Totally new to the spearchucking game at 50 and I have a question. I'm aware of, and currently practising the long-form rotation for max normal DPS. But what should I be doing if I'm on a normal add and it needs to die, like, RIGHT NOW? I've been skipping out on the DoTs and just opening with HT and blowing every random move I've got with OGCs in between, but it feels really sloppy and I'm quite sure I'm doing it wrong. Advice would be appreciated.

Depends really.. Are you talking about single mobs in the world or in a dungeon? Dungeon mobs have higher health, so it's usually OK to go through the long rotation, mobs out in the world are pretty weak though, so you can burst them down with just the TTT.
I've been multi-dotting mobs in dungeons, for that you just HT-I-D-C-Ph mob 1, I-D-C-Ph mob 2, HT-I-D-C-Ph mob 3, then go back and TTT to finish them off, HT'ing as needed.
If there are 4 or more mobs use AoE. Ring of Thorns is lower potency but longer lasting (less TP usage), Doom Spike is amazing with IR and B4B but will drain TP quickly and has some positional considerations because it's a straight line AoE. My usual AoE rotation is HT-(IR)-RoT-(B4B)- RoT spam/DS Spam. Reapply HT as needed and use Invigorate at around 300 TP. -

Boss adds and open world mobs generally be hit with the HT-TTT combo, and you can even weave in a RoT off HT combo if there are at least 3 mobs. For tougher mobs, such as raid adds ect, you can most likely cut Phleb out of the "normal" long rotation, and even cut some off-globals depending. Your HT-D-CT combo is quiet potent even without the full dot tick, and will help buff BRD and other DRG dps (who are usually baddies and don't apply Disembowel). If you are using RoT, only use it when comboed with HT, for very efficient 120 TP/ 150 potency. Outside of that you would only want to use RoT when you can absolutely not hit a huge chunk of a pulls mobs with doomspike, due to its line shape.
Also there is no reason to not use invigorate at 500 TP. -

About Amon's slugs, it's all different because of their low hp. You can use Spineshatter and Dragonfire Dive to cover the distance "gap" and stun with the first one at the same time. Since the first two slugs are basically at the beginning of the fight I usually hold down those two jumps for them and then continue/start the TTT combo. If I remember well with my rotation one of them spawn just at the same time I have a Full Thrust ready. -

So even if you use it on him the stun will take a second or less before be really effective allowing the monster to move a bit and maybe losing the HT. In a solo scenario you can correct this, on big pulls when things get messy you need better timing. Sometimes I use Leg Sweep on one mob of the group before arriving to the camp for a easy HT, but this mess up the aggro and if you got a sleepy tank can be annoying.Quote:

Back to the OP, your question is burning down a single add. The key factor to understand is how long the add is going to live for. If it is only 15 secs then it's best to HT-ID-DIS-TTT while weaving in off global cool downs. Notice there is no Chaos thrust, because the mob won't live long enough to utilize all the ticks and getting the full potency of the TTT rotation is better than HT-ID-DIS-CT-True-Vorpal.
If the mob were to live for 20secs then you'd want to do HT-PH-ID-DIS-CT-TTT. You add in the Ph and the CT cause you can get the full ticks of PH and the potency and couple ticks of CT is better than only getting an extra True -> Vorpal at the end of TTT rotation -
