You can not have a competitive open world mob with such a large community. It just doesn't work!
If it were XI or 1.0 XIV then it would be manageable but this community is too large for these hunts to be free for all.

Agreed. Leves/Treasure Maps would have addressed every issue.
This is exactly how I would like them to fix this problem.
I mean i would fix it by making the weekly/daily giving a ton of seals, and reduce from random kills, making constant farming less appealing.
This current system is just silly and a pointless time sink.
Agree, please make it like leves / treasure maps
Maps are on a 24hr timer, unless you buy them. Leves are on an 8hr. Say they stick with what is supposed to be right now, daily and weekly. Just make them triggered/accepted individually run like a leve and once triggered anyone in your current party can participate. This is how I thought they were going to be and was extremely disappointed when I found out how they actually did implement Hunts...
Leves would be a great solution. It's not the farming I care about so much it's the option to just participate. Most people are lucky to even arrive on time let alone get a hit in for credit. The end game fcs are completely dominating the hunts with the use of the cheating app.
Or you can make it so that the mobs are phased. For instance, remember open world dungeons from 1.0? Imagine if they brought those back for the Hunts. You have a bill active? Great, now you can gather some friends, or shout for a group. Upon doing so, you can go into there and the mob is there waiting for you somewhere within. This will of course limit how often you can do it, or encourage you to join more random people who have not done it yet that day/week etc. Now you don't have to deal with things disappearing, or having to port into an area and watching it die before your eyes in slow motion as you scream in horror and disdain.
Agree with this thread except I think A and B rank should be like maps but you can leave S rank to be open world like they are now.
That way those massive large parties can continue their zerg fests but small parties and FC can still take part and enjoy without fighting with the bigger groups.
I think that would be a solution that works for everyone.
But most of all.... Can we please get some concrete response from the staff? ]The HP bandaid did not work and a lot of people are still feeling disappointed and left out of this system!
Maybe if the leves cost points
50 points for rank B NM leve
150 points for rank A NM leve
450 points for a rank S NM leve
Need to do first a rank B leve before you can buy a rank A leve and first a rank A leve before you can buy a rank S leve.
points can be earned in FATEs
Lv1-20 FATEs = 1 point
Lv21-40 FATEs = 5 points
Lv41-50 FATEs = 10 points
The Hunt can then be looking like this

Oh no please no more FATE related content. We have enough thank you.
I agree. I think they should be made like Treasure maps. Maybe they could work like Dailies. At least for S rank ones. Maybe B and A could be bought with alot of seals and Myth? But I was thinking you get one from doing a roulette(or buying it) go to the area the map tells you then fight the monster. B rank could recommend one member. A rank could be 4 and S could be 8. People could get their seals and stop fighting over claiming, pulling, etc. They'd all have their own hunt monster to kill. Instead of it looking like a treasure map it could look like a wanted poster. Since you're hunting.
Sorry if the idea is stupid. But I agree. I think them at least being somewhat difficult treasure maps could help. People could still call for help and enjoy the open world and stuff.
There's a very simple way it can work - you go out and get your mark papers like you do now but it leads you to a location (similar to maps) and you kill your Mark. No more competition. No more cheating. No more frustration.
B rank - Solo
A rank - Light Party
S rank - Full Party
Something that I've noticed - you could activate a hunt like a Leve and still need to search the entire area for a monster, and it would still have the feeling of going out and looking for a monster. You can even add a time limit to add an element of pressure to the hunt.
With a similar Leve system, you can also implement behaviors to the monster, like, it fleeing to reinforcements, or needing to be lured or trapped.
If you wanted to make it competitive, you could even have a competitive style hunt that would give rewards to all participants, but greater/bonus rewards to the one who successfully 'trapped' the elite mark.
This would be a far better solution than the current version, and could actually make hunts a fun activity that isn't toxic to the community. Unfortunately, the system as it is, just can't sustain the interest the rewards generate.
Back in my day, we had a system in FFXIV called Faction Leves, which would pit us against NMs and "wanted" targets. Sadly though, people say FFXIV 1.0 and 1.23 did absolutely nothing correct.
People say a lot of things. It's best not to consider Hyperbole the actual course of conversation. The primary argument against 1.23 is that it ran on an broken system that was re-rigged to cater to an audience of roughly 30-60k people. The game now plays host to a potential over 2 million.
I liked Faction Leves. I do feel, however that Grand Company Leves did a good job of approximating some of these.
For Elite Marks to function like Faction Leves, however, would be a good idea.
Maybe I'm the only one, but when they announced the hunts I kind of thought it would be like hunts in FFXII. You would go the hunt board and there would be a list of available hunts based upon your level, storyline progression, and hunt clan ranking. You would accept the hunt, go find an NPC that would give you a location or hints or even a map, and then you would go out into the open world and find the hunt which might just be sitting in a specific location or might have specific spawn conditions like taking the right combination of airship rides between the cities or waiting in the right part of a cavern where the sun shines through a hole. The current system is obviously not what I was expecting.
And yes, adding hunts to leves or guildhests would have been perfect ways to breathe life into content that has kind of been DOA.
Actually it would help that the ones that are open, like currently, are as hard as odin. Not exactly that hard but you know it takes a while even as a group.
Yet the ones that aren't that hard as gated behind a couple of group pulls.
Thus giving meaning to both easy and hard marks needing parties.
I am all for this, tho if we had to pay for the bills to pop the NM, I would like it to be grand company seals (we are getting the hunts from them anyway), I've got 150,000 seals to burn and this game keeps tryin to give me more lol.

I would like this a million times if I could. I have only managed to even see 3 hunt mobs since it was implemented. And have only managed to actually get credit on one. Current system just doesn't work unless you cheat.
This is exactly what I've been thinking about the system as well. I would LOVE hunts to be more like treasure maps, but as it is now I have absolutely 0 interest in doing it because most people either cheat or are horrible to each other about it.
Overwhelmingly positive response to this suggestion makes me wonder why they didn't do it this way. Hopefully we can see a reply about hunts sometime soon.
If you choose to ignore everything about a game that no longer exists (in its original form), regardless of any working features and functions it may have had, then you're just shortsighted/narrow minded. That's like looking back at any failed business (see Blockbuster) and saying that because it failed, everything about it is automatically bad. A business that dealt with people paying to rent things? Dumbest idea ever... amirite?
This game has too many players D:
I agree OP I feel like these would have been a better way to implement Hunts. The main reason I've avoided even TRYING Hunts is watching my FC members camping it forever or running to get credit on it only for the mob to die super quick. On top of a bunch of people taking it WAY too seriously and being douches about it....
Yeeaaa, {No thanks} SE -_-
Maybe you should listen to the people & tweak Hunts.. ALOT! ^_^b
Going by the OP's suggestion, two things could come from it.
1) Add a new type of allowances that are given after a certain amount of time has passed.
2) Make hunt marks tradeable for leve allowances. This would give a use to leve allowances that I'm sure have hit the 99 cap since you're not doing leves unless you're leveling a class. This would also pseudo mimic the rep thing they had with the Horn and Hand, Broken Blade and Azeyma's Shields in 1.0, since I recall you had to do certain things to get leves affiliated with those three factions.
I also would prefer if they work like Leves. Although it is kinda nice to meet one of them while doing other stuff in the Open World, I can't see myself riding through the zones hunting them for the vague chance of seeing them more regularly. I know right know a hell lot of people are doing it but it is nothing for me. When I have 2-4 hours to play on a regular evening, I just don't wanna spend a good portion of it waiting or searching. Not for FATES, not for hunt monsters, not for anything.
I'd like to have 4-8 player leves instead where the mob spawns only for you and your group. And without waiting or searching times. They can reduce the rewards or limit the number of hunt leves you can get so people don't break the system by spamming hunt leves without end.
It's not a good suggestion. Having force spawned hunts is like doing Trials. It defeats the purpose of open world when you artificially create a dungeon.
exept the open world content we have right now, only serve a few elites... when i see people saying, yes it work for our 6 LS.... LS is limited to 128 people x 6 it means 768 player, when the total of population on the server pass the 5000-6000! when a system is only usefull to a bunch it's a bad system!
however get ride of the Rank S target will be a bad idea, but the reward need to be rework and more important make an emote that say that the boss did spawn, without give it location. like this exit the ls that simply keeping the rank S for them! and more important, add more than 1 per area... and more often than 1 time every 48 hours. Hunt actually it's not playing, we spend 90% of our time to wait for the spawn!
Plz do not do this.. Keep it 100% open world no instance..
--->> the reason so many ppl hate the content is because so many ppl are doing this content because it is The ONLY form of open world content.. Some are gonna say fates are open worl blah blah blah lol.. No ty.. Keep hunts the way they are..
I have had no problems with the hunt system. I came back for 2.3, had alot of catching up to do, and hunts helped me out a bunch. I got into a hunt LS, and i actively participated, and when i did, i was rewarded. I just got into a FC for casual folks, im on balmung, connecting from south korea, and yeah sometimes i dont get full credit or even any credit, but thats life lol. The system is still awesome. Hell while solo i\\\\'ve reported 6-7 rank B, 2-3 rank A\\\\'s. I got barely any credit for them because i was solo, but i didn\\\\'t mind , i was farming atmas.
If you actively are scanning zones, tracking death timers, and running around "hunting", you will be rewarded.
If you dont want to rush around, hunting, the duty finder still offers plenty of ways to farm mythology.
If your concerned with your relic not progressing as fast as others, go hunt. It\\\\'s that simple.
Most things in life require some hard work. Get used to it i guess?
No..the reason people are doing this is because of the rewards offered. As long as you farm the Allied Seals you can get Sands/Oils/Tomestones for Soldiery items you can't even afford yet, but eventually will be able to upgrade. There's no lockout and it's made easier with a 3rd party app that was largely ignored until this came along. The daily rewards from the GCs aren't worth it at all, 7 Allied Seals a day when you can just join these Linkshells/parties and leech the benefits from them (which is what's really happening). It's not a Hunt it's a Slaughter. It's made the community even uglier than it was before. It's left a bad taste in people's mouths and SE has to do something about it along the lines of ideas brought up in this topic and other topics.
This completely eliminates the positives of the hunt. Run to red circle, fight monster, woo hoo. This is the exact type of content that we already have a ton of. Hunts may have been poorly implemented, but open world content is very much what people wanted. The rewards are just too damn good. For the first time the term "adventurer" actually makes sense. We have plenty of instances/red circles.
