Housing area is a sanctuary so it wouldn't be able to be used anyways.
Would honestly love a training dumnmy outside the house!
Don't know why you think housing area being a sanctuary makes it a non-combat zone. I can think of several sanctuaries out in the world where you can be engaged with an enemy.
Prepare to turn your houses into battle training camps because training dummies are on the way as an outside furnishing! Once the implementation timing has been decided we’ll make an update. :)
If you do add a personal training dummy for FC/housing, it would be interesting if you could set the dummy to "save" battle data when testing the potency of certain rotations. Such as you set a time limit say 30 seconds to 2 mins, and once the time starts you engage with the dummy until the timer is up and once the time runs out it will give you information like your hardest hitting skill and total damage.
Neat! Now when can we begin dueling one another? I want to be able to duel in the Coliseum with spectators able to view us from above as they walk about their business.
This, right here, would be ultimate. An easy implementation such as this would allow us to better optimize our gear as well has have one, solid, completely accurate way to test stat changes, dps and curing potency. It would be such an easy addition at that, so it really feels like it comes down to whether the devs actually want to implement it, or not.
I'm a little bit torn on this. I think it'd bother me if some random stranger comes hurling fireballs into my yard.
additionally, non FC members can't interact with your menders/merchants/summoningbell/or toggleable furniture, so I don't think we ahve to worry about people nuking our tiny yards (one flare would probably take out my house. may I should look into getting homeowner's insurance).
It's almost like they have multiple teams specialising in different fields working on different things at the same time, graphics artists and story writers really won't be much use on the networking or programming fronts, unless you actually want a complete novice tampering with code.
I would prefer that it did actual DPS calculations over the entire time we've been hitting it. Occasionally popping up an average DPS number every few seconds while you are sustaining an assault. This would make it so a lot of players don't need parsers to determine their rotations.
Please please please please please please please please please please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have been a good boy and not used any parser because its against the ToS, but I would REALLY love this. I play MNK as my main dps class and there is a lot to consider there...DoT clipping, det builds vs crit builds vs SkSp builds and which skills to use if I am overweight in any of those, etc.
Just giving me a "total damage done" after a time limit has expired would be fantastic! I don't need a dps read-out I can do DMG / TIME on a piece of paper if I have to #longdivision.
You can have it be really expensive! I don't care! Levi Barb + 3 different X mode weapons + 2mil gil? DONE. You can even use ADS plating or a "Allagan Tomestone of Calculus" that you can make drop from Turn3, make it look like a magiteck-ish allagan contraption. If you are not going to let us parse, at least give me some way to get some empirical data.
What I'd like on training dummies is an ability an option or type with an adjustable HP on them, and for them to stay dead in some damage state after the HP is exhausted, perhaps until you interact with them and select "Prepare Dummy", where you could then choose the new HP (with some sensible maximum HP range).
So you could for instance set your dummy to have 90k HP, start a stop watch when you start hitting it and stop it when it breaks. If it took you 5 minutes to knock it out then you could easily calculate that to be 300 DPS.
Apologies for the necrobump, but I figure this is the best thread to ask:
When this is implemented, it would be great to have functionality that allows players to set the Level / stats of their house's striking dummy, as well as having the option for the striking dummy to attack the player (with settable potency and it cannot reduce the player's HP below 1).
One of the things that is specifically missing in the game is a viable way to test Morale, there's no real way to test out exactly how effective it is versus other stats other than in the field, and it's difficult to get a controlled environment in PVP. Since Morale affects both Offensive and Defensive capabilities in PVP, it's a rather important stat and it would be beneficial to be able to try it out. As an example, I'm not entirely sure that the 40 morale on the Direwolf Grimoire of Casting is worth the loss of 8 weapon damage, 14 INT, and 14 VIT from my High Allagan Grimoire of Casting. If I had a Striking Dummy that I could set morale to and was affected by morale, I could do some testing with other PVP gear to see how much of a difference that Morale made and make a decision from there. As it is now, even if I were to purchase the Direwolf Grimoire of Casting and use it, it would probably be difficult to tell exactly how effective or ineffective it is versus my other weapon due to other players' morale affecting how much damage I deal to them. Unless players get a controlled environment in which to test this kind of thing, it will remain unclear as to how effective it is so it's difficult for players to make informed decisions with their Wolf Mark purchases.
