[Suggestion] Please make it possible to "pass" after clicking "need" or "greed"

Not sure if anyone has asked about this before, but I searched the forum with keywords "let us pass after greed" and nothing relevant came up.

Is it possible for the system to be made so that the "pass" button is always available even after we already pushed the button "need" or "greed"?

Scenario 1:
I hit greed on some dungeon drop (because sometimes everyone passes and the item would go to waste, so I usually greed everything just so it won't be thrown away when I could exchange it for Grand Company seals) and then a friend said "Oh I want it for my XYZ job, please" and their greed roll happened to be lower than mine. So I won it when I could have passed for someone who needs it more.

Sad panda. :(

Scenario 2:
I was stupid and half-asleep and hit greed on an armor that dropped in Syrcus Tower when I was actually aiming to get Sands of Time from later bosses. Not everyone hit pass immediately, so there was a few seconds for me to realize my mistake and could have passed before I received the item. However, the "pass" button was no longer available.

Again, sad panda. :(

Therefore, I truly hope that the "pass" button is available all the time until the treasure is distributed.

I wish we had that option as well.... Not sure why they're not making it happen other than "Oh you guys, we're trying to prevent people from abusing it cause we're paranoid like that" >.>

Agreed, don't see any reason for this not to be implemented.

Sounds good and while we are at it, please also make it so that if you are on a Loot lockout (Crystal Tower), you do not have to pass on the over a dozen of items during the run. I do not even need to see the Loot when I can't roll on it anyways.

I hope this gets added. I accidentally needed on something that somebody else actually needed in DF, and I won. I felt terrible about it. D:

Well, in this case, at least, you can always just abandon the duty before the item drops. I agree, though - there's no good reason why a player shouldn't be able to "downgrade" their lot to a "Pass". I'd even argue that downgrading from Need to Greed should be a thing.

I would also like the option to let us Need / Greed after hitting pass. Or make it so that gear won't go into oblivion when everyone pass on it, return it too the chest or something. There were a few times where in my coil group where everyone pass on gear for someone's alt only to have them tell us "oh wait I have that already". Like seriously.

I was prepared to counter this with examples from other MMOs as to why this would be a bad idea (it practically reeks of potential ninja-lot abuse), but after consideration of the hidden lotting system in this game it might not actually be so bad. Since you can't see the results of the lot until the item is actually won (or falls to the floor), why shouldn't you be able to shuffle freely from Need to Greed to Pass and back again all that you want? You could flip your lot eighteen times before the drop occurs, and the only thing the other party members will see is what you had up when the item drops - and if you flip eighteen times, it's not because you changed your mind after seeing what other people have lotted, because you're just as in the dark as they are.

There's no way to predict or prevent what a party member is going to lot, so there's no harm in allowing a party member to switch up what they choose to do. If they're going to break lotting rules decided by the party in advance, there's really no way to stop them. Allowing lot shuffling, though, WOULD allow someone to correct a lot or pass they made by mistake.

I was so tempted to tell the alliance that I'm going to abandon to dodge that treasure lol. However, I was in there with a friend and I decided against it.

Ability to downgrade your own lot roll sounds like a great idea.

I'm curious: How COULD it be abused? I agree that it SOUNDS abusable. I tried hard to think of a way, but with players' lots hidden, I couldn't think of one.

Nefarious player: Mwehehe - I chose "pass" to lull them all into a sense of complacency. I will wait for the moment to strike, and change my Pass to Greed!

Really, the easiest way to deal with it is not have the choice locked in.
Allow us to freely select Need/Greed/Pass until everyone in group has made a selection.

This would allow us to ask the group to pass on something we greeded for an alt job. Or to allow us to change a selection we made to accommodate someone else asking for an alt job greed roll.

I'd like seeing this. I've accidentally greeded on something I didn't need from ST before, and for the rest of the week, it was just painful to think about.

Perhaps what they should do is add a system where your decision isn't locked in, so you can need/greed/pass freely, however once you've selected need/greed, whatever roll you got will stick, so you cannot reroll your value at all. And then after everyone has rolled, the initial 300 whatever second wait time on loot rolls will drop to like 10 seconds, and after that 10 seconds it'll be distributed. That way people have time to determine whether or not they really want or need whatever it is they are rolling on.

With lockout being the norm, please let pass after looting.

Also I think the default action on items with lockout shout be pass. In that if you don't need\greed it passes on an item. I got hit with this once in CT a while ago.

Know what would be nice? Let us see what people choose to roll, but let them downgrade their priority (if they chose need, they can switch it to greed or pass, does not work the other way around.)

I'd also like for them to not shift the friggin loot window when something finishes rolling off. I've had two incidents where the second item I wanted to roll need on gets shifted toward the left (the first loot has been distributed), and I ended up rolling need on the third item. This gets pretty frustrating with ST and the weekly lock out, and especially when I wanted to pass a tomestone drop in T6/7.

I agree with this, on many occasions I've had my caster glamour gear taken from me because of someone's inability to tank (forcing me to go tank instead of caster) and someone's greed trigger finger (I still don't have my tonbans of divine death :/). I can see how allowing you to switch freely between need, greed, and pass would result in a lot of people switching from need to pass to need again to try and get a higher number, but what I suggest is this:

Make it so that when you click need, greed, or pass you get a 'N', 'G', or 'P' over the loot icon instead. The system won't actually decide what your number is until EVERYONE has decided what they want to roll on it, that way people can switch between need, greed, or pass freely, just make sure you have that one guy who won't click any of em until the loot distribution has been decided.

This has been suggested many times, and I'm truly shocked that this hasn't been made an option yet. I really hope it comes to fruition, as it hurts no one.

I'm a little wary of changing Need/Greed, but if nothing else, being able to simply Pass after a lot is a good start. Unless you somehow accidentally hit Pass after lotting...but that's much less likely than the first scenario.

Adding my vote as well:

* Please let us choose PASS *after* we've Needed or Greeded, just in case someone else spoke up late, or we made a mistake and didn't want the gear. There's NO HARM in doing this.

And ideally if it was possible, I'd like to see the ability to Change your Lot with a Declining Hierarchy like what Flo said:

* (Wish List) Let us Change from Need -> to Greed -> to PASS, so if we accidentally Needed something, we could only choose to lower it to a Greed or PASS. Or if we chose Greed, we can only choose to change to PASS if need be.

This would help in a variety of situations and mistakes as well.

Perhaps is this were to be implemented there could also be a little 'are you sure you want to pass? yes/no' confirmation box too?

There have been one or two times where I've hit Greed by mistake trying to scroll along to Pass and I've had to rush to leave the instance instead if it was a drop I didn't want (no not another boss chest Filtered Water nooooo)

Or if you are a moron like me and accidentally hitting greed on the Sands of Time in ST

please add this option!! it happened to me twice

1. accidentally need on someone's BiS, instead of me being called ninja looter, i exited the area, just happened my Bis dropped in the same turn too, so i end up loosing my Bis.
2. accidentally agree on melee gear in ST, <---no melee jobs.

I hate watching stuff hit the floor that could be turned in for seals. At least have an option for everyone to reroll if all hit Pass. So if everyone hits Pass, the enxt window would ask you, "Are you sure you wish to pass on this item? It will be discarded otherwise." or something to that effect.

I think this is a much needed feature. Some people, intentional or not, hit that Need/Greed button when they shouldn't. It is good to be able to pass when mistakes get made. Especially in places like Crystal Tower.

Yes, please. Allow us to change our minds and pass something after we roll on it. So many times I've made my boyfriend upset because I need/greeded some silly piece for seals that he wanted for vanity. I know it's a petty reason to want to be able to cancel what we roll on, but I think it's a good one.

Thanks everyone for the input. I especially love these ideas. Allowing change in loot selection will be nice, too. However, if we can't have this, at least let us have the ability to change our mind to "pass" items.

As long as the loot notification remains on my screen anyhow, then let me change my choice until all players have selected their option. Otherwise, why do I have to keep looking at it?
