Why don't you wait till tomorrow when someone can actually experience the content and answer your question? Are you simply requesting speculation? What good would that do?
Does there have to be. I don't understand the FATE hate and I'm in the process of farming ATMA. If they renamed FATES local events and removed the circle I bet people wouldn't mind them as much. Does it matter how they spawn them. Is there a great difference if the mob spawns with a blue circle or just appears 'in the wild'.
No time limit for one. All he's saying is Marks follow the same rules as every other Over world mob. Anybody can swing and if you hit a certain threshold for dmg on them you get the
rewards also. Theses mobs won't be marked on the map like a fate. it's going to take players looking for them. Also I highly doubt they will always pop in the same place.
- no blue circle
- no timer
- no procession bar
Yoshida actually said they will pop in a variety of different places (the same mark) so you can't just memorize where something spawns. So aside from reportedly unpredictable spawn points/ conditional spawning, no timer, no map indicator, and just technically not being FATEs, they are fairly similar to FATEs but they give much better rewards (at least categorically, the quantity might be terrible since there's no cap).
You earn a new flavor of lolgils and can buy fabulous end-game prizes with them.
Basically, FATEs but you have no idea where they are located untill you run into them. the NM's don't spawn in the same spot every time, so it will make it difficult for a zerging to happen ( at least for the first half of the fight lol). Or unless people start shouting IT'S HERE <pos> LOL.
Edit: Harder versions of FATEs without calling them FATEs.
I see what the OP is getting at. If there is no claim system, how is this any different from FATES? Because they are tougher to find and they aren't in a purple area? I can see people shouting on a map when one of these babies spawn and then everyone and their mother zerg it and kill it within seconds.
And so what if we want to discuss it now before it comes out? Isn't that what we do here on the forums? And going on Yoshi's explanation of this new hunt, it's not hard to see what it will be like.
What I don't understand is how its the SAME as fates? Its a completely different system with different goals and rewards and monsters. So basically, the ONLY thing that makes them even remotely similar is the fact that there is no claim to it. Why this surprises people when Yoshi-P has said on multiple occasions that this is his personal vision baffles me. He's not going to create content that is going to exclude any part of the community, which is exactly what a claiming system would do.
Personally I'm hoping that the one major difference is in the difficulty, I don't want to see FATEs 2.0 either myself so I'm hoping that the elite marks are very challenging fights and that the difficulty can scale with something like the number or people in the zone or something along those lines.
For me, my personal grudge against FATEs has everything to do with the lack of difficulty to do them. Due to the lack of difficulty I find them extremely boring and repetitive, but I would love to see some open world bosses with challenging mechanics that prevent them from just being zerged to death. I would even love to see a boss or 2 that are so hard we can't beat them without an extreme level of coordination between multiple FCs.
Aren't Odin and Behemoth supposed to be elder primals or something. And people are expecting simple monsters to require MORE skill than defeating a Primal?! Uh....... no problem here, I guess...? Now you have to ask yourself if FFXIV prides itself more on the lore (see SMN thread) or its players and keeping them happy. Honestly, I don't know. Anything more than a zergfest seems kind of farfetched.
That is exclusion, you make players not able to participate of certain content because they play another. Don`t go arround white knighting please. This game isn`t made for everyone to do everything with everyone. And surely hunts shouldn`t be.
They sound kind of similar to Odin. Well Odin is a fate but you can't see his circle till you are at him. The same thing could be said about elite marks but they don't have circles at all. You don't know where they are until someone finds one and starts shouting for people to kill it.
Exclusion would mean that you couldn't play the content at all. Its a pretty simple definition and has nothing to do with "white-knighting". Unlike making a claiming system that would certainly exclude people from the hunt simply because of a claim system that would prevent them from killing and getting credit for a hunt.
If you are part of a GC you can play front lines. Yes
Can you team up with friends outside of your GC, NO
Can you or they Change GC's. Yes.
Can you Then Play with your Friends. Yes.
It's not and Exclusion. It's a Choice. Frankly it doesn't matter. If I have a friend in my FC not part of our GC. They are in the wrong GC and
deserve me stabbing them in the face during Frontlines. This has nothing to do with the topic so start your own about how you feel excluded
because you chose the wrong GC.
According to Yoshi-P the elite marks are meant to be monsters that pose a great threat to the realm, not some simple monster. I'm not sure if you're trying to say they shouldn't be more powerful than Odin/Behemoth or if you're simply saying it probably won't happen (which I agree with). Considering how easy Odin and Behemoth are however I will be very disappointed if they are not more difficult.
Personally I'm still hoping that some day we get an Odin Extreme or something but it doesn't really fit into lore now that it's been used in the FATE. Regardless however, if your argument is that they shouldn't be harder because Odin/Behemoth are easy then I would have to disagree and say that Odin/Behemoth should be harder as well. Right now both of those FATEs are an absolute joke and always have been.
They don't lose the ranks. It is still there in the old GC while they build up a new rank in the new GC.
Excluding them from pvp in this example would be if they can't use the old ranks and can't build up a new rank.
About claim or not to claim
free running open world enemies = no claim (in this game we use kill sharing, so don't be surprised suddenly. Everyone can attack. The claimer need only to attack once, the others need to do at least enough dmg)
force poped enemies = party/player reserved enemies (but you would know then where it is, no hunting down)
I'm just saying then, in terms of difficulty, speculation is: Elite Monster > Elder Primal > FATE boss > ladybug
That seems kind of backwards in terms of progression. Oh, wait ...... nevermind.
15 days, not 1 month
If you want to know what exclusion is, you should have played 1.0
Once you choosed a GC you was in the GC forever.
doing Chocobo Escourts only with people from your GC. Doing them only in the region of your GC (as a twin adder member it was Tranquill and Treespeak). And no way to change another GC after it.
