DF Roulette and Bonus Reward

Dev teams' thoughts on changing reward bonus to classes that have to sit around for 30+ minutes waiting for a group to form (DPS mostly) from the instant queue tank/healer jobs? I understand the bonus is there to get people to join as the classes that are in most need, but it's bonus enough to be insta-queued for duty I think.

Let's toss those that sit around and wait the longest a little extra exp or rewards please?

Instant que? I have to wait like 18 minutes on my healer and now I have to wait 2 minutes on my tank. That aint instant!

The system isn't designed to reward tank or healers but motivate people to play unpopular roles. If they move the bonus to those that wait the longest you will notice those 10-30min queues reverting back to 30-90mins like they were in 2.0

Could work if they scale the exp reward with he amount of time you spend waiting for the queue pop and replacing the most demand specs with more vanityish rewards. Like the player commendation achievements, Everybody loves fast queues "Finish 300 dungeons while playing a high demand job reward: white magitek armor"

I'm not so sure, right now my DF: Hard has a reward bonus of 750 gil.... that's hardly something to make me want to change to healer to get the 750 gil.
Fact is right now I could log on my paladin and do 2 instances in the time it would take me to wait for 1 to form/finish on my BLM. In effect, paladin gets twice as much exp (leveling) or playtime (lvl 50).
The fact you have to wait a fraction of the time to play as Tank and Healer (sometimes healer) should be reward enough. Toss us poor saps that sit around for 30 minutes to play our dragoon a bone here.

It might also help if they totally removed the daily restriction to the bonus reward. At the moment most people just do the 1 random daily roulette for the bonus and then go on to queue up for the highest possible dungeon they can to get the most xp per mob they can. Something like this is very likely to draw more people into the system.

The fact that you play a job you like rather than a job people need should be reward enough :p

So you want to give a bonus to the role with the highest queue so more people join in as that role to increase the queue?

You can level up a crafting class or gathering class while you wait in the queue. A tank can't do it.

Yes, and no. If you think the 750gil bonus reward is going to cause a huge spike in queue times you most likely are dead wrong. Take the negative elsewhere, no real logic can support your claim that queue times will rise drastically.
I have i88 paladin and during the entire time playing I have never once joined a group thinking, 'Man, I better take paladin or I'll miss out on that extra gil!'
The argument of what the rewards are, and what they should be, is a separate one all together. Who they go to on the other hand, the reward should go to the person that has the hardest time getting a group, not the people that have the easiest.

I like paladin, I like bard, I like black mage; I also like pizza, and hot wings, and cold beer... I certainly do not want this combination every time I go out to eat though, there's nothing wrong with me not wanting the same thing every time I run an in-game instance.

I haven't seen a roulette go over 10 minutes in weeks now, as a Damage Dealer (mainly BLM and Monk these last few weeks). Queing for a specific dungeon takes somewhat longer (5 to 30 minutes) but it's still a huge improvement from before the roulette system was implemanted. I was used to 45 minutes being a quick queue during the first months of the game...

Does anyone REALLY need even more exp boosts in a game where leveling is this fast? Get a grip people.

Well if you like to play Paladin, you don't need the bonus reward and you said 750 gils are not much.
Give them to me then every time you log as a Tank in DR :p

started leveling my bard last week, average wait in DF / DFR are 30+ mins everyday.......

What they shoud is reward tanks and healers even more. Right now is not enought.

Forget about 750 gils, give 10,000 and people will play tanks and healers roulettes to get money, and no one will have to wait more than 10 min to go in.

The thing is, that 750 gils for have to deal with a low level dungeon were very often we find players that refuse to talk at all and will just do everything quite bad (Not always, of course, but the danger is there) is not enough. Takes time (30-90 min) and your only reward once you are lvl 50 is... Those gils and 10 mithos the first time. Not enought. You are better doing any high level dungeon without roulette with party finder. Just find other 3 guys to do it and you'll finish it before, probably get more money (from mobs), same repair cost, and more mithos and philos (Wich can be used to earn gils too)

The problems is that the roulette bonus right now is useless for being too low that no lvl 50 will do the dungeon for it. Of course, some people will do it because they like it or they want to help, but not for the bonus.... So, bonus is not enought.

It's really not, I don't bother with the roulette at all honestly and I play tank and healer. I spam CT for my weekly loot and by time my piece drops (because all the drops is mnk,bard, and blm gear /wrist)I'm at myth cap. Too many ways to get philos so why bother doing some boring low level dungeon where I can't use any of my skills. ._.

In my opinion the rewards are made for fomenting the tanking and healing... And it works. It is my case that everyday I do the roulette I join with my marauder or gladiator, until the point my marauder became my main class and eventually I even enjoy it...

But I guess it depends of opinions and tastes, for example when the reward is for a healer in guildhests, I may take healer because is short thing. But a low level roulette... No, I can't imagine myself using healer more than ten minutes.

About the 30 minutes or more when being a DPS... Well. I hunt FATES or craft when waiting. Also you can do with a friend or FC member the smame this noob does... One dungeon your friend uses tank or healer and you DPS, the other dungeon vice versa. That way in party the duty comes fast for a DPS.

The current rewards offered to tanks and healers to help do roulettes, is just way too low, if you look at it from a risk vs reward perspective. 750gil doesn't cover the cost in repairs, so you are losing money if it's a wipe-fest of a group. You aren't promised player commendations because even if you made the group happen by playing a much needed role, the majority of the time it goes to other roles. You also have to deal with epeen players that tell you how to do your job, in which upon inspection they don't even have a 50 tank/healer. The cons vastly outweigh the pro's for the current roulette setup.

The only roulette that is worth it is guildhest. They are fast, easy gil, not a high repair cost. The player commendation issue still happens but at least you don't have to spend 30min to an hour not getting a player commendation for your efforts.

If it were bonus enough to be insta-queued we'd be flooded with tanks and healers, not DPS.

Just give a bonus reward proportionnal to the lack there is. Here, problem solved.

If there is such a throttle in tanks that dps and healer need to wait 30 min to get a queue, give 10k bonus to tanks. Tanks get in, queue get reduced to 5 min for healer/dps ? 500 gils bonus to tanks. So many tanks got in that now healer is the throttle and tank have to wait 10 min ? Give 2k to healers. So many tanks and healers than now dps have an instant queue ? Not going to happen no matter what.

i try to do the guildhest roulette every day just because it's so fast to get done, although it is annoying how you get the same ones all the time. idk if people actually enjoy the same crap over and over or are just too lazy to take the time to unlock the higher level hests. but i digress.

i do feel like the bonus gil reward for the dungeon roulettes are too low considering the time it takes to do them. i would say at least 2-2.5k would be more incentive.

I think the bonus reward class should just change everyday .. its always tank when I log in . lets just randomize it or something its not making more tanks Que up anyways..

I think it's more that after a certain point, they're just not worth doing, even with how quick they are. Around level 25-30, I start wondering why I bother queuing for hests at all (even with only doing them via roulette).

I like the idea of achievements leading to unique rewards for in-demand roulette roles. The only way gil or seals or tomes is ever going to entice me to tank roulette is if it's so stupidly large that it (further) breaks the economy/progression. But if there are rewards I can only get by doing roulette as an in-demand role? Then yes, I will tank Sastasha some more.

If anything needs to change the current rewards need to be increased. Last I checked my 37 pld gets a whopping 3k exp for doing randoms, that's like 3 monsters tops

Doesn't really solve the issue for people at level 50 but are people who level just sitting around doing nothing and waiting for the que? Personally I spam escort and collection leves while I wait for que and normally i can get about 50-75% of a full level (in the 30s) before my que pops. If you're not doing leves while you wait for que (those 2 types literally take 1 minute if you ignore monsters and run for it) then you're doing it wrong.
