Dalamud strilkes a second time?

This was a really cool event from 1.0 that many of us missed.

I had read about Lightning Strikes event being brought back a third time due to popular demand and wanted to see if I could get some support behind the Dalamud strikes event being brought back a second time. I heard rumors that this event coming back may have already been green lighted!

This event had really cool music, special sky effect and enemy invasions. It was really cool and unique and I think most people would agree that everyone should get to enjoy it, just not the legacy players from 1.0.

I know some of you say that events are special and shouldn't be repeated but you really need to share with the rest of us. Some of the special items released during the event could be brought back too, like the Dalamud Horn costume piece looks really cool:

I wasn't able to be around during 1.0 to do the event because I just didn't feel like playing back then. I don't feel that should prevent me from seeing this event first hand though!

There is the issue with what happens at the end of the event, where the meteor wipes out all life on the planet. To take care of that, I thought SE could do a crossover with Dragonball Z and just have Goku blow up the meteor at the end of the event this time. Having Link from the Legend of Zelda franchise just roll back time would work too.

Thoughts?

Seriously Cherie, no. Just no. The Legacy Campaign was a 'thank you' from SE to those 1.0 players who continued to play when subscriptions became payable (so many 1.0 players abandoned the game simply because they had to now pay to play it). And as 1.0 is long gone, bringing the Legacy chocobo back (because that's the only benefit really still relevant to this thread, the other bonuses were once-offs that simply cannot be gained again, like having the player's name in the end credits, and having day 1 access for Phase 1 of the Beta test) completely invalidates the point of it in the first place.

As for the special '7th Umbral Events' that happened in the game in the lead up to 1.0's shut down, that was the whole point - it was to give an in-universe reason for the massive changes to the game's design (specifically, maps) that were going to be occurring in the change over to ARR. So thus something like that will never be happening again as there simply is no reason for it (unless SE decides to do something similar to explain other realm-shattering changes to the game's design, like the sudden opening up of new maps). Basically, its over and done with and is never coming back. Just accept it and move on.

Are you aware of the magnitude and time span of that event? If you just want the rewards from the quests (Ring and Horn) just ask for them being bought via myths/soldiery/allied seals since SE doesn't seem to have a problem handing stuff to people. But this event should not be repeated in any case or circumstance.

Omg.... The lag. It was excruciating during the event back then. Now multiply by like a hundred. Yuckers.

I totally agree with the OP. It's really unfair to not be allowed to play the event just because I wasn't playing then. But I'm sure the white knights will be along shortly to defend any decision to not do this...

I'd like to see some cut scene episodes using the Echo during quests, or even in the book in the inn. That's what I feel most bummed about.

Here is the end game event you so want, prey at stones... Then zerg fest at aetheryte camps and in the cities. It was huge amounts of lag rarely saw the monsters that killed you, usually 1 shot. And then came the battle of carteneau... Was nothing like the cutscene... It was small patrol parties you engaged, and when the large battle supposedly occured you either lagged so much you didnt participate much and or dced never to get back on. There was nothing wow about any of it... Most people avoided mor dhona for that reason. The only part that we really enjoyed and were surprised by was the End of Era trailer which you see in the opening. So no please, I look forward to 2.0's Dalamud that we are promised more than relive that event.

As someone who was playing in 1.0 for a while...

I'm not even complaining that I missed it all. Yes, it sucks, but I only got to level 25 at the time, so I couldn't do most of it. Oh well, poor me, moving along now.

I didn't participate in the Legacy Campaign. Once the beta ended for 1.0, I fled away from it as far as possible. I even went so far as to insistently persuade my friends, who were interested in getting this game, from wasting money on it.

With that being said, I don't want this. Would I like to have the Legacy Chocobo? Sure. I wouldn't mind, but let those who did stick around to play 1.0 have their special, limited edition trinkets. They more than deserve it. I'm kind of getting tired of rewards that were meant to be exclusive are turning out to not be so exclusive.

Honestly? They could at least do a Wandering Minstrel variant of it. Many of us weren't able to actually see the event happen, much less participate in it. It wouldn't necessarily have to have any rewards (other than maybe some old non-event 1.0-exclusive items with designs not found in 2.0 and beyond, like the Star Spangled Subligar and such, maybe a Wind-Up Nael Van Darnus?), but it would be nice JUST to be able to experience that fight at least once.

Technically I think we sort of have a version of the fight in the form of... something that's in the game that I won't spoil when and where it is. But I'm not sure yet how similar it actually is to the original fight.

It is more of an Extreme and Savage version of the 1.0 fight is best way I can explain it, only reason I call it that is, it does have features not in the original fight.

Interestingly enough, the 'Answers' theme that hauntingly played in the background during the final events of FFXIV 1.0 is in the music files for v2.3 with a 'Season' tag on it. I think something big is going to happen around the end of August.

Doubt it'll ever be coming back, not necessarily because they don't want to, but because it's not worth the investment. All content for the entire event was designed and built for the old engine. For all intents and purposes, ARR is an entirely new game, and so they likely can't straight up use any of the 1.0 fights/events/cutscenes etc. as is. They'd have to redo all of that for the ARR engine.

Also, considering the issues with Odin/Behemoth/Hunts, it's not going to be pretty if they did decide to redo that stuff for ARR :)

I doubt the 'Dalamud' reprise of Answers that's been datamined in the 2.3 patch file has anything to do with the first anniversary of ARR's launch (plus that will kind of be the same time that the regular summer event 'Moonfire Faire' will be taking place.

If anything it's more likely there will be some kind of event around the second anniversary of 1.0's shutdown (November 11th) which is the date the in-game Calamity actually happened, and when that track was actually used in 1.0 - goddess I still remember how spooky that was hearing it replace all zone BGM in the game :)).

But then stranger things have happened, and I'm quite happy to be proven wrong about this. :D So I guess it's going to be a very interesting few months for this game! :D

Could be, could be. I look forward to seeing what they do with this. Honestly, I would have suggested the server shut down, but I couldn't remember the exact date for the 1.0 end.

To be clear, Legacy campaign and the 7th umbral era story are 2 different things.

For the 7th umbral era story, this questline is gone and would never come back.
But if it is only for the last battle, SE could always bring another garlean invasion event or Atomos event (maybe Atomos as an Super S elite Hunt ^^).

Well....turn 9....I know it's not the same magnitude, but they could do it in some form.

Also, 1.0 was shut down for many reasons, the lag/delays was maybe one of the reasons. ARR doesn't suffer from the same issues, so the 1.0 lag is not a reason to not add it in ARR.
That said, Uhm, i miss the whole thing with Dalamud aproaching, and all that, but...i'm quite sure it's not gonna happen :) But theoretically they could do an echo-scenario or such. Maybe gold saucer, could have some cinema-cut-scene thing.

From the video in the OP, they want the full event, most of the components of the event were based around Dalamud, and it's proximity to Hydaelyn, the atmospheric disturbance, the behaviour of mobs etc. So a live event wouldn't work because we have no Dalamud now. Others were Garlean invasions, but in the lore Garlemald has given up on conquering Eorzea, for now at least. So we couldn't have many more Garleans around. The only real part we can have is an echo or minstrel's ballad of the fight against Van Darnus and Atomos (I would love to see him out of CT.)

I would certainly like the chance to replay Ifrit / Garuda HM Raven and Rivenroad. No idea how it could be done though.

Maybe with bringing back animation-lock specially for those fights ^^
And limiting the attack range to objects high over the character (the meteors in the raven fight)
