All this talk about how everyone hates the quest/rng/grind for atma/animus, but after getting mine I just thought it was worth the time. Idk though, I'm easily distracted by shiny objects (and I have two shiny objects to be distracted by ;) ).

I would if I could do the grind faster
I'm gonna be starting my second book today, but I already love my to-be-animus~
And Relic Novus arrives soon as ilvl 115.
Yeah more boring Fateruns, more boring farming, more boring....
I highly doubt the Novis will be i115 because the High Allagan weapons should be the most powerful. At most I can see it become i110.
same, i was thinking the same thing. i believe it will always be 5ilvls below the newest allagan in every coil patch. the only exception may be the final forms? and even so that would be a long time down the road but i have a feeling they will just be the same ilvl. just differences in certain stats.
Coil won't always be the hardest content. If i remember the story right there will only be 3 or 4 coils total. Relic is supposed to go beyond that. Or at least that is how i read it.
Made it to my first book finally. The Atma book looks great though. Can't wait to get it upgraded.
true. but whatever the "new" raid (which will probably be 3.0 since i think coil story will end shortly before it), it will carry the new type of "allagan" weps which will always remain highest i believe. till the end when it finally evens out. but its just my feeling. i think thats how it will go.
I love mine. When I take my sphairai out the glow goes up my arms. And when I do the glow glitch my upper body is glowing. Feels like I just ascended ;)
No I don't think it's worth it, just to think about all those myths down the drain when I could of used those tomes to gear up my secondary chars. I would have been much happier and now I am trying to focus on getting myself back into farming myths again but just have no interest in it.
Haven't got mine yet but im 5 books in and cant wait. few people in my fc have them already and they are sick looking. hopeing i can buckle down this weekend and maybe finish it off. as far as the whining goes, i agree, welcome to MMO's, don't like grind and rng? i hear there are a lot of cute expansions for angry birds :D.
And insulting people is the way to go?
Eh, it's hard to feel proud of it when such a large part of it is just luck. I got my ATMA relic and I glamoured my Garuda weapon over it. I may feel differently when it's Animus, though.
I don't even want to know what this "animus relic" is just because the details surrounding its acquisition seem to hint towards discouragement rather than EXCITEMENT.
I enjoy my animus for one primary reason: it was a damage increase over what I had and would serve as a inbetween until I obtained something better. That was the drive to get it done, and until Novus comes along to show what else they plan to throw at us it will do. In some cases the Tidal weapons still win out at i100, and if you're in a group that progresses well enough for Second binding coil, then either will be soon replaced by unlocked weathered weapon or High allagan.
I can only hope that at some point they add progression that allows some personalization changes such as adding stats that otherwise aren't on them. Sadly most have a surprising lack of det/crit and instead give Skill speed where it isn't wanted or needed depending on job.
I will love it BECAUSE so few others have it right now.
Don't like Animus :( my sword and shield doesn't glow as cool as Stardust Rod Animus.
And I am not farming another 13500 mythology again unless they increase Mythology gain rate (which they said they may in 2.28 and again in 2.3).
Just got mine last night. Totally worth the effort.
The last online game I played was WKC2 whose very best weapons took approx 8 months to attain and fully upgrade with rng rewards from limited dailies. In comparison, this weapon was easy.
I really like it. It's nowhere near the best weapon in the game but a true trophy for those that are happy to grind. I really hope SE doesn't cave in to the overwhelming complaints.
If I had to chose one thing to change about the upgrading process it would probably be the tremendous myth requirement. Not because it's a lot, but because the impatience and negativity you get in the duty finder. The animus quest has brought the worst out of people while running brayflox hm and the main scenario roulettes since a majority of people seem to only be concerned with getting myth as fast as possible, failing to help anyone new or let them enjoy the cutscenes to the end of the game.
I got mine last weekend for my BLM and am just glad it is over, knowing I will never do it again unless SE changes the way to get it. So many things I did not like but kinda pushed myself through it without enjoying it:
- you receive the quest, do the first part and it just vanishes from your quest log. No track of your progress. Like it wouldn't be there although it occupies you a lot. I had my first Relict quest with me for many weeks and it always reminded me about the next step and where I stand, no matter how frustrating it was sometimes.
- having to use Zenith to get ATMAS, no chance to play with a FATE friendly char (BLM sucks on low level fates lol) or to level alts with it
- no reward for farming 12 ATMAS. Your weapon name changes, item Level changes but stats remain the same. Very odd feeling. Have I achieved something more than cosmetics? After drooling for three weeks in FATES I never really liked to play since the Game exists. Uuum Yes. At least I got the 1.000 FATEs achievement automatically this way lol.
- having to use ATMA weapon to do the books. Same problems as with getting ATMAS. No choice of character, have to do it with the character who has the weapon, can't level alts
- Doing low level dungeons for books was tedious and frustrating as hell as DPS. Players abandoning quicker than I can join, leaving players in almost each run, long waiting queues and a high chance that easy dungeons become a mindf***. It took me almost longer to get Aurum Vale done than to farm 1.500 myths for a book, ended up waiting for people on my FC to do it. Ridiculous. Not really SE's fault but they picked ALL the dungeons people have still problems with and prolly ever will. Cutters cry, Aurum Vale, Brayflox, Quarn, Pharos. Just to name the most prominent. Relying on tanks that stay in such dungeons instead of running as fast as they can is highly frustrating. That moment when a dungeon start and you just wait for the tank or healer to leave... hated it.
- Doing rare FATES and waiting for them was driving me nuts. Major reason I will NEVER do it again. Standing around is no approriate slowdown for progression, time sink, long term goal, whatever you like to call it. It ist just fgn boring.
- Last dissapointment was to receive the Animus itself. Nice CS but in the end, you receive a glow effect and that's it. No stat improvement, no item level change. Just a glow. Fantastic. Last step of such a quest should be a HUGE reward. Glow effect is not.
Are you serious? The weapon damage rating goes up to match an i100 weapon so your performance increases considerably.
^^ weapon damage changes when you get Animus? Didn't notice that. Will have to compare with a mate who hasn't upgraded his weapon yet. I only noticed the stat upgrades after finishing each of the nine books.
Sword is shiny white bright and 3 extra damage so cool!....Not. Moaned and complained about gazillion boring dumb fates for a week in which 2 days i did 4 fates and stopped cause couldn't do another dumb low end fate with 2 skill spam.
Next i farm myths in which there's is no real good way to farm beside stupid 2 boss brayflox so i end up just doing daily roulette and some ct's cause endlessly running same instance is aggravating and monotonous.
When i get the book then i have to do low level dungeons which i enjoy soooooo much and wait for fates that take 4-5 hours to spawn.
I've done extremely longer grinds that were more enjoyable then this crap.
^So much whine, not enough cheese...
Let's disassemble their post, shall we?
"Having to do content wherein all of my skills and progress is taken away from me and poses absolutely no challenge at all for progression sapped my desire to progress."
"Then I have to farm tokens, which are a slow crawl and means doing the same dungeon over and over."
"Then I buy the book and I have to do more things that I have already proven I am capable of doing, and am then forced to wait for certain events to occur that have a dismally low respawn, further wasting my time for no reason."
"I have done other grinds that took much longer than this but were still enjoyable, so don't tell me I'm just impatient."
This is all very reasonable and constructive criticism and is exactly what game designers look for, please stop whining about how some people have higher standards than you.
He meant going from Zenith to Atma, which doesn't effect the weapon's stats at all.
There is never enough cheese :(

To OP, yes and no?
The process of getting Animus wasn't super pleasant..... And I was happier without the glow. Or the axe fairy glitter. But aesthetics aside I'm pleased to have an i100 weapon at least. If only it was my naginata instead ;u;
After finally having the last atma drop at Western Thanalan, when the FATE "Taken" magically appeared (i really thought it does not exist) near Ala Mhigo and have the last chokehold on the ultimate FATE letdown "Four Winds" before getting my animus... I'm just relieved its over and in a way become attached to my Stardust now. Love it because it killed so many in my BLMs hands. Brayflox HM? finally taking a break from it..until i get an itch to upgrade my other job.
Whining is whining, you are passive-aggressively attacking people who hold a different opinion than you for no other reason than that they hold a different opinion than you. You may not realize it because you believe you're speaking from a righteous position, but essentially all you're doing is trying to shame them by belittling their complaints.
And thank you for proving my point for me.
I was so happy (and relieved!) when I got mine
But I definitely won't do for my other jobs... too painful
