SE: Any plans on introducing Reraise?

Not sure if this has been posted before but one spell that White Mages enjoyed in FFXI was Reraise. It gave you the ability to auto-revive mid combat without having to return to the starting point of the zone. You were still weakened, subsequent levels of Reraise reduced the weakness from memory, but it gave the player the ability to salvage a potential wipe.

I don't propose the ability is usable by everyone, maybe limit it to healer archetypes as a cross class ability but I feel it's a tool the healer role is currently sadly lacking.

Higher levels didn't lower weakness they reduced the XP loss just like higher levels of raise did in that game.

I'd love to have this ability (or more classes that can cast raise) since as it stands now in a 4 man dungeon if the healer dies there is no one to raise them and in 8 man if the healer dies normally the second healer is too busy to cast raise.

One day level caps will raise and so we will acquire new abilities, doubt they tell us until this happens.

Yes it was already asked in the forums, as long the AoE stoneskin debate.

But subjects are buried so deep that a new thread doesn't hurt :)

About that, not always the case. If there is a ACN/SMN lvl 22+ they can raise in battle.

For the busy part, that is one of the reasons SWIFTCAST from THM is so important for healers and SMN.

Bingo. When I asked another WHM if it was really worth the work put in to level a THM to 26 just for Swiftcast, he told me outright that I would be doing my whole team a disservice if I did not - and just for the reason that you mention. I have a macro that does Swiftcast and Raise so that it's an instant, one-button action for me on PS4. The upside was that since I already had a BRD and I had to get the THM to 26, I went ahead and levels her to 30+ to have a BLM.

Yes I have that as does the SCH in my static and the SMN still doesn't change the fact that there are times when you don't have time to cast raise even with swiftcast. That and there is also the MP issue.

lol, the best time to Raise with Swiftcast is when you're running out of an AoE. As was said before, if macroed, it's only one button press and can be done on the run. And that's the first time I've heard the excuse "ACN/SMN/SCH has MP issues". XD

Or don't die in the first place. Stop trying to nerf content that is already easy.

Yup, I agree with him. Yoshida himself said this on the interview that, one day, they will raise the level cap, add new spells and rebalance spells/skills/jobs.

If you're typically in a situation where the healer dies in a 4-man group, odds are good that the rest of the party is going down, and your weakened self with low mp will soon follow right after.

In 8-man, that's what the other healer, and potential SMN are for. Reraise is useless in this MMO. It made sense in FFXI when your options were either to have another raiser in the group, or you were boned since most relevant events were instanced (or ten miles away from any town), and home pointing from death removes you from the instance entirely.

I dont think we will see Reraise for awhile, or at all with the way content is at the moment.

We already kind of have it with swiftcast + raise.

If you die, you can't cast on yourself. So no, we don't kind of have it, we don't have it at all.

Scenario: have the ability to cast Re-Raise on both healers just in case both or one dies during an instance. Thus if one healer dies, they can hit re-raise and the other healer can carry on with healing/supporting the party without wasting MP.

Please stop posting common sense - you'll break the game.

Seems completely overpowered to me and should probably be left out.

There are many MMOs that have a "reraise" ability. I don't see what the problem would be with FFXIV having one.

The ones I've seen with a self raise like this, had limitations where not all healers and some dps could raise in combat. Since every WHM, SUM, SCH can raise in combat, reraise would be OP.

I just want Pheonix Down works in PvE.

How exactly would it be overpowered as only one other person in the party would be capable of Raise and they'd be tasked with healing the other 6 people by themselves including the two tanks?

I imagine they'd only introduce this once they raise the level cap, having reraise at the current levels would make things a bit to easy. if it was a higher level spell say 55 - 60 then you wouldn't be able to use it in any of the current dungeons/primals etc as they will be capped at 50 once the level cap increase is implimented. Reraise (if introduced) would only be usable to new content and anything outside instances.

My reasonining on this is that they designed the current content with the only spells/abilities currently available in mind so to throw new spells/abilities into the mix now would leave it open to exploits etc.

Sounds like a terrible idea, and a waste of an ability slot. Not only should YOU be not dying, but your co-healer (and raisers) should be prepared to raise when necessary. Reraise would take too much penalty away from death and teamwork.

If you believe reraise would be vital to your success in instances: Maybe you and your team should play better?

in XI, there are still alot of mobs in outworld that could rape solo players real quick, combined with the aggro mechanic there which easily links nearby mobs too. That's where reraise really useful, especially when players lucky enough to obtain Twilight Helm+Mail which grants auto reraise.

I did took the liberty capping job that can equip those armor, and it made my life way easier. :D

Unfortunately, in XIV-ARR, I don't see any mob (save for dungeons/instances) that would easily own players, unlike the old 1.0 yore where a level 99 treant will 1 hit kill you with just a touch. lol

Thus, the use of reraise would be too much. Even for dungeons, once party passed certain check points, there would be aetherial transporter that would bring downed players easily reaching their previous demise location.

Reraise is completly bull****.
Looking at WoW, more classes have a battle-rezz due to the fact they changed a lot of old skills. Warlocks had a soulstone and put it on a target to let them reraise - placed on the wrong target equals fail. So it was reworked to a battle-rezz.
Deathknight had a skill to raise a target as an undead with different skills - was to "complicated" and thus reworked into a simple battle-rezz. So, that means two non-healer classes have now a battle-rezz.
Lokking at RIFT every healing specc has a normal raise and a battle-rezz which is totally fine. Only healers can rezz.
FF14:ARR does go the same way - we have a rezz and a "battle-rezz" via swiftcast which is totally fine. SMN also can rezz/battle-rezz due to the same base class as SCH. Up to 3 popl being able to rezz should be enough. Or SE has to come up with mechanics like landslide from Titan, where u just CANT get rezzed in any way, but that would be ...*roll eyes*

Hey....reraize always works on the caster only.. ^^;

So the healer cast reraise will gain a reraize buff, like the pro, lasting for 30min.
When you die, the screen will popup rasied msg as usual, and you still need to accept it in time to get up,
then you will be weaken as usual.

You cannot cast reraise on other players.

That would be more bull**** if that would be possible.
Still - healers should focus on staying alive and healing, dodgeing AoEs, etc. - a simple reraise is... it would just complicate everything. What if a boss should be beatable without any reraise-possibility LIKE Titan Hm where a landslide kicks you out of the fight? In any case a reraise would be kinda a lazy-buff "Oh i can die at least one time, well... let's read the news!". Also - where do you actually need a reraise? Nowhere!
Imo reraise is a no go and should never be introduced into FF:ARR.
