Seriously. I havent been able to play with any reliability because I kept getting super slow black screen launcher since Monday and yesterday SE releases what they called a patch which broke damn near everything including their support platform. So instead of just a super slow launcher I and many many people are now completely locked out of the damn game for going on two days getting nowhere with the launcher, getting the -2146697205 error, and being unable to properly redownload or patch this game.
Normally in a situation like this where you broke everything including your support platform a company would send their agents to the forums in an attempt to help its players fix the mistakes they caused. Well not SE instead their solution is to open a phone bank with extremely limited hours and i can only assume next to no one answering the phone. So now those of us unable to play the game have to sit on our hands and hope SE can ever get their damn platform fixed so that we can actually get some support and try and get back into the game within the next 2 months, or try and find a time we have three hours to waste in the middle of the day and pray you can actually get through on the phone lines.
So yeah why aren't support agents on the forums at a time like this? SE broke everything including their support platform with this patch and the solution of wait for it to get fixed which could take weeks, or find three hours at work and hope your boss doesn't catch you while you sit on hold aren't acceptable. I really want to play this game and even gave it a second chance, but stuff like this is going to chase me away again. I pay a monthly sub and shouldn't have to wait god knows how long for online to get fixed or waste half of my day on the phone.

Instead of posting a question like this, go to the bug report forum and ask why it's not working. I played all night last night with many FC members. Didn't seem to have any problems there. Could be your download got corrupted during patch. Never looked, but does the patcher have a repair option? Other alternative might be needed to redownload all of FFXIV. If you do that, don't delete your old install, just move it to another location until you are sure that you need to download everything again.

I've also done everything humanly possible on my end to fix this including every suggestion made on the forums and redownloading the game from both the disk and online. The furthest I've gotten is about 30% on one of the first patches before it stops downloading. That's only if I actually get the chance to log in though. 11 times out of 10 I can't even try to log in because the launcher stays black screen until it gives me the -2146697205 error that no one besides SE understands or knows how to fix.Quote:

that error and many like those in the launcher aren't new. They relate to 2.2 that brought them back. I've been getting those issues before 2.25 and no one replied to it back then either.
Redownloading doesnt work, it never has with this issue as this issue is launcher related. In other words it at Square Enix's end of it all, not ours. The error is also heavily random. one day it happens, the next it doesnt. It is getting annoying. oh and they do have support forums, just there support people never talk there, there mods move everything to fixed or alternative support needed, without any solutions or whatever. There chat support is horrid and they suggest calling your ISP for every fricking issue. -

It's entirely possible the download/install was corrupt. Re-installing from scratch could fix this. This happens in MMOs sometimes.

Look, it's likely they already know about your problem and are working on it. Or they are dealing with alot of other problems and are dealing with them in a 'timely' manner. Remember that this is an international game and there's a bug report forum for each language, with it's own threads and it's own people reporting their own particular issues. Conversely there's only one dev team who have to filter through all those bug reports, see which ones are bugs and not just impatient people being impatient and see about replicating the bug to see what went wrong. It's a long, arduous process and impatient people being impatient doesn't help. If you're reinstalling just let it run it's course and find something to do in the meantime. Surely you've a backlog of games to play.

Instead all you've gotten is a msg that they broke their support tool and if you need help you better be prepared to wait another two or three weeks before you can get support online or you better have most of your day free to sit on hold. When you've experienced this you can tell me about patience, but until then I'll continue to be as impatient as I want while I stare at a black screen launcher, an unknown error code, and occasionally a failed patching process.Quote:

okay I think people need to remember... The Support Staff that posts on the forums...ARE NOT THE DEVS! and as such they only have what information the Devs have given them, if right now (which is probably the case) The devs are currently trying to compile and fix the bug, they probably haven't told the support staff anything that can be released yet.
Long story short...When they have information they have released it...when they don't it's radio silence. pestering them won't make non-existent information appear any faster.
