Think it means tier v materia but idk tbh
You will be able to put materia in end-game gear such as soldiery and stuff OR you can turn darklight gear which is spiritbond 100 to materia 5. Thats all i know from guessing because why does spiritbond go up but cant don't anything with it =_=
Well that would most welcomed if we could use it on endgame game I was expecting to never see that. Interesting
Hoping for more options for materia like cure potency +5% etc and crafters can open of materia slots for end game gear for hortizonal progression options but wishful thinking on my part :P
No information, already announced in previous live letter that materia system will be reviewed.
We can speculate as much as we want.
@Remus : maybe once your End game gear reaches 100% spiritbond you will have the option to attach a materia. then it resets and you have to spirit bond again to 100 % for another :)
One fun thing would be resistance materia allowed on Endgame gear. Prices would skyrocket :p
sys·tem
ˈsistəm/Submit
noun
1.
a set of connected things or parts forming a complex whole, in particular.
2.
a set of principles or procedures according to which something is done; an organized scheme or method.
One new tier of materia couldn't possible be considered a system.
If they are introducing a new materia system where melding doesn't cause you to lose materia then I want a refund on all the control +3 that I lost melding >_<
but seriously I'm hoping it would be more like FF7's system
Hope: More Materia on more items for more customization. Different stats like +Cure Potency, +HP, hell class/job specific materia to make certain moves better or something.
Expectation: Probably gonna make it like WoW's enchant system.
Lol, I in no way considering a single tier of materia to be a system. Completely wrong classification. Could there be a tier 5 added anyway? Sure. Consider that to be a new system? God no.
Fine, I look like a douche. Some people needed to be reminded what a system is, and for obvious reasons. It was clear that it was so quickly forgotten that one object doesn't define a system, and that injecting one object into an existing system does not qualify as a NEW system.
We can speculate all day, but can we do so within reason?
That would be great.
I'd love to make real custom gear with the stats I'd like to have.
Or if they increase the limit for main stats, but if you try and fail the 3% chance you lose everything.
Or maybe it's just a system to finally make elemental materia usefull...somehow.
If they make it possible to meld materia to dungeon gear...RIP crafting.
EDIT: I'd also like being able to create higehr tier materia by combining a number of lower tier materia.
that would be amazing *^*
i would really like to see that happen.
it really isn't.
materia already has a tier system (grade 1-4), adding another tier is just expanding on a preexisting system.
(also quoting a dictionary is a perfectly valid way of persuasion. it is called "argument by definition")
Weapons wise I could see them make specific materia for them as giving a ability for example <insert name of ability> gives a 10% chance to activate after casting Cure III gives the party or alliance a 10% increase rate of heal recieved and a 5% damage reduction from all sources for 8 seconds.
Edit: After thinking about it materia like these should be like a relic form a process you have to go threw to get them by melding but once recieve the relic status they cannot be destroyed or sellable imo :P
I agree with most of the ideas, would be nice if materia added things like cure potency, X damage added to fire spells, damage over time spells potency increase etc
And the idea of one it's bonded to 100% you can re do it! love that idea! makes materia a form of progression where it improves as your killing power does
Well I was thinking more in line to open slot for end game gear since SE don't want you to be able to craft end game gear give crafters the role to open the slot only and have to have maybe like rare items from some nm boss etc. I think this approach would open a market and demand also without giving craftable end game gear materia could be their source of income if implemented correctly of course lol.
What about materia merging? Like 5 lvl 3 materia to make a lvl 4 of the same kind and so on?
Arguing definition is just pointless in a thread that is all about speculation. You could add to the argument instead of trying to teach english on a message board.
Simply adding tier 5 materia isn't a system, but a slightly complex way to be able to add tier 5 can be.
If there is some kind of pre-requisite for creating a materia slot to higher level gear that makes it a system.
I knew there was a word for this! Thanks.
As for the other suggestions. I love the idea of new materia that adds different stats, but that still doesn't count as a new system. It's just more materia in an existing system. The idea of fully spirit bonded gear without slots suddenly gaining a slot of some sort might count. It's different enough they may call that a new system. It would finally give me a good reason to care about my dungeon gear getting spirit bond as well since we can't even convert that stuff. As of now that is indeed a useless stat on that gear.
I'm sorry but it was completely on point considering we are speculating about a new system. People were not actually speculating about a system at all, and the conversation was falling off point entirely and devolving into what kind of materia people would like to see. I wanted to see the conversation stay on point. It was not an english lesson at all. If anything it should be a reading comprehension lesson. -_-
I would venture to say that adding materia to endgame gear is not likely as this would cause balancing issues. More variety in stats would be nice, but not sure I would call that a new system, just more options in the existing one. For the sake of speculating, I am leaning towards a new way of obtaining materia.
Think merging be cool if also be one of many process to acheive a relic form of materia as well. also maybe maybe add small % to add additional effect on the merged materia to make it more marketable on the AH just saying :P
Example: Materia IV +5% to fire based attacks additonal effect add Burn debuff for 10 seconds.
I hope it increase the ilevel of overmelded crafted gear (and make the gear character bound once it get overmelded because of rmt)
New type of materia:
Raw _________ Materia I-V (Blank would be, say, Incantation, which would increase the power of your summoned companions by 3%, or Ireful, which would increase enmity generated by weaponskills by 7%) - obtained with a 2% chance from any FATE (level 1), can drop with a low percentage from any dungeon boss (sub 50 2% chance for a level 2, 50+ 2% chance for a level 3), can be converted from Darklight armor (levels 1-4, 35% lvl1, 35% lvl2, 15% lvl3, 15% lvl4), or can drop Coil T6-9 (lvl5, 5% drop rate)
Raw Materia is unequippable, it must be rounded or refined by Crafting classes 01-04 using a special material that is never consumed but always used to adjust the materia, and a high level gathering item or two, and then can be cut or shaped to fit an armor type (head, feet, body, finger, etc) by crafting classes 05-08, with the same special crafting requirements.
EVERY piece of armor in the game now has an additional slot for these materia that is only unlocked after it has been spirit-bound to 100%. To insert the materia, you need an item that is dropped in T3, all hard and extreme mode primals, and can be purchased with Mythology Tomes. This item can be traded and is consumed when used, maybe 2-3 at a time.
Crafters = happy
Raiders = happy
RMTs = not able to join in
WOULDN'T THAT BE FUN!?
Im honestly hoping for better chances to attach the materia. Getting to the final forbidden slot and having a 9% chance to attach materia and losing a 90k worth materia 20 times in a row is a heartbreaker. Im hoping they adjust it and make it to where you get a bonus to attaching materia based on how high your control is. Maybe say your control is over 375 it gives you a 25% bonus to all forbidden slots. Ive lost millions and millions in gil to this system, the cost of materia is too high for such I high rate of failure. And i know other have lost millions as well. Your stats in crafting should really have some kind of affect on attaching materia.
Materia fusion, yes please.
Tier 1 + Tier 1 = Tier 2 etc.
imagine the value T5 material would have....the sheer time to spiritbond the equip with requisite ilvl would be insane.
Can't really see us being able to put material in i100+ gear tbh, they are already strong enough for everything the game can throw at us, now imagine coil2 gears with material. Yeah, no.
I hope this involves combining materia for example, 5 tier one materia can be combined to make a tier two materia and so on. Which would give the lower tier materia some value.
Three concepts come to mind.
"Materia Polishing" the ability to upgrade lower tier materia into higher tier materia through some process so the aspect of obtaining a tier III when you wanted a tier IV is no longer as bad as it use to be since you can just go through another step to upgrade it
"Materia Catalyst" a new accesory slot that allows you to attune 3-5 materia through the purchase of a crafted item to add a bit more customization as well as allow the use of resistance materia to be more viable in dungeons and such
"Materia Overlay" Process of adding materia to unique/untradeable gear via the use of a specially crafted Crafter item which would allow you to add materia to gear which once had restrictions to said manner. However with this process each materia attempt would require said catalyst so the process of each meld would have 3 reuirements, the materia, the catalyst, and the specially crafted catlayst based on the repair class for piece of gear.
I like to see the Materia System become less obtuse and more transparent. You shouldn't have to leave the game and search for Stat Caps on Google to figure out which Materia you're basically forced to use. There's very little choice in the system. I'd also like to see more Secondary Stats like Cure Potency, Block % Up, etc.
I hope we can disassemble AF/raid gears into materia in the near future.
Seeing how this new system involving materia was in the same sentence as "additions and adjustments to the Wolves' Den", I think it's pretty likely they're only referring to PVP Materia.
My hopes:
1) Give players another (better) option for materia generation other than grinding while wearing crappy gear.
2) Change the overmeld process so it doesn't involve spamming meld on a particular piece of gear until it sticks (very tedious).
its the age of Glamour, so im thinking materia infused grills for da mouth. Time to drop the gilzz
