Ninja's gotta catch up somehow :P
Time to finally finish up the ol Animus Axe. Maybe.
Incoming Ninja FATE farming party ^^
Will most likely see them coming.
Too bad this still doesn't change the fact that doing the Animus books is the worst part about the relic quest. :P
I'd think that Novus would be the worst part. At any given time the in-game economy could turn for the worse and getting necessary materia needed for Novus could become very problematic.
If you were serious about Ninja, you'd already have the Atmas >_>

Ahead of the curve (ever so slightly).
A welcome change. Too bad I'm almost done with my novus, but at least my friends might catch up.
Yes the Drop rate is now 2% which is indeed double of the previous 1% drops of the past.
Of course I jest and in all seriousness I am happy that this is being fixed as I personally saw no point in trying to farm for Atma anymore. (I got 4 pieces and till this day never saw another).
I understand why they tried to have the system the way it was, pace the players how rush to the end of the current content while they have a chance to make more content. This is why I think the current structure of the Relic/Zodiac weapon quest is the way it is and my get overhauled as a whole in the expansion.
thank. god.
now time to sit and wait for...what is hopefully a little more than a week until i can be bothered to finish up curtana and start on something else.
don't forget it's not just the books. anything that costs myth will have the conversion ratio to soldiery so everything will be cheaper.
RNG is still RNG.
I think people are jumping the gun a little bit on the books being "cheaper." All they said was that they will cost soldiery instead, and that they will cost less soldiery than they cost mythology.
What they did not confirm is that you will be able to get the amount of soldiery that they do cost any faster than you can currently get 1500 mythology. Not to mention that people will still want soldiery to gear up their alternate jobs and buy alexandrite, making the economy for those different than mythology currently is.
Will this increased atma rate also apply to Alexandrite? If I can farm an Alexandrite in an hour of atma farming (would seem reasonable) - this sounds pretty good to combo with dailies for novus.
Given that FFXIV uses a true RNG system it is entirely possible for someone to do 1000 fates with a 1% drop chance and still never see even 1 atma. It's unlikely but it IS possible. For you to call people lazy when they may have cleared 10x more fates than you ever did and just got unlucky makes you look incredibly moronic.
Obviously nobody knows - but I'd say the previous rate was more likely than not 5%. I'd say if you're consistently moving - you probably can knock out 10 fates per hour (6 minutes per fate - also need to factor in waiting on fates to spawn when they are all knocked out). Majority of people (not the unlucky) seem to say the Atma phase takes roughly 25 hours. That would equate to a roughly 5% drop rate.
1% drop rate would mean 1200 fates in a perfect probability world (roughly 120 hours worth of fate grinding). 5% sounds more likely.
Was so close to doing that at the start of october but i was like wait.....
Fck this im gonna just wait till they nerf it even more. Haha i guess they will now so yay for laziness.
Cuz helll noooooo am i not gonna grind mindlessly for days just for an atma wep again.
This ^. Plus I have the Radz-at-Han Quenching Oil, 3 Thavnairian Mist, 64 Alexandrite (should have 75 by the 28th), and a full set of crafted/dungeon leveling gear from 1-49 (with both str and dex just in case). I would get the materia but I'm not sure which stats to go for yet... either det/acc or det/crit.
I already have my radz oil, 3mists, 12 atma, capped soldiery/myth, 75 alexandrite and a host of every materia type, allagan tomestone, 10 Rowena tokens, sand of time, and a large amount of green dungeon gear str/dex from 15-50. I think I am adequately prepared.
Done that :D
Also SBd gear running Fates for Materia to do the Novus part whilst farming Fates/dungeons. So got the 75 Materia too ^_^
Will be my 2nd Nexus and havn't spent 1 gil on Materia, but I'm patient enough to SB gear myself and sell the Materia I didn't want to come out with a very healthy profit.
More then doubled... So now it is like 10%?
Not sure I am actually amused.
I must be one of the unlucky. Every day since the quest was added to the game, I've been doing an average of half an hour of FATE grinding (as measured by one summons of my chocobo, the clock on which stops while I'm mounted, so it really only records the time I'm off her, fighting FATE monsters), and I still don't have a full set. My grumpypants say that "doubling the drop rate" means going from... let's see... two times nuttin'... carry the nuttin'... still leaves nuttin'.
I'm kind of super happy I had been holding off on getting Atma so far lol. Sometimes being lazy can pay off?
Not sure if people realize that animus is going to take a good 75 hours just to do the books (let alone buy them) and novus is going to take even longer. Nexus is another story.
100 mobs takes 2 hours no matter how you cut it. Three spawn mobs will see to that. Leves are 30 minutes. Fates seem to average around 4 hours. Dungeons seem to average 2 to 3 hours via duty finder. Even if you are somehow quick / lucky enough to knock a book out in 8 hours you're looking at 72 hours for all nine. Factor in purchasing the books and you're looking at something much worse than what the average atma phase looks like (roughly 25 to 30 hours).
If atma got you down - animus will drive you insane.
That's exactly what I meant, they were 100k (at least on my server) right when it started and no one knew (only the most advanced in Novus) how many IVs (or if any at all) you'd need. They stood on a steady 200kish for a while and now theyre 500~600k each. And that was my point, finally getting an atma weapon so you can spend millions and millions of gil (or kill your brain SBing) really late when it's so expensive :d So it's not a pay off.
With this doubled drop rates,i might have my 7 non-main jobs which sit at zenith get upgrade to animus.well .. 7 sets of atma to work out ...
I don't mind this one bit, I have 8 atma for my 2nd upgrade so it will give me something to do while I spirtbond gear.
Please tell us more about how we should play. It doesn't change the fact you don't need a single IV to make a Novus.
Doesn't need a single tier 4 and you can still min/max. The game has accuracy caps, you put crit, det, and acc on your relic. Since you have some acc on your weapon you can just use less acc on another piece of gear where you have the choice between an acc piece or something with crit and det.
no the change is so that some can get caught up to those who atmas fell from the sky for them and have Novus weapons by now for all their classes.
The implementation of atma was poorly executed really.
As for the books being cheaper, well myth is easy enough to get by doing dailies, roulettes, etc.
But with weekly cap that will be removed i think players will still just get soldiery weapons. Heck because my Novus is taking ages to finish (Det IV over 650k each and sb yields nodda so far) i may just get a soldiery weapon myself
And yes having max det and crit is in fact better for me anyhow and i can make up for acc with gear.
Besides some have mentioned Nexus prefers 2 stats anyhow
