Make FSHing more like FISHing

It could be a bit more like Crafting in that you could have a Distance measure (opposite to progress, when a fish hooks you want to reel it back in…it’ll fight you increasing distance away, if it reaches max you lose the fish)… and utilize techniques to help your odds of baiting HQ fish (chum, drift, jig, troll, & etc… perhaps differentiate it from crafting in that you couldn’t 100% HQ, maybe cap at 50% with the remaining 50% left to chance).
As it is currently, FSHing is pretty lame... there's a ton of potential currently built into the game to make FSHing amazing & honestly... it wouldn't be too difficult. I just handed you the tools, now: make a few reel-models/icons, create a few simple abilities plus their animations, a couple UI elements, & you're done.
Bait/tacklebox is a must, even low level baits can be useful at high levels.
Yeah, a bait or tacklebox is a must.
When I'm out and about doing other stuff I might not even be thinking of fishing at first. But then I end up near water and think I'll do a little fishing. Well carrying all the baits is a nightmare. Some told me at higher levels you don't need the lower ones.
But if you decide you want to get a certain type of fish/coral, there are certain baits that are the best, the higher level baits just bring other things in.
Even the level one ocean bait lugworms has it's uses at much higher levels. Wanna catch Silver Sharks? One of the best places is Cape Westwind (time of day maybe important). The only low level fish there that take that bait are goby. Get an hq goby and mooch. You then you either get a Sliver Shark or a Wahoo.
I don't necessarily go out just to fish at a certain spot, I like to roam and not be restricted to carrying a small subset of bait some I how room for stuff I catch. But carrying all of it takes up almost an entire precious page of inventory lol.
Other times I need specific fish/coral for crafting. I do plant that ahead of time and can limit the bait I carry for those circumstances...
As it stands now GP is useless to fisher.
GP isn't used by fishers, at least not yet. But they have it. Hopefully in the future it will have some use that adds a little more depth fishing.
I'm not a lvl 50 fisher yet, but I crafted all my lvl 50 gear ahead of time. Nome of it has GP added, except the gloves which add three. Probably an accident lol.
