1500 myth for new i90 accessories?!

I know they said these had the potential to be "extremely powerful", but this is surely too much. 2 Raziqsands for the 2 gold ingots amd 1 emery doesn't seem appropriate for what it is. That's more myth than it would take to make any of the i90 chest or leg pieces and there are like 5 times the stats on those.

Needs an adjustment IMO.

It is meldable, there was no doubt about that. But so is the belt and that has the same stat caps, and comes with extra stats, and extra defence, and costs 650 myth. It's all out of sync.

It would be kind of nice if they balanced new recipes such that the rare/ expensive materials came form gathering rather than those being super cheap and easy to get while the myth items (which come primarily from playing combat classes) are the primary financial roadblock.

Why was there no doubt about that? SE has shown in i90 pvp gear the idea to exclude accessories from having materia slots; till server's up or dats mined it's anything but sure.

Edit: I guess the fact they cost 1500 myth is a good sign at least; nobody's touching those in the slightest if they aren't, at that cost.

The reason they didn't put i90 crafted accessories in at 2.2 was that they would outclass a lot of alternative options when melded. They're giving us them now because it won't screw with the gear balance so much. Crafted 90 gear without melds would be pretty pointless at this point.

I understand the concept of melded accessories; you just can't say it was a sure thing because it turned out to be slot-less in other i90 content.

They wouldn't be pointless exactly; they'd be for people to quickly gear up to i90 since t1-5 farming for accessories will dwindle even further.

Well, melding is the reason they described them as potentially "extremely powerful" during the E3 live letter, so it kinda was a sure thing. But eh, straying from the point here.

Honestly, I could justify 1000 tomes, but 1500 is way too much. They are not even trying to conceal the fact they don't want crafters get too much influence in endgame.

I wish SE would get out of the mentality of making crafting a side activity focused on glamour and housing. Just because most MMOs don't take crafting too seriously, it doesn't mean we have to do the same. We are our own class, and spending a lot of time just to make gear that will most likely be replaced by most raiders sooner rather than later isn't very encouraging.

Then again, trying to voice a dissenting opinion in these forums usually gets you a warning or a ban. Unfortunately there's not much room for constructive criticism, especially if it's not good for PR. Which is a shame, really, since there's so much potential.

I agree.

The new recipes are another slap in the face of crafters.
Do more dungeon farming or buy the expensive materials while gatherers undercut eachother into oblivion because nobody needs the materials they get.


I mean, just look at this recipe:

The Greater Key of Tremors
Demimateria of Crags x3
Battlecraft Demimateria III x10
Crag Heart
Terminus Putty x10
Enchanted Gold Ink

So you have to farm enough Tian weapons or even accessories, to be able to desynth them into 3 Demimateria or buy them, if they can be sold.
Then you have to farm some more to get a Crag Heart.
Next you need 10 Terminus Putty (hey cool that 1 synth gives 3, so you end up with 2 too much) which require 12 Tawny Latex or 1800 myth.
Ok Enchanted Ink is easy to get, yay!
All that's left is getting 10 Battlecraft Demimateria III for which you will have to desynth high level DoW/DoM gear (I guess). I don't have any clue how high the chance to get Demimateria is, but if it's 20%, which is a high chance, it would mean you have to desynth 50 items...
Then pray for HQ.

All that to get an ilvl95 weapon?
Yes you can meld materia in it, but you can't increase the main stats and materia is so cheap atm, just "shut up and take my money".
In the time to get all the stuff together I could run Levi EX often enough to get almost every weapon and upgrade some of them to ilvl100.

SE really loves crafters and gatherers.

I've got all my crafter's maxed, before my battle classes. I used to like it.

I think around 2.1, I stopped caring.

I hate it when a game puts aside some components of it.

Oh everyone like's this feature? Let's make it harder or nerf it, even removing it if they still like it so much..

How about replacing all the dungeon and raid gear drops with rare materials, and use these materials to craft the actual endgame gear?
Oh, wait. Raiders would cry a river because they are forced to get something crafted, or level up a crafting class.
It's more convenient to force crafters to run dungeons and raids to farm tomestones to buy mats to craft gear which is on par with drops.

You guys... do realize every single i70 crafted item required 1350 philosophy tomes, right? And with the new patch, myth tomes are even easier to get in large quantities than philo tomes were at that time. It certainly LOOKS heavy on paper, but it's actually not even close to as difficult as you're making out. Hell, if you run all five roulettes each day, that's between 570 and 615 tomestones of mythology right there. You can get enough for a new accessory every 2 and a half days. And that's not even throwing in the possibility of doing a run at Labyrinth of the Ancients, which now gives a full two hundred.

And let's look at the i90 accessories themselves. If you HQ one, its main stat is identical to an Allagan accessory. We are now capable of making items that equal the might of ancient Allag. The accessory comes with only one secondary stat, but that secondary is actually flat-out better than the secondaries on the Allagan version. (Example: an Allagan Choker of Casting grants +11 crit and +16 spell speed, while an HQ diamond choker grants +11 determination. This is flat-out better than either of those individually, since det has a much stronger weight than crit or sspeed.) So actually, a top-level goldsmith now has the ability to craft things that blow COIL gear right out of the water. And for some classes a pentamelded i90 could become BiS, just like certain pentamelded i70 pieces were BiS back during 2.1.

This is not the blow to crafters you seem to think it is. They've made it a 1500 myth cost, yes, but you can get that much easily in just two days of basic content, without even 'flox-grinding. And these items fill the same niche that 2* items did in 2.1.

not to mention the demimateria... seriously, in order to get mats you have to make stuff then take them apart? I can understand spiritbonding but this is just way too stupid for my taste

Crafters are the richest players. It's hard for non Crafters to make money. The money non Crafters make is by selling stuff TO Crafters so they can make even MORE money. Boohoo you have to take a few days to sell something to someone who needs to take a month to raise that gil.

You could also get 300 philo from running story roulette. Philo was generally a lot less useful (wasn't required for every single crafting recipe and wasn't needed in excess for the relic quest) so people had a surplus of it to sell to crafters for cheaper. The old stuff was much cheaper relatively speaking.

the +11 determination is equal (in stat weight) to +16 spell speed. The +11 crit just isn't there. The HQ i90 is just flat weaker. It *requires* melds just to make it as good as the i90 stuff. And who cares if the crafted item is equal the might of ancient Allag? All of those hero's accessories you buy with myth? They are also equal the might of ancient Allag. Except they cost only 375 myth, no crafting required.

BiS is i110 gear. For a DPS class, this does not blow i110 gear out of the water since you can't load it up with secondary stats like you could before. Its merits come from being able to put VIT on DPS/healer gear or STR on tank gear. It isn't going to be BiS for your role, but you may like it for the utility it provides (extra damage for a tank, extra health for everyone else).

That's not the cost. You HAVE to pentameld them or the crafted accessories are garbage. So it also requires a bunch of expensive materia (most of which will break while you try to meld it) and a crafter to do the melding. Not cheap, especially since materia has gotten very expensive lately.

What sucks is that they nerfed the i90 crafted accessories pretty heavily (from the i70 versions of the same gear), made melding mandatory, made it harder to craft AND made it cost more. No bueno.

Yeah, the cap on secondaries is lower by 3. And you get to add up to 27 points of secondaries on top of 15 vit. Let's say 21 points just cause extra melds on tier 4's are a pain. So 21 added onto 16, where an i110 accessory has 32 in secondaries altogether. (That's ignoring det but it works out to equivalent #s)

So the only problem is you need to spread the stats out a bit.

And WAR in particular does not have TP issues outside of AOE rotation. Skill speed helps their mitigation.

Parry's actually more of a useless stat than you think. Long story short parry mostly ends up in overcures in any situation that matters.

The fact that it requires melds does not belittle its value once it's done. A well-melded i90 ring will outclass dungeon drops for tanks up to probably about i150. SE realised this which is why we didn't get i90 versions of gryphonskin rings, which would've been ridiculous: STR 13 DEX 13 ACC 16 SKS 13 and then add VIT 15 CRIT 15 DET 6 (as an example, crit iv, det iv, vit iv, vit iv, crit iii melds)

Is that what you thought we'd get? That's insane.

you do realize that the chest/legs from last patch were 1450 myth, don't you? is it because these are accessories that you're offended?

I like to also point out that this method while wil lbe trivialized later like coke needed for darksteel ingots do ensure a certain maintainable price on the market. for 1500 myth people are very unlikely to sell it and if they do it will not be reasonable so it does keep it out of the hands of the new players that could use it to jump the system until the system out ranks it similar to i70 crafted gear. So while it may seemed targeted at us crafters I think it is more about not breaking the system with out a time investment on both the crafter and purchaser.
