If it is Agent I doubt its skills will only affect female characters, however the one thing I did note was Al-Cid's abilities such as Fawn or Flourish actually heal and buff.

The only thing that has remained true in the FF series is WHM is a healer, BLM is a magic damage caster RDM can do very little of both and primarily uses a sword of some kind. RDM likely wont be released until they are ready for a hybrid support class. I think it'll be more closely related to bard we have now with some slight healing ability and buffs/debuffs on attacks rather than be restricted to only healing.

Could be high damage per shot but low dps 'healer' where the healing gimmick is throwing down vials on the ground to make very high regen rate small aoe (the size of of the ABC waymark or slightly bigger). That way the play style would be setting up heal and support spots and then after that you just keep dpsing until you need to replace the heal and support spots because the tanks need to move to the other side of the arena. that way keeping the tank alive is up to the tank (he has to find a way to stay on the spot as much as possible while weaving through aoes). Will have extra skills for emergency and burst healing like throwing a special vial to dissipate the heal spot and heal the tank for massive hp in the process. I could imagine the tank groaning when they this healer in dungeons though, lol.

As a Drk, Cecil can boost his dmg, but suffers from low magic defense and mp. Secondly, people who say "FFXI isnt the only FF game, think of the other games" seems to be the most fixated on how XI did things, despite in the past, it has never been a 'tank', even though tanks didn't matter in the offline titles. Cecil, for example, wasn't a 'tank' until he renounced his dark knight ways and went paladin - the actual of the FF series, iconic one anyway.Quote:

I really hope it isn't "agent." To me, it doesn't fit FF or its lore (it was used with one character, but so what?). The idea of a healing/gunner class just seems ridiculous. I suppose you could argue for chemist/calculator, but even that always sounded off to me. Overall, chemist sounds better than agent though.

It'll probably be Chemist. In most of the FF games, Chemist (they can't call it Alchemist here) usually has a gun, and uses items for healing, some they make themselves. X-2 mixed it up even more with them pulling healing items out of NOWHERE to heal themselves and the party. Considering how SE likes to make things up on the go, it'll either be like Ninja where we have set manual mixes that create things depending on the mix, it'll be them pulling things out of nowhere, or maybe they'll actually use inventory healing items and make them godly (seriously SE, why is this the ONLY FF game where items are useless?).

Dark Knight's most defining, signature trait is that it always has some attack ability which sacrifice's your own HP. That's pretty much the polar opposite of what a Tank should be doing. It's not difficult to imagine DRK as a tank role. Probably a lower mitigation vampiric tank that depends on offensive cooldowns to counter-heal damage received, combined with increased enmity generation. Could work nicely as a high skill-ceiling/high payoff offensive tank that fails miserably in the hands of a lazy or otherwise bad player.

Agent class seems bit odd if set within an MMO environment so doubt they will go that route unless drastically change it given how so female focused original agents skills were. But will wait and see, so far I am glad DRK is a tank and glad ninja is a DPS but I doubt next one will be agent if next one is healing class. Shooting people to heal them always seemed bit odd in general though I suppose it could shoot above peoples heads and bullet explodes releasing some sort of healing substance but shooting someone in the head or chest wouldn't make much sense as form of healing. I could be wrong and maybe is agent but I don't think will be combination of agent filling the role of group healer specifically in FF14.
