Coil Loot Sytem

I love this game, but I'm really starting to get annoyed with Coil now. I cleared T6 for the first time on the 19th May and T7 a month or so later (I'm in Phase 4 of T9 now), apart from September I have been progressing through the turns every week.

I have put aside hours every week to raid and as much as I love downing the fights I would like some reward for my efforts. So why is it that since May I have not had a single drop for the class I actually main, my secondary class is now better geared than my main.

This is over 20 weeks of downing turns without any reward, surely there is a better system that could be implemented here e.g. each player gets a token per turn & 3 tokens get you an item. The current system is really broken and definitely needs something done. I probably wont have any coil drops until the lock out is removed now as I have already done 6-8 this week and have still got nothing.

I love this game but I feel completely cheated by this loot system.

So, none of the gear you need for your Best in Slot has dropped in this time or have you not had priority on any loot since may? If its the first then you're one of the unluckiest players I know... :(

That's the point of solidery. Your luck has been poor with Coil but during that same time period you could have geared your main completely in Soldiery i110. Not BiS necessarily but THAT is your token system. They'd probably increase tomestone prices and put a fairly high price on Coil gear if they added a Coil token system to offset the guaranteed Coil gear.

It's exactly that, I never bothered to roll on Sands and Oils at first as I geared up my main and my alt through Hunts really fast and a lot of the guys I used to raid with didn't enjoy them as much. But I've not had a single SCOB drop for my main, it's really gutting.

I finished my main shortly after hunts were introduced, but as a Bard some of the Soldiery gear is kind of weak. My idea for an alternative loot system was off the top of my head, but there must be a way to create a system that is less RNG based. I would even take clearing Turns 6-8 three weeks in a row for one drop, over doing it for 20'ish with none.

I totally understand how you feel though, I'm in a very similar position - been clearing T6-T9 for over 3 months and not one Best in Slot drop for my main either. I do know the feels..

That moment of pure disappointment after clearing another week and seeing the rest of your static all achieve full Best in Slot is gut wrenching. *consoles*

my MNK member in static never got a single coil loot since i established static from T1 - T9 from 9 months

until in 2.2 when T1 - T5 farming begun

so T6 - T9 will be the same when it will be farmable at 2.4

if you see this then you are not as unlucky as him tbh

Nice input there, good job. Either way I'm sure there are other people who have had similar problems and have similar feelings on the subject to me. A system that would still pad out the amount if kills needed for full coil gear but with less RNG would clearly be a better option. I accept that the RNG Gods have it in for me, but still this is kind of stupid to go through all of 2.2 and 2.3 without a single drop for my main. I still manage to make the DPS checks in T9 without them so it's not the end of the world but all that work for no reward is a killer. There are probably going to be players getting carried when the lockout is removed who will have better gear than me if this keeps up.

I know, it's so hard I even did a /pray to the Bard Gods at the start of every turn this week, still no luck.

There are others. I waited, not as long, and other members of my raid team have been waiting but that's how the system works. Personally, what I would prefer, is savage mode to have a more flexible loot system since it's more of a challenge. As for normal mode, I don't think it deserves it.

Thats better! I think it would be awesome to be able to get dyeable High Allagan gear in Savage Coil, I really like the stuff used by the NPC's in Syrcus Tower (sorry I can't remember their names). I have yet to get to Savge Coil my self though, my old raid team started slowly falling apart in August and we just cleared the turns we had already done each week while members were away. But I joined a new team at the start of this month and am now in the 4th phase of T9 so hopefully I will be able to try it soon.

I would like a dyeable set too but like you previously mentioned, a token system. It would have to be a loot drop, people roll on the tokens, then these are exchanged for a select piece. Reason being, since savage is so much harder, you should get that choice for putting in the effort. Plus, you probably won't really need it if you can already beat savage. But the tokens should only work for loot that drops off that turn.

For example, a T6 token or T7 token will buy gear from their corresponding loot list.

Thats a really good idea. I like how you can tell what turns players have done by knowing the turn that their gear drops from. By doing it like this you can still separate the gear while making the static have greater control over gear distribution. Of course for unorganised statics this could be a pain as it could lead to arguments and players falling out, but really most groups should be able to sort out a fair system.

Or you could have individual tokens that every member gets each kill but you need say four tokens per turn for each item. But then the down side to that would be that after eight kills most players would have all the loot they need for that turn.

I did t6 the first week, and I still miss my T6 healer earings.
It's not like I really care about this, but I still miss also the T8 hat (not even one healer of the group got this item...) but I saw 6 or 7 shields (I think was 6), this loot system is frustrating.

My friend healer is really mad now, becoz he passed the chest for me month ago, and it doesn't drop anymore, I feel sad for her.

Yes, this loot system suck a little.

Could be my coil group.. I think everyone and their alts have tank feet, pants, and shields.. and we've gotten enough DRG armor to equip 6 or 7 DRGs nearly in full HA armor.. BRD and caster loot not so much so.. certainly desirable pieces almost never drop (hello gloves and hat) while others drop frequently. RNG is what it is though, so its shrug and move on. :|

In 14 days i did 18 times ST. Currently I need only one drop. Amons Pants. It never showed up. But Skylas coat of casting 5 times. Amons Hat 6 times, that other body 5 times and 2 times something else I can't remember ... And don't get me started on the previous weeks. Did I open a thread for it? No. Because at the end of it all it comes down to

Damn I shouldn't have made this thread, I'm waiting precious kb's of the internet afterall.... ST is a joke though, missing loot for a couple of weeks isn't comparable to five months, and then if you don't get what you want you can just re-run it. Who even takes that loot seriously anyway? I haven't bothered with that place for a while now. This is my first time complaining about it on the forums, but I think after two patches and five months have passed without me getting a single drop for my main it's a fair complaint... especially when the lock out is going to end soon.

In my groups we have just had an abundance of Tank, Healer and Caster loot the old DRG didn't do too bad but Monks and Bards have had sod all.

I just don't see any point to doing coil any longer since they will inevitably add gear that will be on the same level after the coil patch.

2 People in my group now have about every BRD drop minus anything from T9(Since we have not cleared it). I did get majority of my DRG gear though. I mean, RNG is RNG, it's there to make you keep playing for that set goal you have in mind. For what purpose would you have to continue logging on if you've attained everything you set out for? I mean, sure, they could ease it up a bit. Not likely though.

Thats very true, but we will have the same RNG based loot system in the Third Coil and the same problems, hopefully my luck will not be so bad this time around though.

It's not "broken" and it's not a "problem" - random is a random. There's no other loot system they could do without essentially handing it to you or mimicking FFXI (and we know how much people here hates on XI) or 1.23 with multiple chests with the possibility of 1-3 items each.

But people complained about that and said need/greed/pass is the superior system even if it limits the items that can drop.

I completely get that reason for using the current system, but it's still possible to pad out coil with a token based system too.

I'm pretty sure there is a way to fix it, finding optimal solutions to problems is a large part of a developers/designers job, it would be wrong to say that the current system is without fault.

It is. Especially since we were told in 1.0 days that the 'raids' would have a token system reward. RNG is not token based.

To see the story? (No. Watching on youtube is not the same for me).

To get the gear that looks quite different from the casual tome gear?

In 2.0 there were from beginning 2 sets of i90 gear. People still were playing BCoB.

So because your precious item did not drop for your group for months, the system needs to be changed. Other groups complain that they see the same item you miss all the time, but lack other items.
Example. My Coil 1 group wanted for 2 bards the visor... it did not drop once a long time. The other group? They had the visor drop every single run while they never got the tank and healer stuff everyone allready had in his inventory or retainer at least once.

Yeah Right. Just rerun it when it doesn't drop. I can do it several times a day. You not. Still if I run it several months 3 times a day and don't get my drop it still on a different level annoying than doing a run once a week 4 times a month. So lets say 3 months no drop? How many runs are those? 12?

sure it is annoying not to get a drop within 3 month's. but how long does each run take with your group? 20-40 minutes? So you "wasted" 20-40 minutes a week to get a chance on your drop in a week. 80-160 minutes a month in 3 months 240 to 480 minutes.

Now how long does St take, per run, including that even with "in progress" you not always get right to the boss you need?

I think he's talking about doing Coil in the last few weeks of 2.3 when he has already cleared it.

Seriously peeps, that so called seed RNG is based on server time, hence why i always saw different loots running with 8 different statics clearing coil at varying timeslot, and ofc the same RNG BS within the same timeslot if some of the statics ran it at the same timeslot. If there is any specifics, is that each static always QQ bout "OMG NOT ANOTHER - insert job- POS" and "Where the bloody hell is my -specific coveted gear-?"

TLDR : run at different timeslots for different loot drops, 1 "job specific" timeslot spread between 2-3 hours each

I'm on about items for a whole class, thats kind of messed up. You say it's an hour or two a week which nowadays is true, but there is also the amount of time spent learning the turns, dedicating set evenings to going there with your team. A lot more work goes into clearing Coil than ST. ST you can just go when ever you want it doesn't take any organisation. I don't care about Atma or ST or any of the things I can re-run over and over, I have no problem with it as long as i get another shot at it but Coil has a lock out, once you've missed your drop for that week the opportunity is gone. RNG in most instances of the game is fine, but in this instance it can be a pain in the arse.

I don't think they believe they need to change it. If they do, they certainly aren't telling us.

I can relate with this. When I beat T5, I decided to farm it indefinitely until I got the Allagan Cane because it looked cool. Set up a bunch of farm, and clear parties every day for weeks till I finally got it. Ended up taking like 3 weeks worth of farming and around more than 80 clears (I gave up counting at this point) to get the cane. I brought a lot of people together to beat T5, as well as get people who needed it to advance to 2nd coil. So it was gut wrenching watching everyone get their weapon one by one. I was determined though, so I kept going with the same intentions of getting the damned cane. Mind you that all the runs before the run that I got the cane, it did not drop once.

I can't say that I can prove it exactly, but I did save videos between my first clear and the clear that I got my cane on. I used the timestamps as estimates. I guess you could also ask around Cactuar about by T5 binge (I'm surprised some people actually remember that lol). :o

I know.... I'm just bitching. With the last coil only weeks off it's far to late for a change and it would also break consistency with the previous two coils. But I can at least hope they will switch it up for whatever our next big endgame raid is.

That is commitment, when gear is out levelled I would just aim for the next one up. You must really like that Cain. XD

Why yes, yes I do. I have it glamoured onto most of my WHM weapons because of how nice it looks. Second coil has been a lot nicer with me than the first, which is always a nice thing. :o

It doesn't matter if you agree with me or not. You can't choose to define a word. If you think it's broken, then you don't know what broken means. Don't rely on 1.0 information, this isn't 1.0 anymore, it's practically a new game anyway. 1.0 was just FFXIV, this is FFXIV:ARR. Just deal with it. Yeah, a token system would be kind of nice, but I don't mind either way.

Also I never said it was 1.0 now, nor am I 'living in those days' that does not even make sense or pertain to my point. I said in the 1.0 days..meaning, Yoshida told us this on this very forum in 2012, to rest assured.."IN 2.0" again... in 2.0 and beyond we would have a token system for raiding. I am tired of having to explain what I mean over and over again, if people can't read properly that is not my problem.

So yeah, um..according to what Yoshida said..if we we're supposed to have a token system..and yet it is RNG, thus, broken. Unless RNG somehow gives us tokens and I am confused?

The adjective form being applicable here of course, "not functioning properly; out of working order". Now, when you have designed the game to pick and choose what is working as you intended to then determine what is or is not working properly, then yes, you can claim it as broken. This doesn't make it "broken" and the fact you are still trying to use that word only reinforces that you do not know what the word means. If you were told one system was going to be implemented and it wasn't but rather another one was, that's what it is, just another system. It's not "broken", it's just different. So, yeah, um...

TL;DR:Still don't know what broken means.
