If Level Cap Was Raise To 55....

These Are the Abilities I'd Like To See when that happens

Warrior:

51 -Whirling Fury : 100 Potency. Stuns Targets in a 5 yalm Radius for 3 Sec, Targets Hit By this attack Damage is reduced by 10% for 12secs. Grants Wrath. 90sec CD.

53- War Cry: Increase Party Determination by 10% for 12secs. Grants Wrath. 120sec CD.

55 - Defiance II: (Trait) Wrath Stacks will stack up to a max of 10 now, All Wrath Abilities Cost 5 Stacks. (Infuriate only Grants 5 Stacks)

Paladin

51- Enlight: (Trait). Flash now does Magic Damage with Potency of 50. Does not break Sleep or Bind.

53 - Holy Circle: Players within 8 yalm of the Caster will recieve 20% Damage Reduction for 10secs. Has No effect on Caster. 120sec Recast.

55 - Swords of Light (Trait) Rage of Halone and Roit Blade will always Crit if HP is 100%. Riot Blade will now reduced Target Magic Resistence by 10% when Combo'd.

First problem, traits and abilities are granted at specific levels for all classes. As such, you're not going to have one class get an ability at 51 and another an ability.

Increasing Determination would be basically worthless. In fact, there are not buffs in the game that actually affect determination. Even the NPC abilities that say "Increased Determination" are percentage increases to damage. I would expect an ability like this to follow suit and be a straight up increase to all damage and healing (probably 5%).

This would be broken as hell. Remember that Wrath stacks provide Crit as well as providing an ability resource so you'd be providing WARs with, if they're played as they currently are, a permanent 10% +crit. Even if you just do it as a resource thing, you're basically giving Infuriate on demand and removing any of the opportunity cost for delaying Wrath consumption (or, more accurately, you're changing the opportunity cost from "not being able to use Wrath consumer for 20 seconds" to "can only use one Wrath consumer in the next 20 seconds").

Also, keep in mind that jobs only provide abilities whereas classes can actually have traits. Since Defiance is a job ability, it's not liable to get a trait unless the devs tweak that aspect.

If they *were* to allow jobs to have traits instead of abilities, I would expect that the largest that Defiance would be allowed to get would be 7 stacks: it would allow you to "store" stacks that would otherwise we wasted and bank them to get back to 5 stacks faster without letting you completely ignore the opportunity cost associated with using them.

You would need to make sure that the damage doesn't apply to the Slept/Bound targets as opposed to simply not breaking those effects.

This would be completely broken as all hell. Guaranteed critting on Halone and Riot Blade while at 100% hp is a massive boost to OT damage. The tweak to Riot Blade is even more borked because you're providing a 10% increase to all damage on a constant basis. Seeing as PLDs are tanks, the minute reduction in damage and enmity would be monumentally overshadowed by the ability for a PLD to provide an 11% increase to the damage of any healer or caster in the group for the entire fight.

RoH is already a plenty strong ability without need more buffs. Riot Blade is only bad because it doesn't have a third tier combo. If you want to make Riot Blade better and increase PLD OT damage (which, btw, is actually very good; the only time WAR really outstrips PLD is in tank stance), the solution would be to simply *add that third tier combo attack* rather than trying to buff the living hell out of Riot Blade.

In general, I really doubt that we'll get 3 new abilities/traits with an increase to 55. At most, I expect 1 trait or ability from class and 1 ability from job, most likely to round out missing or substandard capabilities, like the lack of a real low enmity combo for PLD or virtually nonexistent utility of the WAR.

Something I'd like to see for the WAR would actually be a longer range (12-15y) pull or a short (1y) knockback (basically an interrupt that isn't a stun/silence). Holmgang can still be the "I can't die", but it would be an excellent way to bolster the virtual nonexistence of the WAR utility suite.

I suspect this is the reason why a lot of abilities were removed from version 1.0/1.23 - they're not gone for good but SE are just 'holding them in reserve' for level cap increases in the future (such as Red Lotus, Phalanx, Aegis Boon etc). At least, I hope this is the case.

IMO what PLDs need addressed most are the following:

Tempered Will
Shield Swipe
Riot Blade

Tempered Will needs to actually do something... maybe reflect the debuffs back to the mob at the very least.
Shield Swipe and Riot Blade need to be part of a combo situation

Tempered Will used to be far more useful in 1.23, where there were so many enemies that caused knock-back (hence it's main use), but because of Beta tester complaints in phase 1, many mobs that formerly caused knockback (like vultures and boars) no longer do. Really, if they could make it so it makes the player immune to terminal knockback (ala, Titan, Demon Wall), but then give it a long cooldown, it would actually be very useful.

And Shield Swipe is very useful - yes it's somewhat random (as that it can only be used after blocking), but everytime it comes up I immediately use it, the Pacification effect on the enemy can be a great help. And Riot Blade is situational if you're spamming Flash a lot and need the MP recovery. I agree it could probably be given a better combo than just coming off Fast Blade.

It does work on Titan(NM/HM/Ex) and Demon Wall knockbacks (and possibly on Leviathan's ship slams and Garuda's whirlwinds). The 3 min cooldown time is more of a problem; in those fights it will make a Paladin knockback immune to one Upheavel/Landslide or Repel per fight if properly timed.

Also works on Twintania divebombs and those guys in CT that knock the tank back. \o/

I think GLA (or PLD) needs an usefull third part for the Riot Blade combo.

Because nowadays, Rage Of Halone provides the best damage output AND the most enmity boost AND the only debuff a GLA WS can do on GCD. So, playing a PLD is basically the same combo over and over.
For the WAR, you have to choose between an enmity/damage combo, a buff combo or a debuff combo, and it's far more interesting to play.

I'd already said in another thread that Paladins should get a third part of the Riot Blade combo. Something like Divine Blade or Holy Sword which deals Holy type magical damage and costs MP to use. The MP use would be greater than the MP regained through Riot Blade, meaning in the same way as you use TP over time, you would still be losing out on MP to maintain the combo. You could also make it so it places a debuff the opposite to Rage of Halone which reduces the target's magic power, so a Paladin would be expected to maintain both combos to maintain both de-buffs.

I use Tempered Will a lot. The second set of Divebombs on T5 when tanking the snakes, and for the Row Bombs before Superbombs on Titan XM in particular. My Static is good at baiting the 5-way Landslide before moving to their safe spot, but some PUGs will often jump the gun, dropping Landslide right on top of me, so I always pop it right as the Bombs spawn.

If the level cap increased, I'd like to see Warrior's level 55 Job Skill be a DPS stance, completely the opposite to Defiance.

I would love to see pld get Aegis Boon back. They would have to tweak it a bit since it was pretty OP in early 1.0. Was a great skill though, got better the more you learned to time it right. Would make a killer combo with bulwark.

Woah a 25%+ Damage would be OP or Borderline.... Warrior DPS outside Defiance is pretty high already if you spec STR and Wear STR Accessories.

Enlight would be broken in pvp if the damage didnt break sleep, but who cares about pvp in this game amirite? lol

If they did give Riot Blade a Tier 3 attack, it would HAVE to be an AoE type attack.

Because I'm effing tired of Warrior getting Overpower and we get stuck with the flashlight cop duty. ¬_¬

Some might be a bit OP. Just did for fun and tried to make it relatively balanced without much thought.

PLD:

51:
{Sanguine Blade - Combo off of Riot Blade. Recovers HP upon hit with a slightly higher potency than Bloodbath. Combo Potency 280. (Damage combo).
OR
Uriel Blade - AoE cone. Non combo. Additional effect: enmity boost. Potency 120 (same as overpower).}

53: Chivalry - swaps TP and MP (by %). [say you have a cap of 2000 MP (for ease of math), while TP is always 1000 cap. At 1200/2000 and 500/1000, the swap will make it 1000/2000 and 600/1000]

55: Phalanx: Provides 5% damage mitigation for 15 seconds and increases block rate. (3 min CD)

WAR:


51: Warrior's Charge - Off GCD circle AoE enmity attack, 100 potency. Can only be used when 10y-15y from target (like shoulder tackle). Instead of pulling mobs, you go to them! :D

53: Defender - 10% damage mitigation for 10 seconds (same CD as Rampart, [less potent since WAR is the meat shield and PLD has a shield]).

55: Raging Rush - Off GCD 300 potency attack. Pacifies enemy for a short duration (5 seconds? whatever shield swipe's is), 3 minute recast.

I'd like to see paladins get something comparable (but different) than overpower. Either a third combo from riot blade that's aoe or a merit or some other skill upgrade that makes riotblade do aoe damage.

Combo off of Riot could be something with an effect as simple as %25 to reset the CD on Scorn.

Okay, firstly the levels for a lot of these skills are really off. You're setting them up to happen faster than getting the skills they've gotten so far. I expect that any new skills would likely be 5 levels apart, meaning there would be a single class skill if the cap is at 55. There would also be the Job Skill but that's not really relevant to adding a combo piece to Riot blade.

With that noted, a high potency combo piece off Riot Blade that has a chance to reset Circle is likely the simplest and all around most effective choice.

On Demon Wall, just plain blocking the Repel also negates the knock back as well. I remember because my first couple of times in there, I saw it happen a few times and thinking that was cool as hell.

.Seeing how it would be more then likely 3 skills total. 2 class skills probably lvl 52 and 54 (or one of them a trait) and new job skill at 55, this would be my thoughts for warrior. With current content being more and more designed for 2 tanks. Why not setup based on that. Tank swapping happens so going to suggest things to help while in the ot spot just DPS

Lvl 52 - trait - Enhanced Holmgang - Increase duration to 12 while releasing bind effect after 6 seconds. (Something that probably should be done without a trait)

Lvl 54 - skill - Strike the the Storm - potency 100 attack that adds a potency 10 dot for 12 seconds. Combo : Storms Path : Combo : 280 potency with a 20 potency dot for 12 seconds. Grants wrath while in defiance or consumed rage stance.

Lvl 55 - Job Skill - Consumed Rage - Stance - allows the building of wrath stacks while active similar to defiance.

The job skill could be a little op in a lot of regards but would give us a DPS stance like paladin gets. The new lvl 54 skill would allow warrior to have a pure DPS rotation while in OT position removing BB combo from rotation. You would overwrite your buffs but with fracture and wrath abilities using the gcd keeping the dot from Strike of the Storm running would not allow BB combo.


Lvl 52 - trait - Enhanced Tempered Will - Effect now applies to party members near you. (Mantra size) (maybe weak so new suggestion? I don't play paladin)

Lvl 54 - skill - name? - deliver 100 potency attack. Combo : Riot Blade : potency 280 attack with a chance to immediately rest your gcd ( small maybe 5% chance?) (Would allow paladin to spam this 1 DPS rotation and have a chance that fast blade can be used immediately to start the next rotation roughly 2 seconds faster)

Lvl 55 - Job Skill - Light of Justice - potency 100 attack frontal cone. Increase Enmity.

That's ridiculously high damage for a tank to have. It's a potency 360 attack that you're basically using every other combo on top of maintaining your buffs. Also, it increases Wrath stack accumulation even when you're tanking such that you'll be getting 5 every 7 attacks instead of 8.5. It's a massive DPS increase in every way. It's also a t4 combo, of which there are none in the game.

It's not needed. Sword Oath is there because PLDs don't get Maim. WAR without Defiance still does more damage than PLD with Sword Oath.

WAR already has a "pure DPS" rotation without using BB combo for OT: SE>SP. It does only marginally less damage than SE>BB but maintains both debuffs on the target with 100% uptime, which is more useful for an OT than straight SE>BB. It also doesn't make sense if you were thinking that we didn't already have a non-enmity rotation of SE>SP since you had the new ability combo off of SP so you're already assuming that SP is going to be used.

Seriously, you seem to be operating under the delusion that WAR is a substandard OT and needs more. WAR is a tank. New abilities should actually focus on them being, you know, tanks. They don't need any more damage or a reason to not run around outside of Wrath because we already do damage just fine.
