So, one detail that I haven't seen yet is the amount of gear durability loss death and choosing to return to the crystal (as opposed to getting a raise / resurrect).
To my mind, it comes down to the following:
Given there are 9 to 14 item slots (depending on cowl, shield, and number of jewelry pieces), all of a player's gear breaking could potentially be somewhat expensive. However, with the addition of Dark Matter, repairing gear should become a lot more straightforward. So, I'm going to go with the "number of times dying during a single leve or raid", since taking time in between these isn't really a big deal.Quote:

So, I'm going to put out there that 4 to 5 death / returns in a single leve or raid (if returning is even an option in raids) is at the upper end of 'acceptable', and so my guess on the durability hit for dying / returning will be ...
20 to 25% durability loss for every piece of gear. {<~~~~ Just my guess}
We'll find out in a day, but I thought it might be entertaining to speculate ;)

Since we get raise at such a low level, everyone will soon have it. There will be no more need to blood port, since the cont of returning when alive shall be zero. Only the truly antisocial will have to return when dead.

They are never going to take out 1/5th of an item's total durability just for dying.
I could see it happening in a game like FFXI, but not in FFXIV. -
