Australian has a fairly small population compared to NA so it doesn't make sense to have servers for just 1 country. Even Blizzard who has the biggest mmo at the moment has Australians play on the NA servers.

Yeah, I got so excited when I saw that email, only to see it was for the wrong game when I opened it up. My main char would still be where my friends are but I'd love to have an alt on a local server for once :(

If Nosgoth has a very significant number/percent of Australian players, it makes sense to give them their own server. Meaning no disrespect, but it doesn't make financial sense to put up an extra server in a totally different country, probably having to deal with all sorts of Customs & Excise red tape in the process, if the players there are few and far between; whereas going by that email there's a -lot- of Aussie players in Nosgoth.Quote:

They should make an "AU" Server in the JP Data centers. Proxies and VPNs like "WTFast" often hurt other players and the server who aren't using them more.

They should just have SEA servers, the latency will be decent for everyone in the region and Australia is not significant enough to have it's own data center. Also lol at the idea of a FATE event there before the likely hundreds of other locations that would attract more players.

they will supply a local server as soon as the demand meets their needs. obviously there are not enough customers there to meet the demand. (i dont get why EU doesnt have their own tbh)
why spend millions of dollars to create and maintain an additional server if the number of players that would be using it does not meet their standards of being lucrative.
also, it seems as if they are still a little gun shy due to 1.0. i would imagine 3.0 may change their approach to these sort of things if all goes well.
or hell, maybe upgrade the ones they already have... -

Europe Population: 742.5m
Australia Population: 23.13m
About equally sized areas. Europe has 32x the population of Australia. Europe does not yet have its own data centre. You may be waiting a while. -

There's also the fact Nosgoth is a Squeenix Europe developed game that is obviously targeted to a different audience. Does Nosgoth have a Japanese server block? A large part of why FFXIV doesn't have servers IN Australia is due to your proximity to Japan. Poor latency to the JP servers would be moreso on your ISP than Squeenix. The problem I hear most from Aussie players is dealing with playing on a server with mostly Japanese players. Therefore a server or two labeled as Oceanic would certainly help to organize the Oceanic community onto a World where they don't need to learn a second language.

Second Edit: To be fair, Perth to Brisbane is 2244 miles, so chances are, even with an Australian Server, you're gonna be pretty far from the data centre (Though with few relays, which is probably a bigger impact than the sheer distance).
