Hello fellow players! I just wanted to get some general feedback on this loot system our FC might be starting to use! Please let me know any flaws or improvements you may have! Thanks!
Tally Mark System
What is it?
Each raid member gains 1 point to their name once certain actions are met. One or more FC officers may keep a macro or even a word file to keep record.
You gain a point in one of the easy following ways:
1 point for being on time for raid.
1 point for downing a boss.
1 point for staying til the end of your FC's raid time.
Maximum Points per player is 20. (maybe?)

How do you use the points?
It's very simple. When a piece of loot drops you look at your list, then you ask who wants the item. The person with the highest points get it automatically, if two or more people have the same amount of points, they may then roll normally against one another.
Once the person acquires the item, you cut their points in half rounded down.
If nobody needs it for main jobs, it's a free greed roll for offspec with no cost in points.
That's it!
This assures that one person does not constantly win items over and over while everyone else is left in the dust, and those that haven't won an item in a while will eventually have first dibs on an item of their choosing!
This also prevents from new raid members winning an item another raid member has been trying to get for a very long time. :) -

I've got some mixed feelings with that system, since it might look fair, I think you should focus on seeing what the flaws in your group are. If any DPS needs X gear before the other DPS or if the OT is better or worst geared than the MT, the same with healers. But that's my opinion! Regarding your system, it's not clear for me what these points for "downing a boss" are. Do you assignate them by seeing the battle log and check who killed the boss? Or you mean people that was in the party when the boss was killed?

Our group keeps it simple:
Main Spec / Secondary Spec
If healer stuff drops, main spec healers roll on it. If both main spec healers have it, then secondary spec healers roll on it. If there are no secondary healers or they already have it, then it's free lot. -

Static groups are small, and loots come often enough.
New raid member not allowed a chance to loot. That's bad idea : "Hi we need you but you are new to the group so you help us but get nothing. And If old members have a lot of point you will get nothing for a long time."
But whatever works for your FC. -

Went for DKP but really not needed, at the end. If members have "need" rights on loot, only the one who really the loot improves his gear, can and will need, everyone other must pass.
If not improves gear or no one can need, everyone can greed (the 'need' members must greed), and 'pass' is courtesy to the other members.
Who fails this simply rules is, again simply, put out of raiding for 15 days. -

The only added thing to this is to please not greed on things you cannot equip (due to not having said class at lvl 50). -

I really don't see the point of this. I mean in my static the other healer and I know we have different stat priorities, so since she's a whm she gets first dibs at armor, and as sch i get dibs on accessories. Only thing I can see this working for is sands/oils/tomestones, and there's plenty of chances to get these without raiding.

The current group I am in rolls need only on main jobs. After that, we just have a mutual respect for one another. If we see someone that plays a class a lot more than everyone else and nobody has it as a main or already has the loot, we generally pass. With me and the other tanks it is the same, just making sure we get geared up together. If someone is late or misses a raid, they would certainly get an ear full but if they have their reasons, fair enough because real life comes first. But should someone miss raids or is continually late, then I imaginde my raid leaders would take action, be it replacing or loot lockout for a week.
