Short of just mindlessly grinding monsters, which is slow, leves are pretty darn slow now with a friend. Just wait for 1.19? I mean.. I really don't know what to do to level.

How did you SP with frinds before ?
Levelink groups?
That is just as mind numbing.
Personally I like Party mob grinds. Some hate mob grinds and love quest grinding. I am glad for the changes.
The most efficient way to Sp in my opinion, is a good group grind on some mobs, try the new beast camps. They are all in a level range, all in close proximity, thus making it convienent.
I would get like 8 people and do 2 levinshower links etc, it was amazing SP.
Now if I try to do a leve with a friend, my friend gets 700 sp while I get 3500.. that is lame.
Now Leves are made to do them in a short time range. If you have some more free time, gather some friends and go outside (there is more world outside Broken Water and Halatali!!), and kill some mobs.
Beastman camps are good places!
Seriously , will people use their brains ....and make (4/5 people) Group Pty ?
That is now the best way to win Good & fast SP .
I just got my swiss friends to play in Mysidia, and what we basically do is Leves and Exploration. Exploration takes way more time, and when we do it, we always have a really good time!
Honestly, SPs is not our main concern. We just want to have fun doing quests, leves and explore, but when we want SPs we just do some leves and kill some monsters.
Can't wait to get them to 25-30 so we can do that awesome dungeon!
how is that fun for you without xp chains? It's mindless and repetitive. I've done grind parties a lot and my body physically starts to ache and pain because of the mind numbing, brutally tedious taxation of it all.
XP chains would help spice things up, but for now ppl saying "dude easy mode is off gotta xp grind like a true pro!" is such a mindless folly to sound like people just don't know how to play the game.
*edit
by the way I'm not assuming you enjoy sp grinding on mobs, I know you just said it's more efficient but I'd like to know if you truly think it's a tolerable, fun way to mainly level up at the moment.
Sarcasm is a natural reaction to something that seem extremely dumb, and a lot of people complaining here give out exactly that expression.
You don't really need exp chains to have basically the same minigame. Give yourself a time limit, ans see how many monsters you can kill between that limit, or how much sp you can gain. Pretty much the same speed game.
Mind you, if they'll implement it, great, but mostly because it encourages grouping and fast efficent killing than because it adds any real fun.
You know the l2p saying well l2mf (learn to make friends) I have three LS and they are all above 15 active members regularly (no IRL friends in either LS). Occasionally there wont be a well spring of members on at one time, but that's when i knock out the leves, side quests, story quests, behest, assaults, explore, level low jobs, craft, need i go on....
There is a decent amount of content people are just so close minded these days; remember more content is on the way.
Edit: I believe the game supports up to 8 LS's so use that.
I mostly soloed and didn't use any of the exploits like failing leves... I guess that makes me bad at it.
I soloed/duoed to 70 in XI and then polished off my levels in exp alliances. They have since added even better methods of gaining exp, which would have saw me get to 90 in two months instead of 4. (Only for the first job with level breaks and other things to do which slow a person down)
You must find complicated tasks like breathing hard to manage as well if you took 6 months to reach rank 33. I'm rolling around with a rank 43 botanist and 38 marauder and I hardly touched a party let alone ever had enough people to mass lev-link fail.
Unless you know, you hardly play at all. Hell I was rank 38 marauder in about 2 months when the game launched and that was being amazingly casual about my playtime.
yeah, except I got to level 70 outside abyssea, so I don't see what your point is. And from 50-70 is pretty much the same amount of time as 1-50.
And only people who think exp is the whole game think abyssea is easy mode. Anyway, I was responding to someone who claimed ranking up in XIV is faster than in XI, which is clearly not the case, whether you think abyssea is easy mode or not.
I know it is crazy to think a person might like having fun versus mindlessly grinding mobs for no apparent purpose, but whatever.
As for the personal insults, I won't be responding to any more of them individually, but I have to say they don't make you look cool or intelligent, or prove anything but the fact that you have nothing worthwhile to say.
i'm having a blast in a XP party right now grinding it out.. I actually enjoy it. WAY better than solo grinding.. have gotten close to 70K SP.. @ 330-410 SP a kill.. =/ bunch of whiners...
Today I have done Behest, Leve's, SP Grinding in a group, City Main Quest, City Side Quests and gone from 15-20 no problem.. sounds like you guys want everything handed to you.
The only downside is that everything isn't peaches and rainbow in the higher levels 1-30 is a cakewalk litteraly and then things start to seriously ramp up in terms of time invested to SP returned.
But people saying that it's flat out impossible to level need a reality check.
Sorry, I don't really find mindlessly killing 200 mobs a blast anymore. Good for you though! I guarantee you that the majority of players they are hoping to target with the re-launch won't be wanting to spend hours looking for group and mindlessly grinding mobs. That was popular in 1999.
It needs to change.
Can you please link a post where I ever swore, let alone called the game #$@%? I try to be respectful on the forums, unlike some folks.
I am cool if you disagree with me, but I would appreciate it if you treated my posts with the same courtesy I treat yours.
As for going "back" I am still paying and playing for XI, and I do log into XIV to check it out once in awhile, play around, make a new char. I don't hate the game, I just think it needs a lot of improvement. Honestly the game needs less blind cheerleading and a lot more honest criticism. I don't understand why you take my criticisms so personally. They are not directed at you, they are directed at the game (not you).
So please, discontinue the rude attitude. It is not constructive.
I leveled with a friend which came back to the game today... got pretty good sp for the leves (mob-kill sp) did some grinding also... no clue maybe people are upset not getting 1000 sp per killshot but hey... it isn't bad you can do whatever you did before with your friends.
Leveling shouldn't be 90 per cent of what you do in an MMO. And in an MMO like XIV where most of what there is to do is level, they ought to try to dress it up a bit, instead of nerfing the content that tried to dress it up, and implementing a "kill 500 puks to level" system.
Part of the reason why people take your post so hostile is because you are judging the game blindly... like you said you log in once and while. Riddle me this, if you logged into FFXI once and while would you find it fun? and this question is even more relevant back in the day, before Hello Kitty Island Adventure mode that abysea made the game.
"Honestly the game needs less blind cheerleading" is what you said, how do you think you have the right to call people blind cheerleading when your blind criticizing.
what does year have to do with it? It's an MMO... I'd hope they would try to target those of us that have been paying them for the past 10 years in their other MMO.. those are the fans i'd be trying to target.. not the here today gone tomorrow GIVE IT TO ME NOW! kids.
Why even bring up the teabag thing? Grow up.
Depends what kind of grind. Mindlessy killing the same mobs over, and over, and over, and over, and over again. Fun? Not a chance. Good luck trying to sell that game to the audience that SE NEEDS in order for this game not to get shut down.
There are a quite a few very popular MMOs that have a rewarding, lore-filled, exciting, content-rich leveling process.
