Idea to remedy the Atma issue.

The idea I have for this is, we can keep the FATE thing if SE really wants to, and Put in each area a "charge bar".

Example:

- Beat FATE (Charges 1/50)
- Beat FATE ( Charges to 2/50)

After certain amount of FATEs you get a Atma "Attached" to your Zenith weapon. Do this for all the areas they have in the Zodiac Quest then bring the Weapon with the attached Atmas on it to receive the upgrade.

That way we are guaranteed to get 1 Atma attached from so many FATEs and will free up inventory space.

* Have to have Zenith Equipped for it to work
* Have to be on the Job in question to get the Atma attached to said weapon.

I prefer how it is currently.

So its another fancy way of saying do 50 fates to obtain an Atma? No.

They might as well as well add the 50 x 12 = 600 fates to the second part of the quest and do away with the first part completely. The rng from Atma is what differentiates it from the second part of the quest. The only thing I would change is to make the Atma have a chance to drop from any mob in a zone rather than from fates specifically. This eliminates the need for waiting for fates to spawn and the long travel time between fates.

We need more ways to obtain the Atma. I don`t know about other servers but on my server the fate parties are becoming less frequent. They are still there but not as many as 2 weeks ago when the patch hit.

It's a heck of a lot better than "not knowing" when you are going to get an Atma. At least everyone will have equals shots of getting an Atma after X amount of FATEs as to what we have now where 1 person can get it on 1 try and another person takes 100 tries or more.

I think this would be a good idea, honestly. I dunno about the people saying the RNG for the Atmas is "Just Fine", but I think it's NOT "Just Fine", and is a horrible mistake. SE didn't need to employ RNG to make sure it'd take a while to get these Atmas, and I really hope they don't rely on RNG as heavily as they did in 2.2.

And you've just hit upon why the "special snowflakes" don't want a progressive system like the one you've proposed.

All for % to increase as you do more fates. Not having an upper cap is retarded game design.
You can cap the increase at say...25% to leave some RNG in there but at least that is more tolerable than 1%...

Any RNG at 1% should die in a fire and be buried and forgotten.

I mean If you do say 300 FATES ( 25 FATEs per Atma) in total to get all 12 Atma, that's STILL a lengthy process for both hardcore and casuals.

I hate FATEs as the next person, but I rather know how many FATEs I need to do to be done with it.

Edit: if your a get all Atma Weapons kind of person, that's 2,700 FATES @.@.

make it 500 fates per map to fill one bar and we are talking. Besides, there is no atma issue, there is just the relic upgrade system that works perfectly.

I don't mind the grind. I just think it could have been handled much better. Seriously, "Hey there's a way for you to make your uber cool relic even more awesome. Wanna know how?" YES PLOX!! "Go kill lvl 2 monstars NAO."

You want guaranteed progression? Part 2 is for you. Leave part 1 for people who like rng. You will love part 2 when you have to run dungeons and kill mobs hundreds of times. That for me is a mindless grind with maybe a .001% progression per kill. Me? I like to see a 8% progression when I get an Atma drop. All or nothing. Right now the system caters to both types of playerbases. Do not be so selfish to expect the developers only to cater to you.

Unless one can get past something they hate, they can never get to something they like. If both are in the same path ( content) then getting what you desire will most likely be boring, especially if it's something that can potentially take you 1 month for 1 job just to do part 1. If the RNG was somewhat "forgiving" than what it is now, I honestly wouldn't be making this thread offering ideas to curb this tortuousness.

Based on the number of people running around with Atma weapon on my server already, I would presume that it honestly isn't as bad as many other grinds out there. Using a bell curve as a reference, the outliers at both ends of the bell curve would see the greatest anomolies in the statistics. The median time taken for most people seem to be around 2-3 hours/atma, which seems reasonable imo. Everyone has a different threshold for tortuousness , some people need a break every half hour, some people can go on for 12 hours non stop. Maybe coming from a background of mmos such as Ragnarok online, rose online and maple, I might be basing my judgement on those games. Atma in comparison, is a joke.

Why do people assume that those who like RNG somehow has the best luck around? You realize that the "unfairness" you imply that exists in rng applies to ALL players, not only to a specific group of special snowflakes. These people do not somehow have a spell they can cast that magically increases their droprate by 50%.

You want my personal experience? Sure. I got my atma only 2 days back, I clocked over 60 hours doing fates spread out over three weeks, doing fates while waiting for duty finder to pop. I never focused on getting the atma all this time, because I realized that it is a long term goal, not a short term one, and I would better serve my raid by getting levi weapons in the meantime. My longest farm time was almost a week/20 hours farming atma of the fish in lower la noscea. Whether I did 1000 fates or not I'm not sure as I did not keep track.

Yesterday I was quite happy to finally have my 12 ATMAS together. Then I started with the 1st book and sat around for almost an hour waiting for a FATE to pop up I needed for my book.

Really SE? After making us doing hundreds of them, it is now waiting insane times for rare FATES? You guys have a complete different understanding of slowing down progression and implementing timesinks and long term goals than I do. The basic idea with the books is fine with me, it is a nice variety and may bring people to look into stuff they haven't done before or haven't done for a long time.

But the Atma quest should start directly with the books, not with grinding level 3 fates. What you have to do for a book is far enough for a +2 INT or whatever upgrade. I'd like to have more than one ATMA weapon (at least for my most played classes) but with this system, it is most likely never going to happen. This is kinda sad..I was expecting Relict weapons to be part of my journey and that they grow with me and keep on top of things.

Ideas to adjust the quest assuming SE won't take the FATES out:

- make the 12 ATMA areas high level areas only. There are enough places in Eorzea where you have Level 40+ mobs
- add a counter to each ATMA that raises the chance bonus to receive an ATMA by a low percentage after unsuccessful FATES
- don't make the Relic Zenith weapon mandatory, allow players to level their other chars with the FATES
- special FATES for the books should be put into a seperate queue and spawn more often than normal FATES
- for the books, provide us with quests connected to Level 50+ content so we earn our myth tomes needed for the other books automatically

Doing 50 Fates is way too easy. In some place you may be able to do them in less than 1h. You just need to jump in, tag a few monsters and go to the next one.

Yup the books are the real timesink, you have to grind 1.5k myth per book and there are 9 books, you have to kill 10 mobs of each type in different areas and some only spawn in sets of 3, you have to cycle leves until the one you want shows up, you have to wait for the queue for the lower level dungeons, you have to wait for even more FATES with even longer waiting times to spawn. At least you can do it at your own pace and it actually feels rewarding every time you finish a book, almost have enough myth for my 4th one. There was no sense of reward or achievement or anything from getting all Atmas at least for me, it was just spam a single button until I got lucky. Some people like that apparently, funny how it's always the people that got it the fastest.

Should have skipped the whole RNG thing and just added more steps and objectives to the books, maybe even throw in one EX Primal or Coil turn except maybe turn 5 per book or maybe every 3 books, maybe even add Guildhests or CT to them, anything just to avoid a badly executed RNGfest.
