Vote kick abuse needs be cracked down upon

Just did a Brayflox HM through duty roulette and got a group that demanded that I speed run them and when I didn't want to because I didn't feel that the group composition was capable of doing it smoothly (DRG, SMN), they stopped healing and DPSing to let me die to the pull I had made. Then after I re-spawned they vote kicked me.

Why didn't you at least try? It would have been fair to everyone..

I like how you didn't even try. If they know how to play their class well they should be able to pump out quite a bit of AoE damage.

Anyone can speedrun Bray HM, I go on drg all the time and can sometimes do more dps than brd. Don't tell a pt you cant do something because of PT makeup, I would have kicked as well.

It almost happened to me before, was in Cutters for the 2nd time at all and 1st time on my healer (and informed the group before about it), had trouble with Chimera's mechanics and we wiped 2 times, then the SMN left. The tank then told me he had also started a vote to kick me but everyone else refused.

I got into a new party after that and had 0 problems (and 0 wipes) because that people took the time to explain properly what to do and where to be.



"refused to listen"? maybe you are just so pro that you cant explain it to "dump" players? Maybe your tank was a total moron but that is no reason to abuse-kick someone! You and everyone else who voted clearly did the abuse and IMHO needs to be punished!

there is a difference between explaining what you need to do and baring with it as new people join new dungeons all the time AND "you guys dont tell me what to do, 'im the tank with insta queues and youre just a expendable dps or noob ass healer!" and why should a party abort when it is just ONE PERSON refusing to listen to the party due to some form of inferiority/superiority complex and drags the party down with them? and also removing a person who is harassing the group by" not waiting for the healer mp to come back to 100% and pull a load of mob he cant handled and calling everyone noobs due to HIS MISTAKE is NOT abusing vote kick as "harassment" is a perfectly valid excuse to remove him.


edit. actually your story actually further illustrate my point how we have tanks that think that they can dictate how the party should because they "think" they are in charge and only their opinion matters.

yeah it could be be real as i just complementing several scenarios where my conclusions are wrong and it does somewhat prove the OP innocence , but there is something wrong with that screen shot though. maybe it is just the fact the OP tries to come off as an innocent in all of this?

Thing is when you join DF as tank, you don't know the abilities of the party. Someone can demand a speedrun. But until I know the ability of the party to dish out damage I'll always start out slow and then push. With Brayflox I 2 pack pull to start. 2 pack to the bridge, then lock out 2 before boss. Single pull the first pack after first boss, then double pack pull to the end. Unless the first pulls before the boss show they can, then I'll single pull to the 2nd boss.

What gear they have is not an indication of what they can do. DRGs in myth never using Full Thrust for example.

One thing I've found kinda funny is that the most impatient players i've met in DF all seem to play Lalafells. Not saying all Lalafells are impatient, Just that all the impatient players Ive met rolled Lalafell XD

Dont underestimate a summoner when speed running that is all.

If you want a speedrun, queue up in a full premade. If you use Duty Finder, don't expect everyone to be willing/capable of doing the things you want them to.

I think more people should follow the rule of D.B.A.D.

Well, ok, that on the other hand is a clear harassment. If I get called noob ass healer I will vote against him as well and if the party does not kick him it will die along with him.

Maybe that was unclear, the SMN started the vote and after nobody shared his opinion he just left, the tank just told me about the vote against me. Besides the SMN everyone else was kind and patient with me :)

If they told you they can do it and you can too, I see no reason not to try. If you still thought they couldn't have handled it, you could have left. It's three against one, you shouldn't force you opinion on others...

Fixed for you. As it is pretty shocking how many I've met that didn't even read the tooltip for their abilities (not just SMN). Had a SMN in lost city, insisted on only using Ifrit-Egi, spent most of the fights resummoning Ifrit after dieing from AE.

If they wanted a speedrun the should've used party finder. Can't force someone to speedrun if they don't want to. Dungeons aren't meant to speedrun and I personally find speedruns boring. Aren't we playing the game for the fun? Most ppl seem to be playing to get things done as fast as possible

Plenty of MMOs have a vote-kick function and they're doing perfectly well with it.

Yes it's going to be abused, but what ISN'T going to be abused in an MMO? Absolutely nothing, and attempting to stop any and all abuse is just going to make life way more difficult for regular players than it should be, and it will just cause irritation and resentment in the community towards the game and the devs.

I'd much rather have the ability to vote-kick problematic members of a party than be forced to sit there and endure them making a run a living hell and a waste of time for the rest of the group. Believe me there would be a LOT more irritation in the community if there was NO vote kick function. We gotta deal with the downsides of it while enjoying the upsides.

Another tank that knows best and didn't even give the party setup a chance. Shame on you.

This is true, if people insist on speed running after I've told them I won't, I simply leave - but don't blame the other players if you don't want to sr, just say so.

I did a Speed run the other day with My Dragoon and a Bard. It went just fine. I'm not sure why you weren't even willing to try.

Honestly, that's not really the issue here. It's not like the tank said "I'm not comfortable with a speed run due to my gear". That's a perfectly reasonably reason not to run one. All the OP did was insult the players and their job/ability and then refused to even try.

I mean, if there would have been a BLM in the group that refused to AOE when the OP pulled big, would that be ok? I mean, the BLM may not have wanted to speed run because he likes Warriors better than Pallies.

Well, it wouldn't have hurt to have tried. For most players a speedrun isn't actually a speedrun; just pick up a few packs at a time.

I haven't come across this yet. Normally I pull the 1st set of mobs get a since of skill and go from there.

But I think after reading this post. If people demanded a speed run. I would just pull all the way to the ramp. and be like I thought you could handle this it was a speed run? Do you want me to pull less next time?

What you got here is a "he said she said" all sorts of disagreement issue. No one can make you do stuff you don't feel comfortable doing. But having said that, if they want to wait for a different tank, that is also their choice, not sure they get one anytime soon or make their run go any faster, had they went along with your pace.

I suppose the only real issue is what kind of vote kick they tagged you for. Not sure harassment label is really fair in a dispute like this.

But to call this vote kick abuse is also not quite right either. Perhaps it would have been better if your group could have worked out in friendly manner for a way for you leave the dungeon without a penalty and they can wait for the tank they want.

Sigh.. you should have a least tried! I expect better from my kind(tanks), heh.

Why should I have tried when they decided to just let me die instead of continuing to clear? If anything, that was entirely counter-productive to wanting a speed run. Besides, the difference between the average speed run and a normal clear is not that much. They were only making it take longer than it would have if they had just let me clear normally.

because majority rules and you cant take that or dont like it , then dont queue up in duty finder. if 3/4 of the party want to something and you dont like it, well either : drop from the party or deal with it.

you didnt even give them a chance to see what up either and instead you went in and decide the run is gonna go as YOU WANTED. i assume you just pull one mob at a time and then you got kicked. by doing that, you already solidfy "my way or the highway" mentality that tank used. i guess they took the highways and kicked your butt out.

Duty roulette is not for speed runs. I got Animus so I've done my share of Brayflox HM speed runs. When I wanted a speed run I used party finder. I did not join through duty finder or duty roulette and try to tell other people to speed run. That would be wrong.
