The game is unplayable right now.. fix the servers SE please
Mi ISP is Movistar ( Chile )
Do you even bother to read before qqing? The horrible lag in dungeons is due to too many people running them. The can be solved by upgrading the servers but that would be a bad business choice because once people got what they need and stop doing them (mainly, once crafting stops being profitable), the money spend to upgrade will be wasted. Another choice is to lower the incentives to run these dungeons so people would stop spamming them so much. I guess its a good sign that people at least have something they want to do I suppose.
If you are complaining about lags OUTSIDE of dungeons than I apologize, though I seriously doubt that is what you are complaining about. If that is the case then the problem almost certainly lies with you, your ISP, or your area.
Yes there is lag spikes inside the dungeons but there is also outside. During normal quest items interactions take too long to start and fight with enemys above your level and even 2 or 3 levels below turns out to be a gambling game. Those lags started this week i hope the situation go back to normal soon.
It's a worse business decision NOT to upgrade. Because not upgrading pisses customers off and they then go on to an MMO where the devs actually ponied up for some real servers. The LAST thing they need right now is garbage performance kicking their numbers in the nuts. The latter isn't even a choice >.> The hell else are people going to do? Quit. In droves. It's called you spend money to make money. Though I'm actually curious as to whether this is ACTUALLY a problem with the type of server and not that one of their servers is kicking the bucket and they're scrambling to figure out which.
There was a notice put out that they are aware of the issue, but it certainly is NOT just normal lag from high traffic. There is a several second gap between when spells are cast and when they go off in many dungeons (particularly 4-person instances found using DF). The game is virtually unplayable.
The skill lag is really bad right now.. the combos don't trigger and people teleports sometimes.. I see this all the time in dungeons.. but also sometimes in town.
Please fix, This lag is horrible...
Server: Coeurl
ISP: ATT Uverse
If it's just high traffic server lag, then it's the most severe case of it I've ever seen.
It looks more like broken netcode, or a serious server problem.
The game is almost unplayable. Some content would be silly to even attempt the way the lag is now.
Welcome to Update 2.2.
THROUGH THE LAGSTROM.
well... AT&T is no stranger to having issues with it's internet service, likely due in part to issues with their partners just like everyone else.

Status at time of this post shows issues in areas that frequently show up with various services having problems, some areas are major hubs for a lot of ISP's:
Here's a map with the reportings plotted out:Quote:
Recent reports mainly originated from: Chicago, Costa Mesa, New York, St. Louis, Roebuck, Lilburn, Columbia, Los Angeles, Fort Lauderdale, and Saint Albans

Anyone who has been tracking the lag issues since Beta4 will recognize some of the corridors showing up right now as I type this: Southern California, St. Louis, Chicago/Milwaukee, Ohio, Charlotte/Raleigh---these corridors have been frought with problems off and on for years because of problems with Level3, Cogentco, and TATA partners not being able to handle the load they are asked to carry from our ISP's.
So if you are having issues in the general world, there may be something going on somewhere along your route to Ormuco (SE's ISP). If it's just in instances, SE is aware there are problems specifically with their instancing system and is currently investigating according to the notices in the Lodestone. They've been researching it since March 5th and are still trying to address it. Here's the latest notice:
Currrent Known Issue Regarding the Delay Experienced in Certain Instances (Mar. 29)
Keep in mind that there have been big increases in traffic in the last few months... and not just for XIV either. They did recently announce big numbers for subscriptions... what was it.. the 1Mill mark or something? Couple that with all the cord cutters now streaming content more than ever, increased social media usage, more retail traffic over the web (had a HUGE spike during the holiday season, and it still hasn't settled back to last years average numbers for this time of year). It is just further burdening an already strained infrastructure and making what might normally be manageable very problematic in some regions.Quote:
After the release of patch 2.2, we have confirmed an issue wherein players experience a huge delay in their character’s actions while in certain instances.
We understand that this issue needs to be addressed with priority so we are currently working around the clock to investigate and address this matter.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your understanding.
Here's some more links to data on internet usage in general and categorized by industry.

It can be a real eye opener during peak times for some regions. For instance, California is currently up ~10% in usage, and Australia is slowly creeping up toward 4% over average usage. Though it may not be prime time for gaming in some markets, it may be prime time for other industries. AU is currently up 36% for Retail, +60% for Media/Entertainment, +83% for Finance, etc. Increased congestion in higher priority markets can impact other less important traffic. This is governed by the shaping rules put in place by the ISP's and not under SE's control, nor do they have any influence on those policies.
Simply put, when such congestion shoots up in the regions you are going through, world service in general may suffer in XIV. If instance content is already "iffy", it can get downright ugly.
Don't they want more players? They can't handle more people wanting to give them money? That's an excellent business plan.
Said no one ever. They have to invest in their product or it will fail. It's as simple as that. They aren't investing and the biggest thing they're trying to sell with their patch won't even work, for almost a week now. It's laughably stupid. My subscription won't be renewed.
Except it is NOT the ISP's, my net speed is cruising at about 4.5Mb down and 1Mb up (that's bytes, not bits), and it's completely stable at that speed right now. Every other web function, game, download, isp speed-test, etc. is working just fine.
Meanwhile EVERYONE (let me re-state that: EVERYONE) in the game who is doing the new instances is experiencing borderline game-breaking lag.
I just finished grinding out my 450 soldiery tokens, I've played with about 40-50 other players doing this... EVERY single one of them was experiencing lag so severe that many of us questioned even attempting to reach our token cap this week.
And it's not just new content 4-man dungeons. Crystal tower is an almost broken lag-fest. Heck, I am getting powers failing to apply their effect, out of combat, standing in mor dona. For example, summon a pet, sometimes it appears, sometimes it just eats mana and the pet is lost to lag-land. But the lag is clearly "more severe" in the dungeons than in places like public towns... yet there are game-wide lag issues.
I've messed with ports, I've killed just about every non-essential background process. It's not client-side. It is server-side. Or at the very least a badly broken internet node/hub very near the SE server (that's possible, but it's FAR more likely that either the servers bandwidth that SE is utilizing currently is not up to the task, or they messed with the net code for 2.2 and broke it. I'd give you 10:1 odds, it is one of those two possibilities. I actually lean towards it being a net code screw up, because the lag seems equally horrible at all times of the day, not just during high traffic periods.
The only other mmo I've seen experience this severe of a lag issue, unfixed for this long, is a game whose north american servers got hit by a hurricane, and they had to install the game server data onto 3rd party servers, from tape back-ups, and didn't have their own servers up & running for a bit over a week.
I'm not mad. I'm not throwing a tantrum or anything. But I am going to avoid the game this week, and hope SE fixes their problem during that time. I'm only posting on the forum to make certain that if any "bean-counter" at SE thinks that the current lag situation is passable or adequate, they are completely wrong.
I cannot play at all, sometimes I cannot connect to the lobby, crafting is impossible, and I get kicked out of the game every 5-15 minutes.
I play this game sine 24.3.2014, I AM a new customer, very annoyed and if the issue is not fixed, I will go for a refund. I played a large number of MMO, and by god, I never ever had this problems in any other game. I rarely have any lags at all. And all of them were server and load based.
I do not understand, why they dare to take a subscription fee for this game in betastate, with the obviously broken netcode. I definity will not subscribe and I will tell every single fellow gamer I met that this game is absolute unplayable. A sorry excuse for a MMORPG and a money grubbing scheme, not willing to increase the servers they need to run a serious bussiness.
Look simply at the number of worlds, they set up in the regions, and you will be forced to agree with me. ;)
I agree with you. I use a real DSL connection with up and download larger than 2.4 MB/sec. kicked all prozesses on my side. opened all neccessary ports. but to no avail.
It is a server issue. Other MMO - Guild Wars 2, Defiance, Dragon Nest Europe, DDO, the secret world - and services are running smoothly. Sometimes I am not able to connect to their lobby, regardless of the time of day. Either they have not enough servers, badly broken netcode or both. But it is not the fault of the ISP, because the problem is wide spread all over the world and all providers.
As a new player, who wanted to test the game I can say for sure: "I will not subscribe for a game, that isn't even worth to be a free 2 play game. At least these games have stable connections."
mikesde, you just gave me some great ideas. I'm currently in Japan, can switch off my VPN, create a toon, and see if the lag is an issue here too. Typically, a Japanese business would have great shame if it's (Japanese) customers did not have the best experience possible. I'll also try looking through their forums (reading Kanji is "impossible to gauge" for me though ^^;) If my attempts yield results worth mentioning, I'll come back and post. If not, I may go try Elder Scrolls Online, go back to SWTOR, or wait for Wild Star.
edit> So far, I'm not finding the massive level of lag complaints on the Japanese Forums vs. the English Forums. SE is aware of the issue and is making it their main priority. I wanted to exhaust that option first since creating a new toon and leveling it enough to do the laggy dungeons will take a while.
Here is a corrected Google translation of what SE had to say about the issue to Japanese folks.
"For the problem where operations is delayed in some content (March 30, 2014)
Published since patch 2.2, in some content, we have confirmed that there is a case where the operation of the character is greatly delayed.
With regard to this problem, it has been recognized as a problem that should be addressed with the highest priority, so we have to consider how to fix so that it can be corrected as early as possible, we ask that you please wait for a while now.
We apologize that we have the inconvenience to you."
It's not just new content. I was in Sunken Temple this afternoon with an experienced party, and we simply could not beat the first boss. It's so much a matter of timing there, with the Doom debuff, and if you can't tell what the timing is, you can't beat the boss. It was very disappointing, and I'd quite like it if that problem went away quickly.
Here's a little test for you guys.
Download a GPU monitoring program, and run around a "laggy" zone ingame.
When I am standing still in a town with nobody around me, my GPU Core load is about 70%, and I am running at 60 fps.
When I start moving, the entire game gets choppy, my framerate drops to between 10 fps and 1 fps... but thats not the interesting thing. My GPU load goes from 70% to 0, to 20ish to 0 to 20ish... and back to 0...
Basically the game is not fluidly communicating with my GPU, but is instead just sending chunks of data every second. So I perform an action, like running, the game collects my actions for a second, then sends all of that data to the GPU, I see essentially 1 frame, and repeat.
This seems like a client side issue.
It's 2014. Hire more iron from amazon or whoever. You don't need to "buy" more machines. You can hire them and then drop them when don't need anymore. But "cloud" or "scenery streaming" (so less loading frontiers ingame) seem words SE don't know at all. They program this as if we still were at FFXI 8 years ago.
It has nothing to do with loads and everything to do with the 2.2 duty changes. Everything was fine for me prior to that, now every duty is a near unplayable lagfest and even in the open world I see people teleporting around and there's delays in my abilities going off. Maybe it's how loads are allocated now or something, but either way it's directly tied to whatever SE implemented on the servers during the day long maintanence.
We need some prize for being sooo patient. I have a proposal:
Wind-up Yoshi:
No Yoshi has been harmed in the making of this automaton.
Use item to acquire the wind-up Yoshi minion. Casts a SD version of Yoshi. You can /poke it and it changes face to sad.
I can foresee a video with 200 players poking their Wind-up Yoshis at Mor Dhona ^_^
LET'S MAKE THIS HAPPEN !!!
still have lag in and out of dungeons which for example before patch after Ice 3 mana would fill
So end rotation for example would be flare>transpose> wait a few seconds for tick>Ice 3> continue on
now doing so i can wait almost a full minute at times and also am having to use ice 1 multiple times to get any sort of mana back
So issue is more of a concern i would say, and still no forum fix. My name is not Naoki_Yoshida, lol
Supposedly they are doing yet ANOTHER maintenance on the 4th. Maybe this time we won't even be able to log on.
