I love theory crafting my favorite class as much as the next person, but this is unnecessary...
STOP MAKING THREADS ON THE SAME STUFF OVER AND OVER
Not gonna happen. Regularly used provoke mechanics are pretty strong when you get down to it (since it basically renders the need for most high enmity abilities redundant); making it an AoE that also deals damage is just nuts. If it were to get something like this, I would expect it to get a single target Provoke that has been weakened significantly compared to the tank one (6y ranged instead of 20y; 60 sec CD compared to 40 sec; potentially require it to make a check to hit rather than being auto-hit).
Also, simply adding extra attacks doesn't "fix the egis". You're just straight up buffing them when SMN (and by definition their egis) are already plenty strong. If you want to talk about "fixing" them, you need to realize that there will have to be trade offs, either by getting rid of something the SMN gets (and just SMN; you can't change the ACN without also changing SCH and SCH is incredibly well balanced) or something that the egi itself gets.
If you knew Akiza's posting history, do you think he or she would care about balance?
What if se takes away egis then improves the dps and puts 2 skills from the egis to smn then smn lb its a ex primal comming and doing the main attack and depends on the lb level ok ok i can dream dont i?

Giving Egis even remotely potent dots would bring us back up to the level of dps we had with thunder available. They took thunder away because we're already the strongest.
I vote Egi DPS increase. Then we'll see 3 SMN raid teams. Who wouldn't want to see infinite dots on the boss?
And you forget that they took bane away also, Its better SE made a new class of it rather take away spells and ability as of now they could have gave the DoT to any other class in the future and not take that away O.o
I still believe most of the damage should come from the EGI side. Kind of pointless having egi for few extra damage.
There aren't going to be any changes to the Egis until the level cap is raised so it won't destroy balance because other classes will get new abilities and buffs anyways adding one new ability to the Egis will only increase damage by 20% which would put the Summoner back to where it was when it had thunder.
They could make it a proper pet class by making all of the attacks come from the pet and have the Arcanist/Summoner provide pet buffs, command the pet to perform special attacks and provide support damage.
OBJECTION!
Actually, one of the first Summoners of the series, Rydia, had access to the bio and venom line of spells. DoTs if you will. In fact, it was often more efficiant to use her as a Black mage.
Now with Blm having the staples of attack magic what is left? I mean what would you rather have them be? Mediocre healers with more mp and flashy but ineffectual pets which drain mp?
Actually, the first summoner is from Final Fantasy 3, and they could only summon or swing their staff/rod (or use them in battle)
Rydia is the 2nd summoner, but she is more of a cross class summoner/blm.. and if you wonder why Palom was a true black mage, because if you do level him even in the original version he had access to every single black mage spell also, including Meteo, and all the remakes same.
And for the record, the only reason people keep bringing up, Summoners need to be fixed, is because everyone expected a Final Fantasy 11 summoner.. if you look you still see a "Where is my wyvern" threads keep popping up for dragoons too. There is nothing wrong with the class at all, could it be better, of course, but then again so could black mages and bards could be more support. Final Fantasy 11 was a different style mmo, a more multi-player needed style mmo, instead of the wow model which is more single player mmo which this follows. I would have loved if they brought back a Final Fantasy 11 part 2 and called it Final Fantasy 14, but it's just not the game design and style.
Apparently your reading comprehension needs work. "One of the the First Summoners..." . And If you want to be Pedantic she was the first Summoner "Character" instead of just a class a character could use.
But then again, every instance of a Summoner "Character" in FF has been cross class with something else. Usually White Mage.
And by what Akiza keeps driveling on about She doesn't want this:

But this:

p.s Just so you know, Rydia could learn all the black mage spells too.
Oh, goddammit. -_-
There are almost more Summoner threads (started by the same people) as Atma threads.
