Miqote in charge?

Something I noticed while talking to a friend, but every race is represented in one form or another with leadership positions except the Miqote. Are we just not trustworthy enough to be a leader of a guild/city-state? Or are we just way too aloof that when we get offered a leadership position we turn up our tails and walk away. I mean, there are plenty of Miqote who are involved in our class quests and such, but where are the Miqote leaders? I demand racial equality dammit!

The armourer's guildmaster is a miqo'te.

The Arcanist Guild leader is a male Miqo'te. The one we see in the actual guild is just the acting leader, since he's always off on field studies.

Yeah, I'd forgotten about her, but still, that's one Miqote out of what, like 16 guilds? Off the top of my head:

Conjurer: Padjal I think?

We are cat people, we don't like to ba caged in one place. Look at the ARC leader he is never on the guild.

They figured 1 miqo'te leader was enough since 80% of players are miqo'te. Too many cats as it is.

See the pattern?

From a Lore perspective, Miqote don't really make sense when it comes to being guild masters and such. They are not domesticated, and for the most part don't seem to care for such things.

The real question is how Hyurs got their grubby fingers into everything.

What can I say? We get around. Plus, it helps when we're generally better educated than the other races. :p

And with all the silly customs about alpha males gathering every available female they can get their pervy claws onto, or just the relative lack of males relative to females, someone's got to step up and keep them them lonely miqo'te company. ;)

Was gonna say, how has that not come up yet? It's more a matter of lore that miqo'te tend to gather in the smaller tribal groups such as the U in Forgotten Springs. Those that do leave the tribes for the city probably are not terribly leadership minded, though there are the noted exceptions above in the guilds, and to add another R'ashaht Rhiki has a decent post as Storm Commander (not at the very top of the Maelstrom, but not bad either).

G'raha Tia (if I remember his name correctly) is leading the expedition into the Crystal Tower.

Miqo'te are probably the least integrated race as a whole. All three city states seem to have been founded by another race and Hyur.

Gridania: Elezen/Hyur The ultimate leaders of Gridania are always going to be Padjal as well. The elementals also seem to be not so keen on outsiders. The only leader at all who isn't Midlander or Wildwood is the Lalafell master of the Botanists guild. Basically, Gridania is racist.
Ul'dah: Lalafell/Hyur Most of Ul'dah's money seems to be held by Lalafell, which makes sense given their prominence in trade, and money is power in Ul'dah. It's nominal leadership will always be Lala because it's hereditary. The other route to prominence seems to be through the Coliseum, and that seems dominated by Hyur.
Limsa Lominsa: Roegadyn/Hyur Probably the city least bound up by it's racial heritage and also the one with two Miqo'te in leadership positions.

So Miqo'te:
-are originally nomadic and didn't help found any of the city states.
-fewer in number than the other races
-solitary in nature
-half of the race is nocturnal, and it's probably not a great idea to have your leader asleep while the rest of the guild is awake.

I'm pretty sure that Keepers of the Moon and Duskwight Elezen are the two clans without any represantation among Eorzea's leaders.

Has anyone noticed how the majority of servers and waiters in Eorzea seem to be Miqo'te? Seriously, go look at the Drowning Wench, the Bismarck, Wineport, or the Carline Canopy. I know for a fact there's only one hyur between the four of them and the rest are all Miqo'te. Heck, even F'lhaminn is the one manning the bar in the Rising Stones. But maybe I'm just seeing things. XD

I had previously mentioned a similar point in another thread: The relative "lack" of NPC miqo'te in prominent leadership positions in any of the three city-states is more than overshadowed by the sheer abundance of miqo'te adventurers (that is, player-characters).

The way I rationalise it is, as Trashy suggested, to remember that the catfolk are not typically the type of people who would settle down in any one area for long, much less pick up a sedentary trade that they would eventually master. By tradition and temperament, the miqo'te have been nomadic hunters who go wherever their prey go. And this makes the miqo'te generally more inclined towards an adventuring life. Even those few who do settle down have a tendency not to stay still for long, as the Arcanist Guild's absent master amply demonstrates.

Was a lot worse in 1.0. The miners guild was basically a sunseeker brothel.

But if he had to fight too, we would had 23 people + 1 noob npc on random alliance. lol
