July 29th all world maintenance. What are they doing this time?
I'm guessing (and hoping) adjusting it so that the S ranks actually render for people?
That seems to be a huge issue.
Seems to be? Its a Giant Issue. 300+ People Zerg S Rank Hunt Mobs and you cant see the thing half the time.
That didn't seem to solve the problem. Many people, including me who is on a PC not even a PS3, still cannot see S ranks. I don't think I've seen a single S rank (and I don't even do the hunts that often) that I ran upon. I managed to somehow target an invisible one, but another one I came upon I couldn't even target and got 0 credit. Not only that but he killed me with an attack I couldn't even see on my screen.
I want them to fix the enmity issue so that everyone can get credit. :D I can hope...
It's been brutal for my ps3 friends. :( Many times their system just freezes and that's it. I've taken to suggesting the <tt> trick I used to use when I played on ps3 and a boss didn't render for me. (Target someone you CAN see and hope THEY can see the mark. :/ )
In part, this is why I hope they ease the enmity requirement for full (any) credit on these things. That way everyone who gets a hit in can get something. It would also help with the player rage some folks experience...
when there is problem in this game, don't expect it to be fix in 1-2 week, they don't know how to do that
wait until next patch
my bet is that they just change the render priority that all they gonna do
Sands of Time now requires 4000 marks.
Tweaking the render priority again seems like something that would just be slapped in a maintenance somewhere(Like the HP+ and first render fix piggybacking the Frontlines Queue adjustment), not something that would be the sole change in a maintenance specifically stated to be adjusting Elite Marks.
Make the Rank A and S behave like the last boss in Stone Vigil HM; make them capable of calling for aid/summoning adds.
Limit logs to 3 per week and cap Allied Seals earned weekly to 2000.
They should increase all the monsters hp a lot(and i mean a huuuuuuuge increase). This way at least ps3 users could reach them and kill them. This would be an easy fix and everyone could just take credit and get their points
I fought an S Ranked yesterday and saw the boss just fine...but it was like 50 people versus 100. And I had to basically faceroll my keyboard because I was lagging so bad. I'm not sure if they've already tried, but they need to seriously dumb down Particles and Models when there are many of them actively fighting. I could have sworn they did this with Behemoth as there's a huge difference when I fought him a year ago (couldn't see him, was a lag fest) and when I fought him a couple of weeks ago (saw him entire time, little lag).
Render priority was already changed, regardless of what people seem to think.
The issue that remains is the same as affected Odin and Behemoth which was something about grids and too many players being in one grid cause issues with seeing what's in adjacent grids. (Something server side iirc)
If they apply the same to elite marks or not... who knows.
I dont remember 100% of what they said but I do remember them specifically talking about increasing daily mark rewards. I don't recall any mention of them nerfing the content and the live letter was just a few days ago so I wouldn't hold my breath for any restrictions. I'm sure they know what they're doing. Lol
Im hoping for adjustments to daily mark rewards as well, but it's most likely the rendering issue.
Hunts are kind of ruining the game. They're too good. They're the best way of acquiring: myth, solidery and sands/oil. There's no reason to do anything else. Pretty much no one does Ramuh. All PF groups for it are unable to fill and disband.
Square desperately needs to do something about it.
I really hope they remove soldiery entirely or reduce the soldiery reward immensely. Adding soldiery to hunts i realize,( while yes i profitted from quick weekly capping), has destroyed another aspect of the game, dungeons. They've basically invalidated the need for high level dungeons. If they remove soldiery they give dungeons weight again. Keep the myth the same and increase the seal req for sands and oils and hunts would be pretty solid.
I think they should remove the cost of teleporting around, if you are in a group that is doing Hunts.
All the teleporting is bleeding me dry - Hunts are already not very profitable, having to pay this much money is just ridiculous. I bet this is the change they are planning, or at least I hope so.
Plenty of people are still running expert roulettes for their daily alexandrite so I don't think soldiery is really an issue. Soldiery has always been way too easy to cap, hunts or not.
I still don't think hunts should be dropping any allagan tomes though. There's no reason for *everything* to be coming from hunts. There's enough tomes coming from other things.
I feel its waaaaaaay too late to add a cap to seals. People have had more than enough time to go HAM on them.
At this point, they should just adjust the renders so people see the mob over 500000000 other players, pets, chocobos, egi's and minions. And make it so you get full credit for the fight as long as you are in proximity when it dies.
This maintenance might be implementing their plans to improve daily hunt yields. I'm hoping it's a drastic improvement, but I'm not holding my breath. My guess is they merely double it to 15 a day when they should be making it go up to 30-50 a day.
I can only see an S rank when I'm standing directly in the center of it and I'm on PC, sure is fun with all those giant AoEs.
I don't see nerfs coming anytime soon. I agree they are ruining the game, but they would upset more people by changing it this late than by keeping it that way.
1) Improving daily hunt rewards
2) Improving render priority for hunt targets
Those two are extremely likely given previous commentary from the live letter. Then there's this:
Increasing the HP is unlikely and fairly ineffective generally. It also has the adverse effect of making the content nearly invincible down the road when less people do hunts. I think they should add a timed (30-60s range) hyper-regeneration rate on pull that makes decreasing its HP% impossible until the timer stops. Lore-wise the mob could enter a rage-like state for being bothered (read: pulled). I think this is a pretty good solution because it still lets all classes obtain credit during said window (DPS do dmg even if it's regened back, tanks and healers stack enmity and dmg). If it was just an invincible shield vs hyper-regen, DPS would be screwed.Quote:

SE can afford to upset some of them. Not changing the system now, while still in its infancy, would be asinine.
They're not going to upset the people who have all their tomes and sands already. They're not going to particularly care. The people who are going to be pissed are the people who realize they suddenly have to actually work for the hunt rewards while those who got in early had it so easy.
Edit - If you're concerned that the rewards will be as incredibly lucrative in future patches (you know, when soldiery and mythology are outdated and useless), that'd be the good time to reduce rewards. Just have the new rewards be much smaller to put everyone on an even playing field. Nerfing the myth and soldiery now isn't going to accomplish anything but annoy newer players and those who came late to the hunts.
There's little reason to nerf hunts other than to please the small minority of people who whine about them.
Some people really have the most absurd ideas about this matter. It's like they don't like them, so they want to make it completely worthless for anyone to do them either.
Probably the same subsect of people who complained about ST dropping UATs and i100 gear.
The people who are just hitting 50 and hoping to have decent gear going into 2.4 will be hurt by the nerf. Meanwhile players who already have the good gear will not care. A nerf to hunt rewards at this point is going to only hurt new players.
But hey, if none of us are new players, why should we care? They should just nerf hunts now, after we've all received our rewards, so that newer players can only stand in awe of our sheer awesomeness (while they cancel their subscription since what took us a week to get will take them two months.)
Do you really think the people hunting elites are "a mere fraction of the population"? I dare to say there are more people doing hunts than dungeons.
I'm talking about current population, I don't have a magic 8-ball to see the future.
Also I wouldn't label it as an abuse, as for now unlimited sands and easy myth/sold are part of the devs design, whether we like it or not.
A nerf does not hurt new players. It really doesn't... at all. I barely partake in Hunts as is, and I barely do dungeons. While I'm not a new player, I'm essentially in the same position progressively that they would be. In no way would I see a nerf to Hunt rewards, so long as done under the impression of actually allowing better access for everyone to partake in, as a bad thing. New players will not be taking advantage of the logs, but rather the cheap i90 pieces. There's no reason a nerf should hurt that aspect (just killing a single B rank for the weekly will earn you more than enough for a free i90 piece).
As is, most people are upset about Hunts because of how limited of an accessible feature it is. If the rewards take longer, but players actually have better access to killing elites, you really won't see as many angry comments as you do now. If certain rewards are removed (e.g. logs), you also won't see as many angry comments, aside from those who were hoping for some quick access to gear they'll never take full advantage of in the first place.
Personally, I feel it's better to appease people by providing better access to let them work towards something, than keep them demoralized because their peers are blocking them from it. Then again, I actually want to enjoy the process rather than just the reward.
