As there is now a standard price for a repair material for tiers of items, what do people feel is a fair repair price?
For R5 materials I think 5.5k-7k is fair. A 1k-2.5k tip is fair though I'm curious to see what other people feel is fair.

Iv been meaning to ask this and i apologies if this is off topic and should be posted else ware. Where is the NPC located that sells dark mater? and what are the price stratification for the different grades?
I'm at work, and the little bit of time i get to play during my work week i have been doing quests and leveling ><
Edit: and another question, do you need to be certain crafting job still to repair certain items now with dark matter? and do you need to have that class to a certain rank?
I will always only pay 1K for any repairs. Idc, I'm extremely "tight" with my gil, so much in fact, that it squeaks when I walk.
Never been concerned with fair, as gil was/is so easy to get it really didn't matter. It all came down to how quickly I wanted something repaired. So what I'd do it offer 5-8k gil for something I wanted repaired right away, but only 1-2k gil for something that could wait.
For instance if I was playing my MRD and my Axe broke, but I still wanted to continue playing MRD and not another class, I'd go stand by the repair NPC in Ul'dah with a 7k offer and it'd get fixed within 3-10min every time, but the lesser not so important items for 1-2k would take a few hours.
you have to be 10 levels apart, not 5.
Personally, I would rather people just put up the required grade of Dark Matter as a reward. But then, I'm not one to go around repairing items for profit.
ppl that does give 1k+ is overrated, i mean come on how can you do that :| atleast 5k for a Grade 5 Dark Matter would be able to cover up, but i understand that you couldn't get money as good as any one then i think is ok but nevertheless netting 100k is pretty SUPER EASY. just kill, loot, sell. you'll bound to be able to get 100k very fast. i did that most of the time aside from selling stuff in the MW and i get my self rich for this past few months. is super easy ~_~ 1 month worth of 10-20mil achievable.
I started this kind of topic few days ago. Here http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...ce-for-players
My recommendation
As I saw many people looking for fix these day, they usually put 5000 for grade 5.Quote:
DM Grade 1 = 100 gil / Repair service = 200-500 gil
DM Grade 2 = 600 gil / Repair service = 1000-2000 gil
DM Grade 3 = 1500 gil / repair service = 2000-3000 gil
DM Grade 4 = 2800 gil / repair service = 3500-4000 gil
DM Grade 5 = 4500 gil / repair service = 6000-10000 gil
But it still ok because we still got some sp as a reward for fix ( also, we don't lose anything to get that sp lol )
But some people still cheap out by putting 1000 for grade 5, and I saw them standing there without their equipment fixed lol.
there is something called Equivalent Exchange with a proper kindness (tips). Like in the real world, you bought an item, let say $5, from there the cost of it is maybe $3 or $4. so the tips you handed out is for the service you give.
If you do not want to pay, then give the same material as payment. zzz
I dont know what a fair price is but certianly more than the cost of the grade of dark matter. Pay the crafter for her time she spent lvling the craft.
Just leave those 1k-for-grade5-please-fix-me-gear standing there. Don't try to help them or they will set 1k price again.
This is MADNESS!
When I see people offering dark matter for repair or lower gil of the dark matter I just ignore. No profit no repair.
I just dont repair anyones gear anymore. I let them go buy some new gear instead lol
Im stingy when it comes to repairs
I want twice the cost of the dark matter or I probly wont touch it, its just not worth my time at this point.
of course i make plenty of exceptions to that to people i actualy know :)
That sounds pretty fair. ^^
To be honest, the closer the offer is to the upper end of that scale the more I'd be more willing to stop what I'm doing, change my class to whatever is necessary, and perform the repair (of course if it's a friend that needs repairs, I'd do it for free any day and any time).
Doing the work for a higher reward is not about being greedy or wanting gil.
It's about showing respect and appreciation for other players' time and energy.
If the repair offer is really low, I just figure the offer is for their LS members, and I move on.
Pre 1.18 I typically payed 100gil per rank
12 = 1200
50 = 5000
I think you get the point.
For my jade hora that required an HQ mat, I normally payed 10-15k a repair.
Now the repair mats can't be crafted and doesn't seem to be in mass supply from gathering just yet.
So, we are kinda at the mercy of those that can repair.
4500 for 1 grade 5 is pretty pricey considering most will want to make some profit for their time.
I'm going to venture out and say grade cost + 33-50% should be fair.
And if you want it done snappy + 75-100% or 2 of the dark matter grade.
I offered 6-10k per repair before the patch (dependant on item rank and urgency of repair), and I still offer 6-10k per repair now (dependent purely on what kind of mood I'm in).
There's still some items that can be bought for cheaper than the repair material, for example the other day in the wards there was 8 R45 belts for sale for just 3k when it would cost 4.5k to repair them. So I bought them all and will just discard when they're damaged since it's cheaper. I know I was paying double that to get my belt repaired before that.
Another thing I've been doing recently is offering 2 dark matter as reward for the repair.
The repair system is a massive gil sink and will likely send the ingame economy into a depression. The gil gain with the reduced gil rewards is less than the gil loss from spending on repairs. I expect people will soon start budgeting their gil reserves and the rewards for repairs will become much less. We'll see how this plays out after they've made the other changes.
I agree that there should be gil sinks in the game, as before the patch there was not actually an awful lot that I personally would spend my money on.
However, I would possibly like to see the price of the Grade 4 and Grade 5 Dark Matter reduced slightly. For example over the last two days doing the rank 45+ dungeon I have used up 20+ Grade 5 Dark Matter in repairing my own, other LS members and some random players' gear. Due to the "return damage" and having a few bad runs in the dungeon, gear can degrade pretty quickly as you all know.
As I don't charge LS members for repairs (never have done as in the past I had a ton of the repair materials stocked up on my retainers anyway- that I could gather quickly and for free), that's about 100K in just one type of repair material that I have lost out on.
I can't really bring myself to say to people I know "pay me the amount for the Dark Matter or give the Dark Matter in return", but if this carries on and I don't find chance to do some crafting and gil making exercises soon I could lose about 350K in a week and therefore 1.4million in a month! I'm hoping the dungeon running craze dies down a little lol.
But in all seriousness I think the higher grades could be reduced a little bit, and I'd really like to see an increase in the amount that you can gather. Having gained about 5+ levels on my FSH recently I only gathered 3-4 Dark Matter :(
Increasing the yield rates for DoLs would diminish the dark matter's value as a gil sink. I have to disagree, though, that they are overprized. I also watched my cash during the last few days, and even though dying quite a couple of times (soloing NMs has become WAAAAAAAAY more difficult), it always hovered around the same amount.
Of course, if you go to an dungeon, that cash can take a hit.
But then again: A dungeon is a dangerous place. Even for a wallet.
In my opinion, the repair price that petdo post is fair price.
I think the reason people cheap out is because they using wrong gear for their rank.
I think if they can manage to rank 40+ they will have lot of money from shard/crystal or leve reward.
So they can't say they don't have money. But yeah, we must leave their gear unfix without mercy.
