Wow. I am so ready right now!
Those tiny wings..
Why fly when I can teleport
I hope there are more then just chocobo mounts that can fly in the expansion and we can fly almost any where in the open world not just around the floating land masses.
That looks amazing.
I think it will only be used to fly from edge to edge. But when on ground it will go back to running normally.
Either way I'm excited to try it.
So chickens can fly!
No seriously though, in which final fantasy has a chocobo ever done more than glide over a small distance?
I thought it's also been stated in many games that chocobos do not have the capability of flight.
I mean... dem wings....
They mentioned 6-7 flying mounts are planned.
From the sounds of it, you can fly anywhere so as long as you're in a 3.0 area. Be it floaty-island area or not. I suspect anywhere you can access in the game in 2.x will not have the option to fly with your mounts.
I demand being a DPS DRK while my male flying Behemoth Mount wears a dress and I have a full size Garuda in place of my Garuda-Egi so I can fly to my 5 in game houses I paid 4500 Gil for so I can complain about how the game feels too cartoony while I afk after facerolling the mega-nerfed mini golf course of Bahamut.
Didn't FF6 have a flying Chocobo? Anyway, as a former WoW player.... I don't think flying mounts are a good idea, depending on how they are implemented. IMO they ruined WoW because literally all content could be skipped and just flown to. Blizz had to put heavy restrictions until you hit max level and could buy it ("winter flying" was it called in Wrath?) so people didn't just fly to quest completion markers.
Now if this is just a specific "sky zone" that they can be used, sure I don't have too much a problem. They may have said it already but I missed the announcement of flying mounts.
Well from what I gather, the majority of this new content will be exclusive to Level 50+ characters, so I doubt the whole "flying over" content thing will be much of an issue. Especially since there aren't really any areas that would be broken if they were flown over, other than graphically.
My only disappointment with this is that the expansion isn't out yet... /sigh
The video is very exciting to watch~ Very pretty scenery too, I'm happy they made flying a thing- back in early ARR I was sad with all the teleporting and felt SE cut out a big part of its iconic transportation. It looks like a big false worry, I'm so ready lol.
Now then, when can I preorder?
I sure hope my unicorn can fly, I'm sure my cherry mount can! but it would be so sad if my unicorn can't :(
I hope there's some reason to use these and they design content around it.
FF Tactics, Chocobos could easily fly over walls and etc.
Cash shop mounts. xD
If you check your Mount Guide, the Ahriman's described as "Movement: Airborne." at the bottom. The Ahriman is considered players' first flying mount, didn't expect the chocobo to fly, it kinda looks dumb.
...which is doubtful since Garlean airships aren't exactly filling the sky over Eorzea.
But the only concern I have with this kind of system would be if certain areas are not graphically "finished" in ways that flying mounts like singular airships and black chocobos would be able to see. Like, say... an area like Coerthas Central Highlands which might not have all of the mountains completely finished and instead have gaping holes on the other end or something. But I'm sure, for a company that has been making video games for a good long time that are solid and have far fewer glitches and bugs than their competition *coughBioWarecough* *coughcoughBethesdacough*, this shouldn't be as much of an issue.
cant wait to see flying fat chocobo
Gold Chocobo, Here we go!
People are doing that already though. That's the problem when the world is small and the monsters in that small world pose zero threat whatsoever. That goes for low level and high level characters and areas. People literally just sprint through the mobs and ignore them. Or just teleport to your nearest home or aetheryte.
Didn't anyone else notice the flying video is most likely on the new Flying Continent they mentioned?
