I'm excited for the info on Gold Saucer too!
Way to take a long time to release info that was fan translated live >_> Half the discussion they cover are things we already know now that 2.2 is actually out.
It definitely took us a bit of time to ensure everything is 100% accurate to get this one posted.
That said, players who are waiting on the official finalized details can always avail themselves to the live translated and transcribed Q&A that we post during the show. We'll continue to work on the speediness in the future. :)
I hope that mean 2.X patches and not 3.X Patches ;).Quote:
A: Maehiro: The other day I attended a meeting about the art for future patches, and there was a piece that was labeled “Sharlayan!”
They could just make it an instanced area for now and have it as a fully fleshed out area later.
Really, the cost of just using simultaneous translation during the live letter broadcast can't be that high. Quit cheaping out!!
No, my post said:
Basically, unless it's an instanced location we probably won't see it until post expansion, since the other topic about open world had people stating it's impossible for SE to new ones unless it's instanced :p We still have awhile to go till 3.0 so it could be sooner, but 3.0 is most likely considering yoshi said the theme is the war of the magi.Quote:
unless, according to the "developers other MMOs who play this game", Sharlayan is an instanced dungeon
So basically nothing the actual developers said at all, and seems to be entirely conjecture from the community. Got it.
Also, "unless, according to the "developers other MMOs who play this game" is such a broken statement. I assume you're trying to say according to developers who make other MMO's who also play this game. If that is indeed what you meant then those "developers" have opinions no different than any other community member and don't have any real answers for us.
In patch 2.0 and 2.1, the equipment from the Binding Coil of Bahamut and the equipment you could obtain with Allagan tomestones of mythology were exactly the same, and I think this detracted from players’ motivation. This time around we've prepared something a little different, so they won't necessarily be equal. As I mentioned earlier, we’ve prepared three main ways to increase your item level, and regardless of which route you take you’ll be able to achieve the same item level in the end.
3 ways to increase item levels with end result been able to achieve same item level....mmmkkk.
Which is what is upsetting people. To be promised 3 paths, which, honestly, from the letter, sounded like an expansion on the 2 paths we had in 2.2, and wind up with ultimately a single path was a bit of a shock. Hopefully the developers will realize this difference in reception and provide us with alternate endgame routes to ilvl110 before it becomes outdated, or, at the very least, keep the desire for genuinely separate paths to reaching max gear level in mind moving forward.
To be fair, they are posting translations the Q&A when the video is running. And no matter how fast you translate, that will never be completely in sync simply because it takes time to translate, type, and post.
I also understand that they post an "official" translation later. And with that I mean a translation where the wording etc has been looked at carefully (if you want to translate fast you simply have less time to think about the best translation possible). That said, it would be nice if said translation came a bit quicker, say within a week or so.
I would have added Sea before Sky for a normal progression (you can see it in almost every FF unlike FF5). I think 'sky' generally is always the ultimate goal in an 'adventure'.
How much extra will we have to pay on our sub for you guys to get a translator that can do what a fan translator does about 14 times as fast?
Or is it the zone for frontlines?
Reference or not it doesn't mean that they are directly saying it's going to be the war of the magi. You're reading far too much into a small hint. So far as we know there IS no war of the magi in this world what-so-ever. However, we do know of the war ishgard has been fighting against the dragons for quite a while. If I was going to make baseless conjecture I'd go with that instead of the plot of FF6 which doesn't hold any real bearing on this game.
It's called a reference - You twisted it into something that it's not. Did you know? We're getting the Golden Saucer despite it having huge plot significance in FFVII? Did you know, in 2.0's story some Garleans hail from Dalmasca in the original text that was later changed? Did you know Doma is a blatant reference as well? What else do you feel isn't a reference and want to take literally? ^^
No one said it will be the war against humans and espers, it being 'war of the magi' could mean anything due to the fact it's a reference - How can you obtain a book detailing knowledge about a war that "didn't happen" and Gerlot getting info out of it to restore your relic? Then again, I pay too much attention to RPG storylines rather than skip through it.
This. Your original statement was just wrong. Regardless of how you want to twist it with "references" you actually quoted him incorrectly. You took "millennia-old conflict" and immediately act like Yoshi actually said "war of the magi" which he most certainly did not say. You said it. Whether it was a reference or not you yourself took it to the next possible conclusion in your mind and announced that as fact instead. That's my problem here. Not with references, but with the spreading of misinformation.
A: Maehiro: Well, naturally we're working on this now, and while I can’t go too deep into detail at this point in time, I can tell you that one of the themes revolves around a great conflict that spans across millennia. Beyond this, I can only ask you to stay tuned for additional details in the future.
Yoshida: I spoke a bit before about the expansion, and I said we were deciding on whether we should swim or fly. Well, we decided to go with flying so players can expect to look to the skies in the coming expansion.
awwee :/ many ppl wanted to go swimming and stuff. oh well maybe in 4.0 we can finally swim .___.
i hate to sound selfish or anything but so many ppl requested swimming and they took a 180 to fly...
well i guess we will get mounts or airships and stuff to soar the aire and stuff. i just really want to swim soon yoshida pls.
TT___TT
I remember somewhere that 3.0 will be big as 2.0 content so expect more areas than just Ishgard.
Which means we may be looking at Sharlayan and Ala Mhigo as new areas as well.
Also maybe Garlean Empire if the story escalate far enough with the current War of Succession happening in the Garlean Empire as the final pace for 1st expansion storyline for the setting for the final boss and final battle.
I love he notices that there are no tanks in the low/high level but only tanks in endgame content (statics). Maybe if the tank achievement included the duty roulette bonus I might be more inclined to do it more often than I do now. Money is not the issue as most if not all the "good" tanks (good = tanking since launch or 2.1) have crafting and land jobs to earn money. I just sold a sailor shirt for 220k so yea money is not the issue its recognition for what we do.
So SE start counting the 4 mans towards the tank mount and I'm sure you'll see a noticeable increase in tank activity.
Yeah, it took a while... but who can blame them? Look at how some folks pick apart every word and sentence from the game to theorize what's coming out in the future. :/ As someone mentioned up thread, an unofficial translation isn't nearly as scrutinized as anything official. Mind you, I hate the delay too... :/
I would love to hear a reason that should make me believe it is a war of the magi reference. To me it seems like a pretty obvious reference to the war between Ishgard and Dravania, that has been going on for almost exactly one millennium, whereas there is nothing that would suggest the war of the magi lasted for that long. Also, the War of the Magi ended thousands of years ago.
