Atma Fate System Broken

Been in Outer La Noscea for 3 weeks now. Nothing.
I managed to get 4 stones over a week, for about 12 hours of fate grinding for those 4. Three weeks on now, nothing. Not a thing.
There are some people on my server running around with 3 Atma weapons unlocked.

This is not a fair, just, and imbalanced system that rewards perseverance. It is a mind numbing irritating stone wall of a middle-finger to the players caught on the wrong side of the RNG. To make matters worse, I was in a fate party there. For two of them, they got their stone, within 30 minutes of even being there.

Yeah, me, 3 weeks on, real hard to say "congrats". Real hard.

Needless to say, I give up, until something is changed. Y'all can shove your atma and your stupid system for unlocking them where the sun don't shine.

I'm almost on week 4 and 0/12 still. I feel your pain this system sucks.

If it wasn't FATEs it wouldn't be so bad :/

note to op are you doing all fates in that area it can take as much as five hours and make shur you have your zenith wep equiped and also you will get no atma if you have an atma wep the more you do at an gold rating the better the chances are and make shur you have inventory space or you wont get one

Atma of the RAM - Middle La Noscea - 6:00 (18.00)

Atma of the TWINS - Western Thanalan - 7:00 (19.00)

Atma of the FISH - Lower La Noscea - 9:00 (21.00)

Atma of the ARCHER - North Shroud - 10:00 (22.00)

Obviously its not guaranted drop, but i found it helps for my second atma weapon.

I'd estimate >20hrs in that one area now. I do all the fates I can find. ALL of them. Always gold success, of course. Of course I have my Zenith weapon equipped. I know how it works. I do have 4 stones already from other areas. I don't have an atma weapon equipped. How could I. I only have 4 stones. Is 50 free inventory slots enough? 'cos that's what I have.

kiraan, I've seen and tried that system before. It makes no difference. It's just superstition (IMO). TY for the post though.

If there was a trick to getting atma, Square would have given you some means of finding it out. Atma's are a 2% drop rate item. It's all up to the RNG. If you don't get one, that sucks but it's the way it works.

Honestly? I would be surprised if 2.25 doesn't do something to fix the drop rates.

Not that it bothers me any, personally, as I play a Warrior and none of the variants of Bravura have any Accuracy on them whatsoever, which therefore makes them completely and utterly worthless, but that is not to say I am without sympathy for people who have been grinding since day 1 of 2.2 to get their atmas and still don't have a complete set of crystals yet, because I do feel your pain. I eventually want to be able to complete the Zodiac weapon quest. Not for the weapon itself unless it allows me to put some accuracy on my Bravura, but moreso for the sake of completing the story of the Zodiac.

My fingers are crossed that something gets done!

While it's true the "JPN/Server Time" method is a case of people being tricked by confirmation bias, it does help "grinding fatigue" by making you change venue.

Well to be honest, no one should be out there all day grinding for them. Should be breaking up the grind with other activities regularly to give yourself a break from it. People could probably try to pass off doing a dungeon once an hour as a method for making atma grinding easier, and people would believe it lol.

Go back and look at everything. It's never obvious, but there is always something there to assist you in figuring things out. If it's not left totally to an RNG, then they will drop subtle hints at things.

Of course not, who would have a problem with running Brayflox multiple times for 3 weeks straight?

I mean there's always a looming question of how efficiently someone is doing their FATEs, how well they're estimated their time, and various other factors. Do they only do areas where they can FATE solo? Actually my older brother told me of a general rule they'd use on the EQ forums when someone complained about the grind. They'd always assume they got twice as many drops as they said they did and in half the time. I'm pretty sure I was in Upper La Noscea for two 8 hour bricks before I got my Atma drop later the last night, granted I guess you can just apply the previous paragraph to me as well.

Well all the announcement said was that there will be a patch. As far as I know, there has not been a published list of changes for 2.25 yet.

And why would you be so sure it doesnt work? We can't clearly prove it works but you can't prove it doesn't either.

RNG is still RNG , you can go up to 90% drop and never see a drop. And as people say, its a nice change of pace as to not getting stuck in the same place for 24hrs+ on the same atma.

I did 700+ fate for my first set of twelve, i'm on less than 80 and at 6 already. Even if you don't think it works, the game think it does :p

I'm on 20/24 atmas and here's what I've noticed and helped me.

The first 12 I just grinded and grinded. I got 1 on the first fate and others took atleast 1hr max 5hr per drop changing zones every so often. I did it over the course of a week never spending more then 2hrs/day/zone. At this time limit I would simply log off and/do other things. I did get them all.

2nd set which I'm working on now following that reddit theory post. Im at 8/12. It's just that, a theory. Yes, I have had several drop within 20m on the zone Window, however I have spent an equal/ greater amount of time with nothing using the same strat. I've sat in zones for the full hour over a few days span and nothing. Others drop with 5 fates.

RNG is what it is. I do hope they adjust the drop rate though as somebody with the 3000 fate achievement before the patch, this is a boring grind. :/

I didn't say that I did 20hrs straight. I said 20hrs over 3 weeks. I can't bear to spend more than 1hr at a time. As I said before, worked for me for my first 4 stones, been 3 weeks since, and nothing. It's a flat 2% chance to drop, you can get it on the first fate in a new area you go to, or you can NEVER get it. Right now, I'm 3 weeks into never....

It is funny how quickly people dismissed the system. Even if it doesn't work does it really waste your time? If nothing else having a lot of people in the area at the same time will speed up the completion of FATEs. You should buy a few of these candles too

If grinding bothers you so much don't do it. I'm sure they'll add the damn things to dungeons or something at some point.

I haven't actively farmed any atmas, and I currently 13/12 and still need 6 for my 1st.
5 I have 2 of 1 I have 3 of.
Stop forcing it and just let it happened. Think of it like this. A watched pot doesn't boil. Well it does but time seems to go buy slowly. Traveling threw area, Always as my 50's with zeith oo fate pop I should kill them 1-2 mins later 10 other people join fate over 2 mins later. hope on bird keep going to zone I was playing to go to, repeat.

People still have yet to realize that the atma/animus isn't the best weapon there is. I got my Artemis atma after about 25 hours total, and all it did for me was offer an item level increase. The atma isn't even the real issue, the books are a bigger problem then the atma farming is. you either drop the 1500 myth on a book, or you can gear up another class/zenith another relic.

You probably will be able to put accuracy on it once the stat customization comes out for the Zodiac questline.

As for the aforementioned list of times to get atma; does it work? Maybe. Does it lower your chances? Certainly not. There is definitely a possibility that the drop rate is increased during certain times and it isn't hurting anyone to have a placebo theory.

Yeah, at this point, I'm just gonna go with you being yet another troll, 'cos everyone who plays can pull 5+ uninterrupted hours in a row, and not that this makes any logical sense anyway, because it's not a time based thing, it's a random chance, period.

I'd be fine if it was like 50 fates per area, in order to get a stone. At least that way, the progression is knowable, and we can do it whenever, and it's equal for all. When it's just one mindless unrewarding unprogressive slog, that for the luck of the draw sees some people get 12 in 6 hours, and others still waiting 4 weeks/100 hours later (like some have reported), and this is for a SOLO weapon that we're not competing against anyone else for like with dungeon drops, then it makes just no sense, other than to be an artificial wall that blesses some, and punishes others.

2% drop rate? I would like to see your source on that bit of information. If anything.....I would say 0.5% to 1% chance to drop as I have gone as far as doing 150 FATE's in the same zone to get one to drop, but usually it hangs around the 95-110 mark. I don't care so much that they made them drop in FATE's, what annoys me is Lv Syncing.....I mean really, you come out of a Lv 5 Fate, you stub your toe and you are dead. But is it me, or does there seem to be less FATE's around? I think a better option at the very least would have made them high level zones that you can actually use your Lv 50 class.....but meh....for me I am done with trying to get atma weapons. I just don;t have the time to grind it out. All I ask is for a progress bar....perhaps a do 100 FATEs in each area and you get the drop. But heh....just my 2 cents.

It's fun how many posts there are complaining about atma. Every level 50 dungeon I do there's always at least one with the atma and today I saw someone with the animus. So I guess it's just you being unlucky. The system isn't broken since a alot of people have got their atma. Just cause you don't have it yet doesn't mean it's broken

Actually, it could lower your chances. If there is a similar pattern to Atma drop rates, but on a different rotation/schedule, this schedule could actually consistently keep you away from the 'correct' zone and lower your chances compared to just randomly zoning.

Personally, I think it's RNG. And yes, it sucks. But now I have my Atma weapon, I will fight to the death to keep the RNG low: If I had to suffer, everyone does.

i do have the atma and did spend more of 1 week of farm for get it...do it means the system is not broken? not really, seeing people have one atma means nothing... we are almost one month after the 2.2 release. if in this period of time no one will have get any atma (especially with people farming them like crazy) you can be sure it will have far more complain.

people saying, "if you don't like farm don't do it" or "you are unlucky then what stop to cry a river"... are simply troll, sorry but that what it's called. they have get them qui te fast or like the nobrain activity of farm low level FATE that are zerg by 20+ people, breaking the challenge of the FATE, anyway, if a system is unbalanced and boring.. people must point it and say it. Grind and Farm are the level 0 of the difficulty and fun in the mmorpg. don't tell me in 2014 they can't offer stuff more interesting to do.

ohh before someone come and say: "yeah but in older game we was doing this" in old time human was enslaving other, do we must return to that time too? what we was doing in older game was good because it was older game, now we can maybe evolve and stop to simply copy paste some older game?

That's precisely why it's broken. It's not an even/fair system. It's a system that blesses some, and shuns others, and for no other reason than "you're just unlucky". It's not even progression for all. It's just whether or not your were fortunate enough to get it, or you've gotten the raw end of the statistical deal.

Mind you, being a computer RNG, I just coded up a worst-losing-streak simulator on my Linux box, and simulated 1 billion fates

At a 2% drop rate (0.02) => 835 was the longest losing streak simulated by the Linux RNG
At a 1% drop rate (0.01) => 1701 was the longest losing (no drop) streak simulated

Even though statistically there's a chance you'll never ever get a single stone, the computer based RNG is basically suggesting that worst chance you can go for up to 17/drop_rate fates before getting a drop.

Question is, do YOU think it's fair that someone can be lumped with doing 1700 fates for a stone, while others are skipping along with having only done 20-50 fates before getting theirs? I guess that's a matter of perspective. If you were one of the latter lucky ones, of course you're going to say that there's nothing wrong with it. Try to imagine the person who's done 1700 fates for nought though...

If you can grind levels for DoL classes ( without leves ) from level 0-50 then imo you should be able to grind for your atmassss.
I myself might give it another go as i kinda want 1 but couldn't stand the grind hence why none of my DoL classes are above 15-20 lol......
But in the time i spent non atma hunting i accomplished a few things as making a lot of gil then spending it on vanity, furniture, gardening.
I also managed to finally down titan and catch up with the ex primals.
Within the first day - week or so i had most 2.2 vanity pieces
The only ones i'm literally missing and can't really obtain yet are the lighsteel / tafetta sets.
Other than that i managed to find myself a nice fc and ppl who are fun etc.
All of this happened cuz i chose not to waste my time with mind numbing atma grinding :p
Now that i have those accomplished maybe i'll tread the atma void and see if i can get 1 too!

All the people shunning the atma theory... Regardless if it is real or not, does it matter? Unless someone can say without a doubt that you must stay in one zone until you get one, I think it doesn't matter where you grind. It is all RNG anyway. If the theory is bogus, drop rate doesn't improve or degrade either way.

this slow way to get relic upgrade is by far easier than it was v1 and the rng sucked worst to get a chance to get one part one needed out of the whole pt and it was also based on how fast you completed the raid heck even dark light gear was a log difficult process to get yoshi had said that to obtain your relic so easily was a mistake so he then told the dev team to make a long process so not every one has one only the ones who worked hard to get it just like it was in v1 so to what op said yes it was ment to reward those who worked for it and to shun the ones who either did not work hard enough or the ones who rarely play not every one will get a zodiac wep it will always be better than any wep in the game same as our relic armor since it will be upgradable for those who say high alagan armor is better no it not since it cant be upgraded like relic and eventually haa will be worthless in the end

That's because coil will release new gear during the third turn of coil becoming better than current high end gear. Coil and future end game raids will always be the best gear at the time. Coil weapons are better then animus weapons now.

2% doesn't mean you will get it in 50 fates. It means you have a decent chance. If you're unlucky, it's not unusual for it to take 100 or more.

Well, it's actually local time, not server time. Not saying the theory has been correct, but everyone I know that tries it has has better luck than not.

Not saying that method is true, just saying it does make more sense if you go in the correct Zodiac order.

Yeah I can't do it anymore, I am sorta broken up about it because I'm not much for getting into the whole social aspect of the game where you're making statics etc and Relic was my refuge from that.

SE needs to get it's mind right and keep the system that has worked for them. I know some people complained about Relics being easy, but RNG isn't a challenge it's sometimes a complete destroyer of your gaming experience. A challenge would have been to tie Atma into beasts like Titan etc where you had to at least demonstrate a level of skill or coordination to clear, running around following people in a party isn't really skillfull or hard work, it's just a time sink.

Which is what scares me most, SE is already trying to give us wild time sinks which I remember this happening on FFXI when the content rollouts started to dwindle and we haven't even seen the first expansion even in any kind of preview.

And the greater the points, the better the droprate. And each run drop only 1 atma at max for the whole party (8*12 runs minimum to give everyone in the party all atmas), but once you have the 12 you don't need to do it again for the other weapons.

So you want to kill Titan for your relic, upgrade it to Zenith, then kill Titan again for atma? You also say you're not much for getting into the whole social aspect and making statics, so the relic was your refuge from that, but you want atmas to be obtained through content that demonstrates a level of coordination with other people. You sir seem to be having an argument with yourself.
