Suggestion - Atma and desynthesis

I'm sure you are well aware of the difficulty some players have with obtaining Atma for their Relic upgrade. This is getting increasingly difficult because most players have already finished this phase of their Relic upgrade and have moved on, leaving the last unlucky few (as well as new players) to tackle FATEs mostly on their own. The process is much lenghtier than it used to be due to lack of participants.

I'm aware that increasing drop rates for Atmas in FATEs might produce situations where luckier players would accumulate Atmas beyond what they need, but this is where my suggestion comes in:

Increase the drop rate for Atmas but also make them Desynthable at a high level (70-90). Use this to solve another problem: the ridiculous amount of Fieldcraft III Demimateria required to upgrade crafting and gathering tools to Supra (10 per tool? seriously? Mastercraft Demimateria are easier to obtain and you only need 3 per tool).

Excess Atmas could be Desynthed by any crafting class (or select crafting class if you prefer), and could yield Crystals and Clusters most of the time, and on rare occasion Fieldcraft III Demimateria, which are too rare and costly for most players.

This would *slightly* ease the demand for both Atmas and Fieldcraft III Demimateria, while still keeping the means to obtain Demimateria confined to Desynthesis, and it would get players back in FATEs again.

That's not a bad idea.

Another thought that's been bouncing around my FC and Linkshell is the idea that maybe you could work towards your ATMA regardless of your class level. You'd still have to have a level 50 with relic and all that to unlock it of course, but at the very least the time would be more productively spent and feel a little less like the tedious grind from hell. Something like that would even inspire me to care about upgrading another relic once I got another job to 50.

I realize that only has relevance if you still have alternate classes to level up, but the majority of the people I know are in this boat, so I don't think it's unreasonable to assume that it could be a benefit to most. And, personally, I would be very happy to see the number of things I have to grind dropped a little. We have a lot of those things as it is, and 2.4 will see us get more. A little love in this area would be much appreciated. :P

I really hate that I can't do squat on my other classes because I'm stuck farming atma. I'd love to be able to at a min change to a non 50 level job and grind the atma so I get Xp also. Doing fates for seals, very little coin, and no Xp SUCKS SE.

Moreover, if you think it could be Desynthed by any crafting class,
then it should not be desynthable at a high level (70-90), it should be desynthable at the beginning (skill 1.0) ^^;

Hey there,

Atma are special items that are utilized as part of the Zodiac weapon quest and as such we do not have plans of using them in other content such as desynthesis.

Dude really? Out of ALL the complaints and suggestions regarding the craptastic feature that is ATMA. THIS is the one you (representing the dev team of course) response to?!

Might as well put on some white gloves while you slap all of us across the face. At least, there's a tad of dignity to it.

Why do people keep whining in situations like these? Do you really need the development team to keep repeating that they have no plans (at the moment) to do anything to the atma drop rate? By your logic they're not allowed to mention anything else about it.

sorry airget gotta disagree with re-posting that. Atma drops have been the BIGGEST controversy with very few comments from devs, without so much as a "No we are not increasing atma drop rate THIS patch" The vast community would like a response and instead get something like this. The other option is that they have been slowly increasing drop rates and dont want to tell people hey we really messed up so this is us fixing it. I have seen a lot more people cheering about how they are getting atma's more and more and no i don't believe they "just" won at rng. If they did, be nice if they just came out and said so.

My first 7 atmas I wasn't even trying to get them. I'd pass through the zone doing other things and would get them on my first 1-3 FATEs. Atmas 8, 9 and 10 took a bit of farming but nothing serious. Atma 11 took me 4 days of farming FATEs for 2-3 hours per day. Atma 12 I got it in my first 3 FATEs.

Regardless, I don't think that the vast community is complaining that much about atmas.

People still complain about Atmas...? I figured people had their Atma Weapons by now, why don't you play the game instead of complaining. As for desynthing them, makes no sense to do so to me.

This may be the case in your circle on Phoenix, but I assure you it's a very different tune for mine. We're all incredibly frustrated by the grind that is ATMA and the books. We just don't regularly gripe about it on the forums. And I'm fairly sure that's the case for a number of others as well.

Now, that said, I can't entirely fault Square for wanting to make the relics something you work for. However, I think an average reported time of 60-70 real time hours working on this, on top of everything else I've got to do in game (beast tribes, dungeons, leveling alt classes, gathering, etc.), is a bit ridiculous and generally not worth the effort in it's current state.

That's why I made my earlier suggestion. This doesn't have to be fancy, but they need to throw us some kind of bone!

Well, it's nice to know my suggestion at least got some attention, even if you're not moving forward with it. I just hope that at the very least, it helped put in light the two issues that are the current Atma drop rate (vs the time needed to solo FATEs now that everyone's done zerging them), and the overly excessive amount of Fieldcraft III Demimateria required to upgrade the tools to Supra

First of all, deal with it.
If you want Fieldcraft IIIs, there's PLENTY of them from 2 star furniture.
10 of those for the tool upgrade isn't much

The problem lies in that you might also be going the GSM artisan spectacles route which has a better chance for Mastercraft than Fieldcraft for obvious reasons: Artisan tools and spectacles were meant to be a source of Mastercraft.

Second of all, Fieldcraft from Atma? If ANYTHING it should be BATTLECRAFT because you know, its acquire through COMBAT and not from doing any Gathering or Crafting. And it still doesn't make sense to have those desynthable.

Now go make furniture and WRECK IT

I am merely here to challenge their approach. The whole quest line has been such a controversy. The reason you keep hearing people talking and discussing about it, its because Dev has yet to made a logical explanation and/or change to make the system better. They've "addressed" the issue once, change the color on the item icon.

Yes, I would like them to keep telling us they have no plans to do anything to the atma drop rates. In fact, they're already silently doing that. The more they beat around the bush on this issue , the worst it gets. So yes, I would like them to keep saying no, but give us a logical reason why gating their customers behind rehash low level content via RNG is enjoyable. If a majority of your player base does not enjoy the process, its broken.

Not enjoyable but it makes fates still relevant to the game instead of it dying off in high levels that's the obvious intention of it all. To make new players see other high lvl players and encourage them to continue. More money in SE's pockets. Deal with it or don't do it. It's not that hard to decide.

But they should still increase the atrocious drop rate.
