Golden saucer: fact or fabrication?

Ever since i started playing in sept ive heard rumours of ff7's amusement park coming to ff14. Ive always dismissed it as people lying to start rumours because the technology of eorzea doesnt seem to be advanced enough for arcade machines and rollercoasters i mean they dont even have standard definition tvs yet lol but a friend recently said it was in the making so i came here to ask: is it just bs or is eorzea getting the hookup?

Keep in mind Eorzea also has things like the Allagans and Garleans which are both even further technologically advanced than our real world.^^

Ever since Yoshida said FFXIV would be a fanservice game he has wanted a gold saucer type area, it's no rumour, it's happening.

They have holo projectors display etc etc

ive seen all the magiteck stuff and have a holo projector ceiling fan, i guess the lack of entertainment technology threw me off lol

It'll probably come with the first expansion I think. I can't imagine seeing this in a patch

I have a strong feeling the first implementation will heavily involve generic combat, rather than the variety of simple (and different) games we think of when it comes to the Gold Saucer. I want a rollercoaster-style mini game. :( Ooh and one that could be team oriented to get high scores that yield furniture or vanity goods...

You think that, with the empire at the door and primals rampaging on their lands, eorzean people would prioritize... anything over slot machines.

My money (and hope) is that they stick it in that massive chunk of desert south of Ul'dah/Southern Thanalan. There's a whole lot of empty sandy land out there.

You'd be surprised. It could be used as a distraction. Get peoples' minds off that kinda crap, at least for a little while. Remember what the WHOLE point of Blitzball was in X (no, not Wakka's celestrial weapon)?

I'm hoping it's in the Sagolii Desert. Those guys excavating in Byregot's Spire, I'd like to think that's a piece of the Gold Saucer =D.

The amusement park has been confirmed, at least to a casino level, and its entrance already exists (it's in Ul'dah, right next to the Pugilists' Guild entrance). There is also an NPC standing there, saying that currently they aren't accepting new memberships to the casino. Sooo yes, it will definitely be a thing.

The thing with that is, that's always been there - it's the Platinum Mirage, which has always been there even in 1.0 (in fact, the PGL Guild is directly connected to it - they're debt collectors who are usually employed as muscle to pressure payment of gambling debts).

The Gold Saucer however is something completely different - Yoshi has so far never called it anything other than 'Gold Saucer', and that it's location has yet to be determined, pretty conclusively stating that the Platinum Mirage is not the Gold Saucer. But I guess we'll find out.

Anything is possible in a Eorzea, hence it a "Fantasy" :P

I mean, what other purpose would there be for such a huge empty space? Especially as it's a desert.

If I remember correctly, although the Golden Saucer in FFVII was in the sky, the entrance to it was in a desert (the cable car). I guess that was a reference to Vegas being in the desert too.

Even in real life, only a portion of a nation deals with the war. The rest are business as usual and if you are in the entertainment business, then you would continue and possibly make more money to help people "forget" about the war.

I heard the slot machines will have RNG, which is obviously unacceptable.
