devs can u hear me

this is not a complaint more of an issue. i been trying to level for some days now.Even with the roullette it still takes way to long to get in as a dps. I think that hey need to add a new tank and healer class and/job. This willl slove the ratio problem. I think that exp points gained should be higher so it can ge new players into endgame content faster. Also, it would help break up the boredom of going back and leveling a alt.Any other suggestions players have woukd be great! keep it clean and infomative .

Took me 13m as a dps to get into a dungeon.

I did some leve's and quested and I have no problems.

They can't do anything about it. In a game based on the holy trinity (tank, healer,dps) where they are all needed for a dungeon you're going to always be waiting in a queue as a DPS until the day comes where 75% of the population plays tanks and healers.

So all I can say is roll a tank. I did and I hardly wait for queues now. I happen to enjoy tanking so it's no big deal.

Unfortunately as has been said, adding more tank and healing classes won't fix the issue, as it's simple pragmatism - tanking and healing in dungeons carries more responsibility, hence it's just easier for a lot of players to just use a DD class where they don't have to think and just hit stuff.

It's not a problem that has an easy fix, other than maybe find some friends and create a pre-made party that overrides the class requirement and enter a dungeon as all DDs? (Before you laugh, it is actually possible, albeit it would be more difficult, but it can be done - I main healed Toto-Rak as a SMN in a pre-made party for instance, but in that particular case we still had a proper tank).

There are always alternatives, but like much in life, they may require extra effort on your part to undertake.

Tanking in the dungeons is beyond easy. Roll a tank. I heal and tank. I find healing in this game super boring but tanking is fun. You are the solution to your own problem OP.

Why do people think adding a new tank class (for example) will solve anything... Any relief to Queue times that would have would be negligible. If you add another tank class it's not going to make a bunch of people switch their roles as a dps to go play it.

I gotta ask. Is it too hard to type two additional characters and spell waiting properly? Likewise it is four extra characters to spell you're properly. This is not an SMS box where character count could kinda matter. There is a difference between lazy and efficient and that is just lazy.

Iv never had any probs getting exp just do fates when waiting or other stuff

You can add a million tanking and healing classes, and still those who don't want to tank or heal, wont tank or heal.

It's funny when someone suggests more tanking jobs so someone else can play them.

I've leveled all roles. With DPS roles it's just important to use your leve allowances and fill out that hunting log. Can help as well to have a decent FC or an LS or two that you can enlist low level help from. Basically just make good use of the 20ish minutes or so you might be waiting for that queue. Heck sometimes I switch to another low level class to work in THAT Hunting Log or do leves for THAT class. The class that's my primary focus gets all my low level and guildhest roulettes as well.

Well... I mean I would level a 3rd tank if there was another Class available to level... and that would get me back into low level dungeons and roulette and temporarily(?) alleviate the issue. For all of the week or two it'd take people to level it...

People on a tank just outpace other people when it comes to EXP. We can survive fine in FATEs alone, we can clear dailies and leves easily, we have fast dungeon queue times and more EXP benefits.

The roulette itself is counter intuitive from a leveling standpoint because it offers more EXP to less in-demand roles. Meaning the people on Tanks/Healers blast up through levels exponentially faster - leaving a ever larger pool of DPS behind.

Still your point is quoted for truth. Just adding another tank doesn't mean you'll have more tanks... just more variety.

I think they ought to make the roulette give a double bonus to DPS classes so they're not being left behind so easily by their counterparts.

At the start of 2.0 when everyone was leveling anarchist because that was the only job most people didn't have at 50 you could take 4 arc in a dungeon and clear it. had 1-2 people use topaz carbuncle while the other people used the emerald carbuncle.

^ This, and those who don't tank or heal probably can't dps either. When we get an official parser it will be a day of reckoning for the bads.

I do lowbie DR almost every day on tank, and I've got both at 50 =\ You get a gil bonus if you're at 50 since you can't get xp boosts. This kinda thing, while it might not be enough for everyone, is exactly what DR is designed for. It's to give the lesser in demand jobs an INCENTIVE to do it, xp or other reward.

That's probably why we'll (most likely) never get one.

edit: If a 3rd tank was released, it'd just be an offshoot of the current tank classes and would be insta-50 for anyone who plays tank roles. I doubt if people that don't want to tank would be drawn to....another tank job. Sure you'd have a few that would, but from sheer tank/healer/DD ratios, not much would change. A tank is a tank is a tank is a tank after all.

I like the suggestions in other threads about making dungeons that takes 3 or more DPS with 1 tank and 1 healer. That 1 or more DPS that will be placed in a party with the same amount of tanks and healers.

I don't think the extra tank or healing classes would help for the reasons other posters have said (though I'd like to see them anyway just to play new classes!). I agree with the responsibility thing, the only thing that's going to lower DPS queue times is to either somehow get more people queuing as tanks/healers (Extra tomes? Guaranteed drops? It'd have to be substantial and not just a new mount like I heard SE was floating) OR let more DPS in groups.

Unless you somehow have dungeons without tank or healers being necessary, we have an obviously large discrepancy between available tank/heals and DPS that's only going to be solved by making DPS slots more available by either increasing the slots or reducing the amount of people queuing as DPS by sending them tank/heals.

I don't see why not. Do you somehow suffer by people levelling up faster? Do you enjoy fate/dungeon grinding a non-story DPS class all the way up to 50 and feel like speeding it up would be problematic?

I like that for most of FFXIV's levelling, if you do the MQ and every single available SQ you'll never be locked out from progressing the MQ....until you hit about the late 30's and then you have to grind out the next half of the level all the way until 50. I'd like those gaps filled in.

I used to think "roll as a tank" was a weak suggestion until I tried it! I was intimidated to try tanking for the first time. Now that I've tried it I really like it! What really helped me was doing instances as a DPS first and learning the mechanics of the dungeons. There are a lot of pro's and con's. The pro's are short queue times, setting your own pace for the instance, getting up close and personal with the enemies, and did I mention shorter queue times! The con's ........you need a thick skin. Because you are out in front any mistakes tend to be obvious to everyone and sometimes the "advice" can be a little rough. If the battle goes south you will be blamed! I try to learn from the comments, even the rude ones!As far as leveling your DPS character there is already good advice in this thread!Especially to do the daily roulettes and your Hunting Log. Dungeons,dungeons, the exp adds up fast and you will learn your class/job better than grinding out fates. I gear toward the tank side of things and in FFXIV, it's much easier a job than it was in WoW. Pull off a few OPs/Flashes at the start and then throw in another one or two depending on how long the fight goes (or after each combo if you've got one of those accursed Bane-using Summoners making me actually have to put in effort, the asshats) and you're good to go. Just need to know the fights and there are plenty of youtube dungeon guides that'll tell you exactly what to do if you don't know the fight.

I'd say the problems I do have, and I usually don't have many, are:

1. People totally ignoring the numbered order of things.
2. People insisting on pulling first instead of me to 'speed things up' even if I'm pulling pretty immediately after each fight and
3. The one time I had a bard (isn't it always a bard?) start pulling stuff on his own and in groups, then call the healer and DPS crappy when they couldn't handle it quickly enough. This was in a DF group so if he wanted a speed run, he should've made his own group or at least floated the idea at the start of the dungeon. Then when I very politely asked him to stop, he got super pissy about it.

99% of the time when I do encounter these problems, which aren't common but not exactly rare, they'll stop them if I politely ask them to stop. I've only ever had that one problem in the many many runs I've tanked here over the months and you're just going to occasionally have that person who, if they are ever even slightly disagreed with or asked to alter their playstyle even once, will go absolutely nuts on you no matter how respectful you are.

Aside from that, I never got any of the horror stories I typically hear about being regularly blamed for failures. Maybe it's because I'm a consistently decent tank or I'm always open to reasonable suggestions, but the vast majority of times everybody's very polite to me in the DF groups I've tanked.
