is this confirmation on more than one new class?
New classes..... ok. That got my attention.
This is confirmation that FFXIV:ARR has new Classes, Dungeons, and areas to explore than FFXIV !
In all seriousness though, Scout and Musketeer confirmed!
Oh, I'm guessing we'll see Coerthas Central Lowlands in 2.3 or some time soon. "New areas to explore", plus that door in Revenant's Toll that got added in 2.28... Could also be all the Beastmen zones too, since they are meant to get their own full zone and that path to the Amaljaas tower has been there since beta, and those are the logical places to put Wandering Primals for FC summoning, which is also meant to be soon.
I am willing to bet nothing that Musketeer will get Orator, which is effectively Beastmaster. They said they were working on a Taming ability around the same time as Summoning, and Orator mainly used firearms. It would be unexpected since it's a Tactics Job (something they've mentioned wanting to implement) rather than a FFIII Job.
I'm more interested in the new jobs that will progress from the new classes, scout obviously will be Thief or Ninja, Musketeer........I would love to say Corsair as another support dps but I doubt it
It was previously asked of him, can you tell us about the new classes, and he said I cannot because then I would have nothing for E3, which to me confirmed that the new classes will be discussed there, and he also said if you played the v2.2 scenario you will have an idea of what these classes are.
Translator's note: "now" means "in 6 months" in SE speak.
You guys are looking hard into nothing. Doesn't confirm anything.
The badge seems more like a "Look at what we've turn this game into since 1.0". Especially since it mentions the awards.
Whip class for dat @$$^^
"Winner of 30+ MMO and RPG awards " now with new classes and areas..
It implies that the game that received said awards now has new classes areas and dungeons, and i don't think 1.0 ever received any awards.
Then again, the sentence just being poorly worded wouldnt surprise me at all :p
SMN and SCH.
I wasn't talking about 1.0 receiving awards, I meant ARR.
Those are Jobs not Classes. At launch we received 1 class 2 jobs. When they release the new classes it'll be 2 Classes X jobs. If they were talking about ARR beforehand, they'd say Jobs or class (in non plural)
Then again why would they advertise the beginning of the game when that was months ago and we're coming close to the third major patch/expansion? We'll know for sure during E3
It says the winner of the awards, that is ARR, ARR received the awards, 1.0 didn't receive anything, so if it is the WINNER(ARR not 1.0, as they are classified as different games) of the awards that has new classes that would make it referring to new classes coming, also it's more than confirmed new classes are coming "soon" so there's no reason not to believe they are not referring to that.
Then again who knows, its pointless to discuss this we'll know what they mean soon enough.
I didn't say you were either, i'm just pointing out what the badge text implies.
I'm not sure why there are people desperately trying to claim this does not mean we're getting new classes when YoshiP himself explicitly confirmed their existence in the last live letter and said they would be announced at E3... Hell he even said we'd see them shortly after 2.3 which would indicate 2.4 at the latest.
I'm more interested in the mention of 'new areas'. We've speculated for a while that Shiva is going to need a new region added specifically for her since there's nothing in the game related to her yet (not even a tribe). That new gate in Rev Toll is a pretty big hint I think. :P
Lies. Photo-shopped. Have you no compassion?!?
My thought:
Musketeer > Chemist (healer) & Corsair (dps)
Thief > Ninja (dps) & Samurai (tank)
We don't know for sure if we're even getting new jobs at this time, we were only told about new classes so far. Even at launch we were only supposed to get Arcanist with SMN coming in 2.1. They apparently were ahead of schedule because not only did we get SMN at launch, but we got SCH too which came as a huge surprise (well... it was leaked info before that Yoshida himself said he was very disappointed with). What I'm getting at is that We have confirmed 2 new classes, HOWEVER based on how ahead/behind schedule SE is, we may get anywhere from 0 to 4 jobs, which is why I said "X jobs" in my post
Oh also, the classes don't have to have anything to do with Final Fantasy. As far as I know there's no Thaumaturge, Gladiator or Arcanist names in FF yet. It's the jobs that are made to be iconic.
I totally forgot about this, but to be fair he is an apprentice of the ALC guild so he'd know a thing or 2 about potions. Still not ruling out the possibilities of potion-like abilities to be used by a new class/job
Wouldn't make sense since SAM is an iconic Great Katana class (both in Final Fantasy and history itself) and Thief/Ninja as shown by Thancred and Yugiri are dual dagger wielding classes/jobs.
I would like them to add new servers that work first.
Yeah. For now I'm just gonna take it as relative to 1.0.
It would lead to Coerthas Central Lowlands, which is a zone missing since 2.0. Quite a few of the zone transitions in 2.0 are oddly long... Central Shroud to Northern Shroud, for example. In Central Shroud you're walking into a lush area with lots of plantlife, and the giant crystal structure is far north. In Northern Shroud, the area is completely barren and the giant crystal structure is far south. I find it likely that we'll be able to go there (which I believe is Western Shroud) through a tunnel that will eventually appear at the Spriggan Dig maybe. The zone between Coerthas Central Highlands and Mor Dhona is probably the same; we take a route off map that goes around Central Lowlands, and the gate in Mor Dhona now leads to Central Lowlands. Alternatively the gate could lead to a new city, seeing as Revenant's Toll is becoming so prosperous, though there is still the possibility that on the other side of the city is a gate which leads to Central Lowlands. I also guess, like so many gates in Eorzea, it could just be there for no real reason, and never lead anywhere.
It seems more like a death sentence than a promotion to advertise changes in a game that happened months ago at E3. E3 is about the future of gaming. Companies make announcements to get people excited not to tell them what they already know.
Releasing classes without jobs is like releasing CT after Coil. "Yay this is fun. Kinda pointless to get ilvl 80 gear whenever everyone is getting ilvl 90 gear though, isn't it?" They did it, sure... but the only reason they did is because there were last minute issues that prevented the release of CT and they had already announced a release date. Everyone would level up the new classes, get to end game with them and complain that they are useless. No AF, no relic, no job specific abilities, and no real role in parties.
Assuming this isn't Photoshop or something from last year it has to be taking about the hinted classes and other new announcements. You wouldn't word it like that talking about old content. It just doesn't make sense speaking proper English, the claims are all dated, and you wouldn't go to E3 to brag about a game you released last year unless you had big plans for big announcements during your conference
But its not a typical Final Fantasy job, namely one seen in the numbered series. The only two classes which have been a job in a numbered game are Conjurer in FFIII (which is debatable as it was officially translated as Evoker) and Archer in FFXII (again, debatable because it only exists in the International version of the game).
