SE is nerfing turns 1-5 via echo/reset removal; while the three new dungeons being added are I-level 55. Players will be able to spam T1 and T2 with ease (earn up to 6 pieces of allagan gear), plow through easier versions of T4 and T5 and make the three new dungeons completely irrelevant / inferior difficulty.
Legitimate Question: If the only progression after T5 are 4 mini dungeons (turns 6-9), why is SE in such a hurry to get everyone there? These 4 mini dungeons are to be the hardest content for 6 months (until the next coil). How bout we wait till there's more content before catapulting the entire community past turn 5?

Because SE made this a theme park MMO. However, unlike a real theme park, when SE releases a new ride, they go back to all the old rides and slow them down and adjust them for toddlers so that everyone, including the toddlers can experience all of the rides.
I quit this game, I was a white knight, but this is the 2nd ffxiv launch I've supported and been anything but what I was hoping it would be. I'm done. This game continues to take directions I disagree with, and I don't see that changing. Really I think I'm done with MMO's in general.
The days of Ever Crack, FFXI, and Vanilla WOW are gone, and I don't think they are ever coming back, and that's the genre I want to play. -

As someone who hasn't even gotten past T1 yet, even I was disappointed to see the iLvls set so slow on the new dungeons. With the way they were talking up the new Amdapor dungeon, I figured it would be at least an i70 dungeon to justify the new tome drops.

After reading the nova crystallis interview, what I understand is that the buff will get stronger each week you enter the turns, so if one week you decide to skip T2 (for example), the buff on T2 will remain as it was the week before, and thus get one stack less than every other turn you had cleared for that week.

I have to say i enjoy 1.0 more then i do 2.0 at least that was hard getting darklight was not easy. You could run that dungeon 50 times and not get one darklight. So it made us stay to work for the game. Now it's all about doing 1-5 then have noting else to do for the rest of the week because that all i need is coil items.Quote:

That being said. I would like to see less low level dungeons and more progression. Rehashing old content by slapping some new code into it and then marketing it as hard mode doesn't appeal to me, a casual player, anymore than to the player who constantly pushes the limit. In fact.. its kind of insulting. We need more forward challenges, not sideways ones. -

Some of you are missing my point. It matters not if you can replay it under it's original difficulty or turn the echo off. What I am trying to say - is that one way or another it's going to allow everyone to quickly get past turn 5 and onto turns 6 through 9. Turns 6 through 9 will be the next level of progression for an entire 6 months (until the next coil). People will have 4 turns to clear...and then nothing to do for the rest of the week. Yes - you can argue we have that problem right now...but it took a long time to get to that problem (level 1-50, main storyline, relic weapon, ilevel gear farm, turns 1-5, etc.). SE is looking to springboard everyone into this misery of boredom (not just the hardcore).

It's an unsustainable model that gives short term benefits, but is going to look really stupid in the long term.
Say someone comes into the game with the PS4 version. What incentive will they have to run ANYTHING other than what they're forced to run via story mode? Once they've hit 50, finished storyline, the only thing new players will do is run the dungeons that drop the highest item level gear.
CT can be bypassed, along with WP and AK. Why? Because you can go into Turns 1-4 and die until you get the echo buff strong enough to farm the place. Instant item level 90.
The current model is pushing out content every three months, true. But, that content is then almost completely invalidated with the next patch.
Or, say you're a player that has everything at 50, has run through all of the content and decided to take a break from the game for a while.
Say you come back into the game after 2 patches.
What will you do?
You'll check out what content drops the highest item level available.
You'll do any pre-requisites to get access to that content.
You'll do solely that content until you get the highest item level gear for your job(s).
There will be TONS of content that you just won't do. Why? Because it's invalidated. There's no reason to do it. -

Everyone and his mother will farm T2 for 50 tomes in 10 minutes or less, plus loot. The stuff that becomes useless if CT and BC aren't loot-locked are WP, HMHM, CBHM, and PS; additionally, AK and all HM primals become solely a matter of one-and-done for relic quest.Quote:

because you don't need to do all dungeons to make it progression. they are all dungeons for the same tier.
you can choose which ones you want and don't wanna do and get philo's and some myths what you will do is get enough philo/myth gear (mostly philo because you get alot more then myth) to do t1-5 then with t1-5 you will spam for gear till you are i90 then you are good enough for t6-9.
bam progression it all makes sense and everyone ever exaggerates about it.
in the end it isn't about progression its about omg i had to spend 5 months working for my i90 set and they can farm it in 1 day if they choose too. which is a stuck up way to think.
making people waste time and spend weeks and months to progress just to catch up is a pointless mechanic that will kill the game rather then help it. people won't play a game that they know they will never get to see end game content. -

I will say this. While there is a lot of negativity and complaining - the servers seem really crowded. For a while it seemed like the servers were dying a bit but in the last few weeks I've seen a massive turnaround. This is a good thing obviously.
