Faster duty finder

Duty finder would move a lot smoother if all content except full length dungeons forced players to join a party in progress, and not start a whole new party when others are already started and missing 1 or 2. It would make it where players would automatically join into the party in progress having wait time because of one player quitting. :rolleyes: :confused:

While that would work to shorten the queues, it could cause the dreaded "ruin the immersion" scenario where you are dropped in on a party far into the dungeon. Players would miss out of EXP, gear, exploration, and lore. You know.... the entire point of running a dungeon for the first time!

The in progress checkbox is always there for you to use if you want to get in and out, and higher level roulettes have PLENTY of experienced players utilizing it.

Pretty much this. There's already a box to tick for those who want to. I don't even see the need to automatically have it activated for most instances. Some things are best to leave up to the player, rather than be forced on everone.

It would be nice if SE would just save the preference per account. As often I simply forget to click it back on, even though I have no objection to join an in-progress dungeon.

Joining an in progress one is such a lottery win!
You get the same gil bonuses and myth bonuses even if most of the work has already been done :)

depending on the dungeon, you do not get the tomes from boss kills if you join an in progress and those bosses are already dead.

What happens if people are joining for the lore, first time, for exp or loot? Screw them? There is already a check box to join in progress and it up to the players to check that, forcing it on us is not the best way to go.

I have left dungeons before cause our healer left to rejoin as my own healer, but new groups get formed first so have to rejoin, reject, rejoin, reject, rejoin, reject and fiiinally the right one pops

Maybe dutyfinder should fill groups with missing members before making new parties

I kinda agree. DF should have been In-progress by default with an opt-in checkbox for Full-run only as a checkbox. And the checkbox should be checked by default for the new players.
It seems like the exact same thing but it really doesn't seem like our current system cares about completing in-progress roulettes. For example a LS mate is missing a healer on his Qarn run so I try to get an in-progress low level roulette... and it pops with full runs only. That coupled with a withdraw penalty to prevent spam seems like it would help in-progress runs out, but I'd worry about full run groups being hard to fill.

No thanks, I do dungeons to do the dungeon, not to just kill the last boss. Some of us do them for fun, not just the reward from the final boss.

The choice is there to join in progress or to start from the beginning, you want to take choice away. Bad idea.

I'm in MNK BiS, don't need Myth, don't need Sol and already have glamors on all classes I like.

Having a pop up saying about the join in progress tick box the first time you use DF is fine to draw attention to the option. But making it mandatory, bad idea is bad.

This is something which also never made sense to me. When trying to join up with friends as a tank it's the same story. Their tank dropped, I want to help. I first get spammed by a dozen of new dungeon pops prior to actually getting an in-progress one.

That party might not have selected "replace members", so nobody would ever join.

There were probably 100 dps and a dozen tanks that had been waiting a lot longer than your LS group, so they could have been given higher priority for a healer entering low level roulette.

What happens if you would have got a different in progress low level roulette dungeon?

And also, the in progress check remembers being checked or not for each character. If you had it checked last time you entered duty finder, it will be checked next time you enter. Maintenance might reset that, but otherwise it's remembered.

As I stated in OP, not applying to full length dungeons, only to for example: Extreme Battles, Coils, and any other battle where you restart to the beginning quickly anyways. When parties with one player quitting it causes all other members to quit because of the slow joining in progress time. This is because a whole new party is formed from scratch really when its pointless because its computer generated members anyways, not friends or party finder. In the end it would make it where there is no wait time for other players to join.
