From the top of my head...next part of relic, personal housing, /hug, and Ramuh i110 rings are all confirmed for 2.38 in some form or another.
^ This.
They have been quiet on the patch, but it won't be long now till the servers go down and full patch notes go up.
New ranks would be nice, but I seriously doubt this.
If there is anything that would ever limit the public access to anything in the game, SE makes sure to usually cover their asses. This is just SE throwing up a disclaimer that is basically saying "Look we told you that it'll require a certain rank to have a house. Don't bitch at use because we told you and you had time to max your rank beforehand."
Also, while the majority of older players are maxed and have been for a while, with Frontlines people have been changing GCs to play with their friends, effectively resetting their rank.
Getting those Ranks back really isn't difficult though. I switch from Maelstrom to Twin Adder, hopping on Immortal Flames in between to get both minions, and it took a couple of days to reach max Rank, the biggest block was the 15 day cooldown on changing again.
There is also another reason they'd potentially add new Grand Company Ranks for Housing, and that's to prevent people instantly going out and getting a House. They did the exact same thing with Free Company Housing.
A box of disappointment is my guess since they've chosen the radio silence treatment.
well prepare for...

My wish list:
1) ramuh ex and second coil added to the DF;
2) (impossible, but..) coil2's locks removed --> farmable
3) craft mats removed from dungeons or drop rate reduced (it's time)
Sands of time added to ST probably (no reason not to)
Yea I really hope they get rid of those materials. Try farming gear for alts or glamours...yep not happening cuz what's in every chest? A stupid crafting material that everyone needs on but no one actually NEEDS.
You know, you can sell those crafting materials, its not like .. you know .. they are untrade and unsellable.
I rather have materials drop that I need that gear I don't need.
Most of the mats that are dropping are really cheap on the market board (at least on Ragnarock), plus the gear that drops from dungeon can be sold: to Grand Company, you get seals and you buy the mats you need.
I would agree for coil, but at least Ramuh ... just look at what I found on the 2.28 patch notes:
The Duty Finder has been adjusted as follows:
Players can now queue for Thornmarch (Extreme) and The Whorleater (Extreme) solo via the Duty Finder.
* When registering with less than eight players, the party must adhere to the following composition: 2 Tanks / 2 Healers / 4 DPS
Players can now queue for the following after forming a party (2.28 patch notes)
Adding Coil2 to the DF would really makes thing a lot easier and I can understand why they would wait until 2.4 (still I hope they do it now to ease the pressure on static parties, ofc I wouldn't cry if I needed to wait until the next major patch ...)
I'm not expecting personal housing, days away from patch and no information about it has been released. They normally release information about upcoming major features, no blog post or anything.
im confused...does patch 2.38 release tomorrow or is it just maintenence ?
I wouldn't doubt it, if they take the ward route they have to ensure all lands will not be taken in one day by people with alts, plus they would want to limit how many people can get houses for a while, they don't have unlimited resources.
Personal housing was confirmed in the last LL, they are going silent due to other reasons... perhaps afraid of our reaction with some of the upcoming content.
-Last live letter.Quote:
Yoshida: First, we'll be adding land in patch 2.38, and it will then be possible to purchase personal housing, but the issue of how many plots to add will be under discussion until right up to the last minute. Just the other night we had a meeting which included Kasuga about even more additional plots and what kind of plans they have in order to accommodate them.
So.... we can buy land but wont be able to build a house until a later release?
...
If you can buy land you can build a house on it. I'm not sure why they've been more or less silent lately, but probably just prepping the patch(es) and getting ready for TGS. No reason to think that the things they've said multiple times will be in this patch won't be.
Guys just wait for the patch notes, what there's no reason for the maintenance to last for as long as it does if they're not going to add anything substantial. No reason to freak out over this, they're not going to reveal information because the patch is so close...
It was only a couple of patches in a row where they decided to release notes a week early; I bet they went back to not releasing information at all in advance because of economic implications.
"Hey guys, there's going to be a new way to get such and such an item!" ...item crashes in price.
"Hey guys, the next step of relic/some other new content is going to demand x number of these items" ...item skyrockets/first people to the mb get to buy a lot of cheap items to resell for mass profit.
mmm normally they gave us at least prelimanary Patch notes on the day before they released it. This time they didn't (so far). Either an oversight or there is something in the Patch that is changing the Economy significantly and they are holding it back with purpouse.
I'm at work when the servers come back up so I seriously hope personal housing isn't limited like FC housing is.
Why? I'm pretty sure it will not be like that as that would make no sense whatsover. What would you do for characters on different servers? And even if you have alts on the same server you still need to level them up to 50 and have high GC rank as well - that takes a couple days at least for each alt. SE will not limit / cripple the alts like this.
What is coming in 2.38? Disappointment perhaps, I hope not.
Advance knowledge doesn't really change things much because post-patch it just becomes a race to login first and buyout the market. If anything, it only screws over people with sleep schedules.
At any rate, a personal housing preview should have been in order, even if details on how to obtain one were held back. I've been trying to plan for this for months and with no solid info to go on, I may have been wasting my time. That's what I think many find unacceptable.
I just hope owning a house is just for vanity, not something crucial, because I won't be able to own one for some time since I'm always broke.
Allowing multiple houses later on? Maybe. At the launch? It would be the dumbest move ever short of Hunts on SE's part.
SE seems to have zero clue how to judge demand and plan accordingly. They'll likely have 1/10th the number of plots available that are actually needed for all players who want (and can afford) to get one.
I'm still expecting a clustermoogle of epic proportions, and a near bloodbath in the zerg for plots.... or pricing thats so out of whack that the forums actually ignite from the flame posts that go up.
Time will tell I guess, and I'd love for SE to prove me wrong, but their track record to date hasnt been very good.
They seriously need to hit a home run on this after the nightmare that the Hunt rollout was.
Only huge, full number patches (2.2, 2.3, etc) get their patch notes released early. Smaller stuff like this is always after the fact.
