I would have figured the murder damage from not having 3-stacks up would apply to pets also if they were the hate target.

Pets take damages divided by ~3 if it's a magic attack. Ramuh only does magic attacks :>

That was different and refreshing. A bit awkward not being the tank... or having a tank at all, but fun nonetheless!

It's not hard, when you know how to place your full buffed enkindle combo at start, aslong you keep an eye on titan-egi buffs, he will never lose agro, just like a real tank.

Damn how hard is it to find tanks that people have to resort to using Titan-egi. Good use of Titian though. Was he buffed in the 2.3? There was note of how summon actions were getting a potency buff but not much else.

Thanks :) and to answer your question about titan-egi, nope, titan-egi is kinda OP since the release of 2.0, it even got a small nerf at a moment if I remember correct but it's still a very nice tank all around, I myself tanked a lot of ig-contents with it :p

If they wanted to get rid of this strategy a better fix would be to buff Ramuh's 1-shot mechanic to higher numbers.

That said, bravo. Of all the things I was expecting to come from this patch, Titan tanking Ramuh-Ex was definitely not one of them lol

If this becomes a standard strategy cuz people always want more dps than SE WILL have to buff ramuh or nerf egi.

Yes, let's nerf a tanking pet for being able to tank with proper support from the healers. Better nerf SCH DPS while we're at it before there's a 7SCH 1SMN video of Ramuh EX also.


I take it the SMN had a VIT build to summon the Egi in with as much HP as possible?

As long as you don't touch Spur/rouse/etc as that'll force a stat reset the HP will be up. Also, as said, Topaz/Titan was designed as a solo play Tank mainly, not that it can't work but..do you see content where you can only queue as a SMN tank? No PLD or WAR?

Right, because there's absolutely nothing wrong with bypassing the need for a tank with Titan-egi in content that is supposed to require a full party and is current...

I appreciate novel group comps to clear stuff (40 priests in Molten Core comes to mind), but how this is handled will be determined by how prominent this use of Titan-egi becomes. If it does become widespread the devs would have no option but to nerf SMN, Titan-egi or both. I'm more the type to nip things in the bud, which is why I'd expect them to do it before it becomes prominent.

I play a tank and I'm not upset. I'm glad alternate strategies exist for different pieces of content. It spices things up a bit. Even if this is becomes a "default" strategy, I doubt all groups would be able to pull it off. Even still, there's tons of other content in the game so I don't think I'll be out of a job anytime soon :)

In Rift, when a guild tanked an end game boss using a pet tank (and thus bypassing lots of mechanics including tank swap mechanics), the entire guild got heavily punished, on top of a temporary ban. Wonder what SE would do. I am pretty sure they wouldn't leave a boss tankable by a pet though.

Seeing as how Titan-Egi is labeled as a "Tank-type" pet I would really hope that they do not remove the ability to tank endgame with him. They wish to bring in hybrid jobs in the future and this is a perfect example of a hybrid in action. They'll have to figure out a way to balance it out in other content and make it more equal to PLD/WAR but it should definitely remain an option.

This was obviously possible because Titan-egi is a ground-type, and as such is immune to Ramuh's electric moves.

Shoot, what sort of skill cap do you feel you need for this strategy? Is it as easy to perform as the one used in Moogle-EX? (3 tank strat)? If it is, I might well go and build a PF specifically for this using Tank accessories on my SMN. I'm tired of the bad parties at this point and just want to clear it, lol.

People act like this is the first time people have tanked bosses with just Titan-egi.

Don't worry about the accessories. When Rouse/Spur wear off your pet's stats revert to your current gear. So you have to choose between not using the buffs or gimping your own damage by a lot with the use of tank accessories full time. With the reduction in damage pets have already I'd say it would be more beneficial to have them deal more damage for enmity and for your own hits to be more powerful to kill faster.

even if you nerf your own DPS, though, you'll still be out-DPS'ing any tank even in full tanking accessories. Though the Damage aspect is... quite interesting, as you're right- that helps with threat.

Nope, cause honestly if SE had a policy like this then all the Beast tamers, puppetmasters and summoners would of been banned for pet tanking lol.

It was an awesome way to get our first kill and we wanted it to be special so we thought a little (or completely? xD) outside of the box and this is what we came up with.

There is nothing wrong with trying new things and being creative, SE seems to always promote creativity so I don't think any harm will come to us about this Pantz, but thanks for your concern.

The setup doesn't need to be 5 bards btw for anyone wondering, we just went 5 bards cause it was funny and that's the only ranged alts they had with some gear.

Any one ever read the requirements for "The Striking Tree Extreme". And it is a tank pet so. Haters gonna hate. Be happy Titan-Egi needs love too.

I have tried your strategy with SMN tanking, it worked out really great. We only got Ramuh down to 50% but we still work more on thunder rings, orbs, chaos debuff, and tethering. Your strat is the best on the top! Many thanks!

Well, I have nothing against creativity or trying out new ways to do stuff, but that's not the point. The point is Titan-Egi doesn't need the buff to eat Shock Strike, which is ignoring a tank mechanic entirely.

You guys are creative and clever, I'll give you that much.

I guess we have a T2 enrage situation here, so I'm not sure what's SE going to do. I doubt this is "working as intended" but anything can happen...or nothing at all.

That's just one of our member that dint have a mic. We were joking about the fact ramuh currently has a slight bug with pets, making him aggro the group when still inside the protective circle (happened 3 times in a row).
