SE, you really need to manage our expectations with all this stuff. You need to warn us well in advance. You need to keep us updated. This can't happen again, seriously.
Let's put aside the fact that it's personal housing for a moment that is causing this rage, let's look at the fact that people are raging at all. This means they expected something notably different to what they are getting.
This is because you do not manage our expectations. Please start doing so if you actually care about your players. Why would you not do this?

Wasn't their #1 goal to keep players happy? I don't see how lying to players, telling them it would be cheaper than FC housing, is an acceptable way of keeping their customers happy. I don't even understand how this was even released if they honestly couldn't handle it.

"will be" and "in development" mean two completely different things. The way he typed it made it truly seem like that was it. This is coming from the producer himself, the horse's mouth so to speak. That's what HE posted himself, no ifs ands or buts about it. It's 100% reasonable for people to feel lied to and upset. And even if it was a mistake, it's his fault for wording it as such.Quote:

That long response Yoshi made was pretty obviously typed out either right before notes or before that. Point of the matter is, if you're going to release content you know is not originally planned- why release it at all? In this case, a letter written by Yoshi-P was most likely drawn up at the last minute as a way to explain and appease to players on the situation.
My problem isn't on what happened, or why they forgot. It's the fact that players are taking this as a personal offence, when most likely it was simply an error on their part due to the way it was implemented.
People are taking this WAY too seriously, as its going to cause grievous harm to their experience.
There's still plenty of time before 2.4 rolls around, for the time it took to fill 6 wards on every server (even populated ones), there will be plenty of time to adjust to this new change.
TL;DR
People are getting mad, and self-entitled.
"They said it was going to be this price, BUT IT CHANGED!"
When it really doesn't matter at the end of the day, this is the price it's going to be, this is how it's implemented and this is how you're going to have to deal with it for now.
The sheer immaturity of the responses so far is insane. -

Being consistently open and clear with your consumers is extremely important with keeping their trust. I like these occasional livestreams, but you should still provide details on what you're adding well in advance. Especially features people where really looking forward to. -

you know what they have to do? Whenever they are about to release a new patch, may it be minor or major, they should provide some sort of a patch preview that shows EVERY new stuff and adjustments in that said patch and provide their THOUGHT PROCESS for those changes. Something that Riot does for League of Legends.

My issue isn't that they couldn't create something that would meet our expectations. My issue is that Yoshida confidently stated that we would get more affordable private housing completely separate from FC housing and let us believe it for months. Then, he mentions the change in plans AFTER the patch was released and after people got upset. So while he technically didn't lie, he misled us for far too long.

I will say Yoshi-P was more transparent in the 1.0 days. Each letter from the Producer gave a status update on content letting us know how everything is going. Actually I would prefer more Letters from the Producer than the Live letter fluff.

I really miss the player surveys. Especially ones putting to vote how certain content should or shouldn't be implemented. It would be fantastic if they started doing this again. I know it's been stated before that they get plenty of feedback (no shortage of it on the NA forums for sure) but there's still a large population whom feel intimidated to participate here. Especially with populations that tend to attack opinions that do not gel with their own and I can't help but feel a lot of voices and good ideas get lost to this. I think everyone's input should be equally heard, in a private way, if they should please to share it. The surveys were really wonderful for that. It was also interesting to just see the results.
