot people... Before this change you could do like 5k damage in 7 seconds... with only 2 hard casted spells.

Raging Strikes > Fire III (hard cast) > Phantom Dart > Fire (40% chance for proc) > Fire III > Swiftcast + Flare

Healing through this is difficult since you don't realize big damage is coming until that first Fire I hits... with a 40 percent chance that after it hits it will be followed up with something like 3.5-4k damage in the next 3 seconds. Only way around this is to lustrate/bene the person being focused and you only get a very short amount of time to do it. Honestly, even with the nerf, this combo is deadly because the flare will STILL be as high potency as a Fester and the combo of Fire III + Flare will still do considerable damage.

I don't play BLM in FL so this is more of a question & my interpretation of things than an argument or steadfast opinion- a BLM who's able to hardcast a flare, say under Equanimity/Surecast, under Umbral 3/Raging Strikes, and then followed up with Convert/Swiftcast/Flare again still gets a majorly strong Flare followed by half potency Flare, esp if raging strikes/foe requiem/battle voice is up, could still wipe out members of another party right? Especially now that regen stacking isn't going to be happening.

Convert would be riskier in PVP, but an AOE attack this powerful that can turn the tide of an individual conflict doesn't seem like ithe kind of move that's meant to be pulled off all the time, it's a calculated high risk/reward attack sequence that a party with a bit of coordination between players could pull off.

That said, if ranged auto-attacks (Bard mainly) had a reduced chance of interrupt on casts that would be more balanced than having them serve as auto-silences. DPS in PVE is already balanced between classes with Instant attacks vs casts, they made a few potency adjustments after coil 2 because that was no longer the case due to BLM's impacted by dodging... so if that makes DPS balanced between classes in PVE, adding a high rate of interrupt in PVP that impacts casters only seems to me to have a negative, imbalanced impact on them.

Should just be in FL but it applies to WD too i believe. Sad life gg DoM classes.

Does anyone know yet if breaking a lb cast because of something involuntary (stun,knockback, etc) causes the same lb bar penalty or if it's just those who cancel their own casts?

I might know by now, except I've only been able to successfully queue into ONE FREAKING GAME since the patch. And being in Adders on Primal that says something.
