This thread was created to propose an item level sync for certain endgame content.
In my opinion there should be an (optional) item level sync for certain endgame content.
This includes:
The Second Coil of Bahamut (savage) (NOT OPTIONAL)
The Second Coil of Bahamut
The Binding Coil of Bahamut
Extreme Primal Fights
Expert Dungeons (thanks Felis)
Why would you want an item level sync for endgame content?
The item level sync is present to keep the content interesting and not make it a ridiculous cakewalk like the current Binding Coil of Bahamut.
Not having a item level sync for savage would not make sense, since the content was created for the most hardcore raiders anyway.
So what are your thoughts?
EDIT: It seems there is a item level sync in place in the new released patchnotes!

Well, the point of having something like this would be to make it challenging and fun right? Well they could always introduce a second version of everything with a sync. For people who want to have fun, not mindlessly grind. While still having a normal version where you keep your item level. This way everyone could be happy. I am sure there would be things wrong with this but i mean everything has flaws and someone is always going to have a temper tantrum when it isn't how they want it.

Ilvl sync wont happen with any current or recent content because, what would be the point of gearing up?
They could add ilvl sync to 2.x content when 3.0 comes out, but then 3.0 content wouldn't have ilvl sync. -

Absolutely, for Savage Coil. Its entire purpose is to be difficult, so this makes sense indeed. Make it so you don't get Echo in this system, too.
For the rest of the content though, this item level sync needs to be optional. If players are able to outgear the content so much that it makes it a "ridiculous cakewalk," it is a strong indicator that they are attempting no-longer-relevant content. There is no reason no-longer-relevant content should be blocking anyone from progressing to catch up to current end game content with the rest of the player base, in my opinion. Especially new players in the future.
So I'm on board if this is optional! All content should have this. Maybe like a crystal ball at the start of every duty that, once interacted with by all players in the party, enables the item level sync, or something. That way you can do it without having it be an option in Duty Finder (making the list even looooooonger), and without pre-formed parties. -

The point of gear and vertical progression (which this game is) is it eventually outgear the content. This is the wrong game for this type of thing.

People will be sorry that they got what they wished for if old content receives an ilvl sync.
After all, what could possibly be more fun and engaging than running the content that was already boring you than to continue running that exact same content but with an ilvl handicap...? Yeah, I don't get it.
I'm not sure where people are getting the idea that taking longer to clear old content in duties is a good idea. ilvl sync wouldn't add true difficulty or fun factor; it would just make the duties take slightly longer. At best it could prevent players from phase skipping, but in most cases this is still more about dragging the duty out than it is making it more challenging. -

I'm all for it as it pertains to Savage Coil since that's the point and all.
For everything else, I'd much rather not. Being able to crush old content is part of why gearing up feels like you've done something. The other part is of course even being able to take on new content. If they were just going to impose an ilvl sync on everything then there'd be no point in getting new gear, except for Coil. If you're not running Coil then your gear would just be sync'd down in every instance until the expansion (current gear would be sync'd based on how they usually do the dungeon ilvl requirements, never mind new gear -- it would be irrelevant). -

New gear is important for new content that comes out such as Final Coil and possible the new Crystal Tower.
Also, I have not stated that they would have to item level sync the dungeon to the item level that is the requirement.
You could however have an item level sync of the maximum item level that was possible when the content was still relevant

I definitely wouldn't mind the option of an ilv. sync for four-player content (or even castrum/prae). As it was pointed out already by someone, I agree that running a dungeon like Aurum Vale can be much more interesting than running bray HM or Wanderer's Palace.
That being said, I can tell you right now that if an ilv. sync was implemented for coil (1 or 2) or extremes, the amount of time i'd spend trying to help newer/more casual players clear that content would drop straight to 0 minutes. I realize other players play old content for other reasons, but once i have my clear and my glams, i'm done with it. I only go back to help struggling players because i know they have an edge. Even getting my static (or any of the statics i sub for) to go back to help me get glams after the clear takes some arm twisting. There are plenty of mechanics in coil and extreme primals that neutralize gear level already. If the execution isn't there, the gear doesn't matter. No amount of gear or echo will save you from a landslide, or a gaol too close to another gaol, or a dreadknight or twister. Perhaps some additional reward for clearing content with an ilv. sync would make it worth it, but as it stands now, the time I spend wiping in PF'er trying to help players (even so-called farm/clear parties) who massively out gear the content is hard enough. Thanks.
Also, why is this necessary? :confused: you can always handicap yourself by simply equipping lower level gear/disabling the echo. The extra challenge is there for those who want it. Imposing it is your responsibility :p
I will concede to a very, very, small degree that majorly over-buffed players are robbing themselves of that feeling of achievement that comes from beating an extremely demanding fight. When my old static cleared Twin without echo it nearly had me weeping tears of joy. And honestly, i'm more than a little :( crushed :( that my current static decided that spending the time to clear T9 before echo wasn't worth it. But still, imposing an ilv sync on the game's more difficult content is entirely unnecessary. -

I am not happy with them adding ilvl sync to level 50 dungeons.
The item level sync in high level roulette just insures I will never queue for it ever again. Having my gear gimped and making the run take longer for less tomestones no thanks. I have no idea why they would even do this. -

Sure you could put on your good old i110 but I don't want to have to show my kill video to prove that my nice title wasn't cheesed with higher gear...
