Thumbs up for the Roegadyn Swimwear!
But I wonder why the poor guy is forced to carry a hammer around even on the beach.
Why can't we simply unequip our weapons/tools and just be "civilians" sometimes?

with the armory system is impossible. They should introduce the class "civilian" :|
I laughed so hard at the just go ahead and try to unsee that. Also i think this has to be history making in some way, an official letter from square enix that contained the phrase Derp
Playing around in a swimsuit WITH A BLOODTHIRSTY AXE ON MY BACK ever so calming
You never know when a big squid'll come and F***-you up son!
You never know that running around with a jug and a bag of pebbles, either, but that doesn't stop the Alchemist. Equipmentless, I might actually be able to get in a swift crotch-kick - and if it lands on the mob, maybe I could get like, a Flee buff to GTFO, or something.
Man, I'd be R50 Civilian in a week.
Well, I was actually serious. Whenever I log in, I am some sort of Job.
It would be sooo cool if I could don my swimwear, box my axe and simply
enjoy a cool cocktail at the beach once in a while.
Shouldn't be too hard to implement either!
Civilian class? What's wrong with a babe in a bathing suit swinging a Great Axe? I welcome our new amazon warrior gals!
Nielfresne can be seen tossing heals without a weapon of any kind equipped in the Ul'dah new character instance. Granted, he's an NPC, but the animations are all there, so it shouldn't be too much of a stretch for a "hide weapon" option. Without re-doing the entire armory system, toggling weapon visibility is about all they can do.
Until then, badass bikini babes brandishing bardiches, booyah!
Yes a /hide weapon option would be good, then if you go into Active or Synth or Gathering mode it turns the option off, and your weapon reappears and everything back to normal.
Am i the only one thinking these swimsuits suck? >.>
Yes because it's not like SE characters have ever worn swimsuits in the past.
It's summer, they wanted to add swimwear. Bikinis are fine and have nothing to do with Korean game development. As with any other piece of gear currently in the game, if you don't like it don't wear it. Sure you'll have to see it but if that kills the game that much for you then there are probably bigger issues.
SEGA gave people swimwear in PSU and people wore it where applicable. You could run missions in it with no consequence but people rarely did.
Maybe I didn't explain myself well, I didn't mean that bikinis are "immersion breaking" or that i'm disturbed by all that skin, I meant that they seem like what you can usually see in koreans mmo: stuffs added just for the sake of it without any design or connection to the game (plenty of exemples in Aion). The FFXI suit i posted (I guess it was for a summer event, but I can't remember, it's been ages) is still revealing, it still doesn't have any purpose except the attire, but you can see there's a design behind it and it's perfectly fitting the game, same for Rikku's outfit. There isn't anything like that in those bikinis, you can find something similar in any Victioria's Secret catalogue. I was just expecting more, but still the picture is small and they were just 2 swimsuits, i hope there are gonna be details i missed that are gonna change my mind.
i don't see the point in been r evealing or not. They're fuc**** bikinis, like you see in every corner of the world. Why here should be different, if not for the sake of whine ?
Or maybe you expect FANTASY bikinis ? <_<
Get over yourself... bikini's are common place, me and millions other wear em. There will always be the tard nerds, just cause we get skin in a BATHING SUIT outfit people cry ... omg korean korean... who cares?! ... Games can take a hint from some korean game outfits anyways, some really stylish stuff^^ Nothing wrong with fashion or skin! *facepalm*
I guess they are pretty tacky swimsuits. They don't seem very lore-compliant.
I didn't really want to get into this... really I just want to be excited about the patch. But I have to say... less material =/= pretty. It just = more naked. I would have liked a pretty bathing suit, not one whose obvious purpose is to make men think thoughts I've no reason to want them thinking about me.
Yes, I have seen these suits on TV, and I have thought the same thing. No, I don't intend to make a big deal about it, whatever. I just thought FF would have a little more class than that.
How are they not lore compliant? They appear to be made of cloth using means available in Eorzea. Is there some kind of lore I missed saying swimwear is forbidden in Eorzea?
It's Summer.
Our characters are enjoying the sun and beach.
They are donning bikini's and shorts to get the most of the sun.
After all, the seventh Umbral Age of never-ending rain is coming.
Make your own lore.
-_-; At the end of the day, it's a bikini and a pair of shorts.
What exactly is the issue?
I'm seriously amazed at how some people still find a way to complain about something so trivial as a swimsuit.
One person thinks they're offensive and doesn't want guys looking at her? Ok... I'm going to go ahead and assume you're one of those weird girls who go to the beach and swim wearing a t-shirt and shorts because literally EVERY girl out here in California wears bikinis (or one-pieces that might as well be bikinis), and I'm damn sure we're not too far off from the rest of the world in swimwear preference.
Even when I was young, I wanted guys to look at me with respect, not hormones. If they could only look at me for what I could offer, then they were not worth my attention or time.
But I am now happily married to the only man I have ever loved, recently celebrating our 11th aniversary. I'm not sure the rest of the world can offer me that.
They confirmed they are making Roegadyn Female right?????
I want to see Roegadyn Female with Bikini's !!! NOW
What has this got to do with anything. This is a game, not IRL. xD
But that's wonderful that you found your life partner, nothing to worry about then! Even if it is a game ;')
People need to stop getting offended over everything.
Otherwise we cant have s**t in this game.
Relaaaax people. Enjoy the game! <3
The right man is going to see you for who you are, and with respect no matter what you are wearing. Plus some men find one pieces sexier than bikinis. So no mater what you wear somebody will be looking at you as a sex object and hormones no matter what you are wearing. Yes some men and women look at women and assume what they are are wearing reflects who they are. These people are fools. Women should wear what ever makes them feel beautiful and confident and proud. For themselves not for anybody else. I apologize for even posting this reply it is off topic but somehow i felt it shoulod be said.
Final Fantasy 14 ESRB Rating: T for Teen
Alcohol Reference; Animated Blood; Language; Suggestive Themes; Violence
They are completely within the confines of the rating system applied to the game, I understand that everyone is different and that this may offend some people, and I'm not knocking you for being human. However, the game rating is clearly stamped on the box and because of this you really have no solid ground for complaining about the content.
It's a little off topic, but it does have to do with it. I am aware that men will have some feelings regardless, and I don't hold them for it, as long as they treat me with respect and show some restraint. But saying it doesn't matter what you wear... that is simply not true. If you wear something that says "I'm here to be your sex object", that's what they will think. It's not just my word, it's the word of every honest, even respectful, man I have ever spoken the matter over with. And honestly, if you need to wear that to feel confident, I would think there might be some other issues at work.
All that being said, I'm not here to get in a fuss, as I said in my first post. Just don't poke fun at people who would like to have something a tad less revealing. I didn't say a word about one pieces btw. There are a number things in anime/games that I would let my characters wear that I wouldn't wear irl, but I do have a line, yes.
Tootles all. :)
"These bikinis suck." <---- ComplaintQuote:

"I don't care for these, I'd like to see something prettier and less revealing." <---- Feedback
That's a horribly relative argument cause more material can =/= pretty. And it's not like we're going into battle with these on? Well I'm sure some people will but that's their choice. They are just plain old bikini's, who cares? you're acting like it's the 50's and skin is taboo. Sure they have some sexual appeal but bikini's are common place, it's just plain... stupid ... to argue otherwise. Would only make sense if these were also suppose to be used in battles xD
Edit: All in all just remember this is a FANTASY GAME and as has been stated you can be respected with or without showing skin just as you can be a "magnet" regardless of what you wear xD There will always be dogs and disrespectful people, that's life. You should know how to deal with "looks and drools" by now ... just saying lol
people are complaining about this s**t??? Oh my god...
/facepalm
Look, I understand where you're coming from. But honestly, the less you worry about how others see you, the happier you'll be. Especially in a game. You don't see me running around complaining about guys wearing Speedos, even if wearing them is pretty much taboo in my part of the world while it's normal in other parts. They wear what they want, and I'll wear what I want.
