My question too, and consern for the community.

To start, I know my ranks/physical level are not high as I have only recently (withing the past two weeks) started playing full time but, I think this needs to be said.

I am able to see why people are angry at this patch as it was a very large change and it was only a small part of what is to come but, all of this fighting amongst ourselves will do no good. (I'm looking at you post entitled "SP nerfed. We were lied to.") Instead of pointing fingers at each other; or at Yoshi-P for that matter; why doesn't the community begin to help one another out?

When FFXI come to the united states it was already prepackaged with the first expansion. Leveling camps were already somewhat established by the Japanese community that had had the game at least a full year before hand so not much work was needed on our part other then learning of them.

When new expansions were released we found new camps to compliment the ones we had, we had posted guides to help with getting the keys for Kazham and other such missions, people at that time at least helped to get things established for the community.

Now, Yoshi-P had made the statement that Guild Leves will no longer be the main focus on gaining levels but in fact be more catered to players who do not have a lot of time to play and a supplement to SP gain. That's fine, now that we have that information why don't we as a community (the founding fathers so to speak) of FFXIV lay the groundwork for the community as a whole and for future players.

Why don't we go out as a party of 4 or as a solo player, search for the leveling camps, search for the mobs that net good SP/hr that have decent re-spawn rates, test the areas and see how many parties/soloer the camps we find can support and present them to the community and help each other out instead of bickering amongst ourselves.

We're never going to get anywhere if we don't start somewhere. The changes will come and we will all have to adapt to them. People are saying they don't like auto attack but, FFXI had auto attack and I don't see anyone griping that it sucked. We were used to spamming one button to attack and gain TP, now that it has been made more like FFXIs' system more passive, people are angry? I honestly don't understand that especially if it's coming from former players or current players of FFXI.

All in all, I'm just saying why don't we start acting as a community rather then individuals.

One last thing. Yes, I've played around with the party invite feature and yeah, it is a bit clunky. Could it work better? Yes, it could but at this time it doesn't. The forums are here for a reason, the devs have shown that they read them. If we want our voices heard we can, in a calm manner voice our opinions and concerns and hope that they listen and hope for the best. That is all we can do. :)

Because I think... they are real. It's all real. Think about it. Haven't Luke Skywalker and Santa Claus affected your lives more than most real people in this room? I mean, whether Jesus is real or not, he... he's had a bigger impact on the world than any of us have. And the same could be said of Bugs Bunny and, a-and Superman and Harry Potter. They've changed my life, changed the way I act on the Earth. Doesn't that make them kind of "real." They might be imaginary, but, but they're more important than most of us here. And they're all gonna be around long after we're dead. So in a way, those things are more realer than any of us.

I was actually coming into this thread thinking it would be a bunch of whining, and was pleasently surprised. You have a lot of good points. The problem is, finding the people willing to do this in this new era of MMOs. That being said, best use of a first post I have seen in..atleast a good long while.

I completely agree. Unfortunately on the forums, at least here in General Discussion, there are a ton of people are convinced that SE absolutely has to listen to their input, or the SE is out to personally taunt them by making class balances, etc. I think most of the time people have some reasonable constructive and well intended ideas and critiques, however the problem lies with how a small select few are unwilling to discuss things without doing exactly what you mention.

Its really quite sad because it really ruins the social aspect of the game for the rest of us when a small group of players are so belligerent and absolutely convinced that they are right and everyone else is wrong.

The advice is out there. The biggest issue is in getting people to listen.
I've learned plenty of handy tools about where to lvl from places like this forum and linkshells. Most people are simply too stubborn to listen to others

I think SE is too *** to respond to us atm. They're terrified and waiting a few days or a week to see how this turns out. They don't need to listen to all our input, but they do have to listen to the SP/EXP issue (it's just too big not to).

Maybe they thought they could get by with the bare foundation system until exp chains & what not are added. And then here we are being told to wait... again.

Nice try, but i actually read around here.

The idea of a community is nothing but a dream until people can actually enjoy playing this game realistically. The community will come together when there's something to come together for. Even then there will be whiny bitches, but at least there will be something worth fighting for amongst the sea of "wahhhhhhhhhh".

Until that monumental realization of the community, it's just naive to expect anything until then. And we won't be at that point until SE places us in a position to be at that point. Until then, here we are.

The double standard is that your first post in this thread was vulgar and off topic. There were other threads already established about the much debated SP issue. Yet you felt the need to thread jack by whining about an off-topic issue. That is the double-standard. If some posters actually thought before hitting reply, then we wouldn't have this issue.

Your second post while on-topic was rather condescending and you assumed that because you were told to stay on topic that we were holding a grudge against you. I have no grudge against you, I just would prefer that people don't condescendingly intrude in threads with off-topic banter.

I think you need to learn a valuable lesson. If you want to articulate your opinion and win people to your side of the discussion, it is better to do it in a less negative and rude fashion.

Also, everyone thinks they're right & tosses "minority" & "majority" around like they know what they're talking about. Please stop, the game's population speaks for itself. You could twist it by thinking that the "majority" is only the people who still play, but it's just not that simple. Nope, you guys were rude and threw around high horse crap: "people like you" etc. The SP issue actually is in the range of this topic, even the OP talked about it somewhat.

Also, being off topic doesn't = double standard. You guys were actually pretty condescending to me seeing as everything isn't all pony's and rainbows in this futile thread.

The dude has a point, I mean, if the community can actually collaborate on figuring out the best leveling spots (which I hear some people have figured out already) it could probably create a better sense of community and we wouldn't be at each other's throats like we seem to be lately. Also, people need to accept that MMOs are constantly changing, just because DoM got hit hard doesn't mean it'll be that way 3 years from now, and the whole SP/EXP thing? I'm sure it'll be changed again sooner or later (although, with people as they are, I wouldn't be surprised if they change it again next patch)

Someone did start another thread for the Limsa area with a map. So some people are trying to figure out what the best methods are. Just some greater collaboration as a whole would really help.

Despite what ranks I have I don't believe it makes many any more or less informed.

Before this thread turned into another flame-war, i was thinking that this games biggest weakness is it's VERY vocal minority. It's intimidating to the more casual or laid back players to do anything because of how quickly people are to simply tell them "you're wrong because you dont play as much as me"
In the end, these people have paid the same entry fee as everyone else and will pay the same monthly fee as the vocal complaint-driven crowd. The opinion of a rnk 5 pug is just as important as that of a rnk 50 con. It's just sad that they dont voice theirs as often.
