Since it's a 4 part armor.
No, and it really sucks/makes the armor pointless as a result.
It can, you can glamour it on top of your reindeer suit or vice-versa.
And....that's about it.
You can glamour the head however, the rest you cannot.
Square dropped the ball on this one.
Big time. It needs to be changed.
On another note... the head/body cloaks that are "all classes" , other cas t er cloaks, and tank darklight cannot be glamoured either. I really wanted to wear a black cloak over the valor set, but cant. Just make it so the 2 piece armor glamours over the body, and head wear is disabled. Same for odin gear... body gets glamoured , other pieces are disabled. Simple
Honestly? It wouldn't be terribly difficult to split apart.
Phase 1. Create four new items, one for each slot the odin armor takes up other than the helm.
Phase 2. Replace current Odin Armor for "Odin Armor Voucher" in Mor Dhona. (Still purchasable with 5 Odin's Mantles)
Phase 3. Allow the "Odin Armor Voucher" to be given to any Calamity Salvager, which will unlock the current version of the Odin Armor as well as the four separate pieces to be sold by the Calamity Salvager (if possible, make the first purchase free, then subsequent purchases cost, like, 10,000 Gil or something). Also, if anyone currently owns the current Odin Armor, allow them to buy the Odin Armor and the four separate pieces from the Calamity Salvager.
Optional: Allow every item purchasable with Odin's Mantles and Behemoth's Horns to be purchaseable from the Calamity Salvager for gil, unlocked upon purchase at Revenant's Toll.
That seems like it would be an easy fix that would help everyone.
Agree they need to split the 4 slot items up and in future not make any more cause its pointless. although I think they said they have no plans to do so, typical SE.
The entirety of the Glamour system is messed up, to be honest. This right here is just one example of how. They need to overhaul the whole thing.
Looking at you guys throw around Whiteknight makes me a little sick. I think the system is pretty good as it is and while it features some restrictions it's reasonably open. However it'd be nice if people could use things like Odin's Armor or some of the other one piece items. I doubt implementing a fix would require an "overhaul" nor is the system "bad" because it doesn't have this feature. I wish you guys understood what mockeries of thinking adults you look like when you make something so simple and non-offensive into some either-or slap fight.
whiteknight overhaul… i care little .. MY CHARACTER LOOKS AWESOME IN ODIN ARMOUR SO I WANT TO USE MY ODIN ARMOUR !!! PLEASE SE:)
iam surprised they dropped the ball on this though it was quite useless from the start being ilvl 55 gear being able to use it for glamour would have given it a bit of life.. kinda defeats the purpose of wasting time with odin fate now for useless crazy awesome looking armour!!
I would assume SE made it a single piece because they wanted you to wear the entire thing. Splitting it up would also mean they have to add a new system that says "BEEP! You are not allowed to exit this equipment menu without wearing the full Odin set".
On the other hand they could have done a REAL vanity system instead of something as terrible as this one. That way this would never have been an issue at all.
How is it ?
The whole point of Odin, Chocobo and Reindeer armour is for vanity reasons, yet the vanity system doesn't really allow you to use these pieces because of convoluted restrictions.
So yes the whole system does need to be reworked or the gear needs to be redesigned.
SE did a very poor job on the Glamour system IMO, PS3 limitations be damned.
Why not just make Odin's armor require 4 prisms, you choose to Glamour it, and it takes over those 4 slots? I don't see why it would be such a hard thing for them to code.
It obviously would be terribly hard.
If it was easy, we would have gotten a duplicate of our equipment menu, but everything equipped there would be visible instead unless left empty. But since you could have a body + head item in body, and head slot empty, it would be really confusing to program that it is an exception and the empty slot does not mean show original head, but should show the body head model. I'm almost positive it is these multiple part armors that made them create this confusing system to begin with. So they could set up that combo pieces only work with combo pieces and whatever else restrictions are out there.
It is terribly funny Malamasala how many games actually have already addressed this type of thing already and done so fairly easily. It's just an issue of a rushed vanity system that they didn't care about just like most of this game. From the first raid being non FCable(and full of crappy gear to boot) to the destruction of the usefulness of the crafts and the economy because the RMT might use it... Not sure how you guys can defend them. But again, thanks for giving me additional ammunition to use on my friend's demands I give it another chance.
Rift system is much better. The "Wardrobe" system has you simply build equipment sets which you can freely switch between (or no equipment set at all to look precisely as your gear presents you), and hence doesn't suffer from anything like this.
System needs to get changed. I want to wear the Herklaedi full time.
In regards to everyone dissing on this guy, the system currently put in place technically DOES work perfectly; however, it doesn't work the way it NEEDS to work. You want to glamour this CT chest over this myth piece? WORKS FLAWLESSLY. Not allowing the ability to glamour the items put in the game merely for glamour(i.e. Odin armor) is purely on SE, not a fault of the system currently.
Please, do tell how this has anything to do with the PS3. I can hardly see the PS3 being a reason they couldn't implement glamouring a 4 piece armor over 4 separate pieces. PS3 can do T9, but can't handle a simple glamour mechanic? Yeah no. No logic there. It was just pure nonsense on Se's part for glamour.
Having an idea and actually implementing in programatically are 2 very different things. This would require the armor to be broken up not only graphically but in the code behind connecting it to the database. And in the database. I'm very certain they have considered the implications of this and realized that it simply isn't possible at the moment. Possibly down the line this will become an option, but for now that is a lot of man-hours for something like this.
It feels almost like they wanted to make a vanity system, managed to get it halfway done, and decided they couldn't waste any more time or money on it so they'd just patch it in half-finished and pretend like it works just fine.
I think you misunderstand how simplistic changing the code for this idea would actually be.
When implementation occurs:
IF "Herklaedi" is in Inventory
THEN SWITCH -> "Herklaedi Purchased" = ON
When at Calamity Salvager
IF SWITCH -> "Herklaedi Purchased" = ON
THEN WARESADD "Herklaedi Cuirass", "Herklaedi Gauntlets", "Herklaedi Greaves", "Herklaedi Sabatons", "Herklaedi"
Barring coding safeguards and complexities that Square-Enix wrote themselves into, it would essentially be that simple to include.
I'm not saying you'd have to physically break up the armor. Make the full armor accessible as normal, but allow the individual pieces to also be accessible. It seems like the most valid way possible of splitting up the armor without completely revamping the Item Redemption System to allow multiple items to be redeemed from vendors in a single transaction.
It does work perfectly.
Odin is event gear, currently it's the only other body piece that causes this issues besides;
Reindeer
Snowman
Darklight
Low Level Cowls
All of which aren't a big enough worry to invest time into allowing people to glamour Odin's pieces.
Besides the point however as they already confiremd that they're not changing it, so it's less of a white-knight and more of a "This is what you're getting, deal with it"
You miss out on one piece of event gear to glamour (after they said they refuse to change it), hardly warrants it's as broken.
Is it possible to add this?
Yes, very.
Are they going to?
Not likely, it's only a few pieces of gear among many.
Why?
They already said they're not going to change it.
Missing out on Odin gear doesn't mean the vanity system is broken per-say, it seems more a time consideration.
"Do we have time to fuss with the Multi-Slots Event Gear sets?
"Nope, there are higher priority concerns, let's move onto the next task"
Call it white-knighting, I'm just parroting what they've already said.
Seriously, it *should* be stupid easy to implement. If a piece of armor is glamored to take up multiple slots, then don't display the slots it covers. If that can't be put together in a matter of hours by a programmer, then their programmers did a poor job writing the system.
Also applies to merged head+chest pieces and merged pant+boot pieces. Some of the better plate leggings (WAR/PLD gear) are merged, for instance. The heavier single boot pieces don't look as bulky and/or can't be dyed.
It's really too bad in its current state. The odin armor is one of the best looking plate armors currently in the game.
and there's nothing wrong with using the forums to provide feedback to SE that some people think this is a bad decision on their part. Hopefully they'll reconsider.Quote:

There's many things to take into account when doing something like that which I don't think you're taking into consideration. Firstly, you are using hardcoded values there. Example or not, I don't think they'd be that silly. Secondly, you would need to change the behavior of not only the items in question, but the Calamity Salvager, and the inventory. I don't pretend to know how DB-driven their code is, but regardless this is more than that. Add in the fact in would have to reconfigure the existing glamour algorithm and you've got a lot of work ahead of you. Not to mention bugs.
