Just wait a month, give or take (it's usually when it's close to release that we get some trailer or info about such).
Or, you could try asking around about the "Duty Commenced" event for some hints.
E3 is in early June. Most likely a ton of info will be released then I would think.
You can probably expect the following:
- Frontlines (PvP Battlegrounds)*
- Gold Saucer*
- Revamp of materia system*
- Ramuh + probably an extreme version
- More storyline (focused around Gridania this time)
- 2 new hard mode dungeons, 1 completely new dungeon
- New Crystal Tower (probably drops i100 gear)
- More Zodiac quests
- Other random stuff
* Were planned for 2.3 but not confirmed yet
It would be nice to go into 2.3 and have access to Ishgard. Break down the Gates of Judgement yes?
2.5 month is the timeframe for each new Major update assuming there are no issues to hold it back like what happened to 2.1
We will get 1st expansion within a timeframe of 2 years since 2.0 was released so around 2.4, 2.5 or 2.6 is when 1st expansion should begin appearing to be launched.
I was in the belief that Shiva and Ramuh were meant to be added in 2.3, with their respective hard/extreme versions. Coulda sworn they said that fairly early on... like in one of the live letter's for 2.1 i think. Would't be too far fetched though as:
2.1 - Ultima HM, Garuda EX, Titan EX, Ifrit EX, King Mog HM.
2.2 - King Mog EX, Leviathan HM, Leviathan EX
So 4 new primal fights would not be out of the question, especially on a CT patch. (although, to be fair CT was practically done before release, giving them more time to work on primals etc for 2.1)
Sadly I doubt that will happen because FF14 Storyline has set the Ascians as the Main Antagonists of the game manipulating the world from behind the scenes so they can bring back their god.
Heck even if Bahamut is resurrected (Which the Coil Storyline is building up to) and we defeat Bahamut (Most likely being a Main Scenario Boss Fight while HM and EX Mode are from Ballad Trials) most likely the Ascians already found the other Elder Primals and Primals located in the other Continents so they can use them to progress their plans.
Heck the Ascians may even be behind the entire part of Garlean Empire becoming the strongest City-states and their Global Conquests. Manipulating the Garlean Empire from behind the scenes the entire time.
Realistic but it will depened on how they want to handle 2.3 storyline.
2.2 story left a small hint into a future 2.X storyline being "Revolution" in Ul'dah but if you had Japanese audio on then the word "Revolution" is actually "War" in the JP dialogue version meaning that "War" is about to happen in Ul'dah.
As of now it seems 2.3 may focus on this "War" in Ul'dah which was bound to happen eventually anyways if you paid attention to all the lore and story happening around Ul'dah's condition in 2.X era.
in 2.1 we obtain Gridania's support to expand on Revenant Toll and in 2.2 we obtained Limsa Lominsa support to expand on Revenant Toll.
2.3 may involve use obtaining Ul'dah's support to expand Revenant Toll.
Ya it may be around 3.0 or the 2.X Major Update that will be the last 2.X update (being either 2.4, 2.5, or 2.6) since SE needs to have a VERY GOOD reason why the Pope of Ishgard and their Inquisition to break their Isolation Act to any outsides into Ishgard.
Currently the only logical reason would be the defeat of Shiva convincing them to allow Outsiders into Ishgard to meet this Hero or Heroine who defeated Shiva and saved Ishgard from a threat they never faced before.
Dragons becoming too powerful for Ishgard isn't something I see happening as a reason why Ishgard would open their gates to outsiders because they don't believe in outsider help with their War on Dragons due to their Religion
To put it in a lighter but funny way of describing Ishgard's Inquisition they're basically like this...
