Nobuo Uematsu ever gonna do more tracks for ffxiv?
i don't believe Uematsu is still involved in XIV
I hope he makes some featuring tracks for the expansion.
So many good tracks i've fallen in love with over the years.
Yeah I'm hoping for this too, possibly when an expansion hits. I think he did that with the first couple of FFXI expansions, so maybe we'll get lucky :)
I hope not...I like tracks that's longer than a 30 second loop.
Uematsu had no connection to any of FFXI's expansions, other than some of the tracks for Chocobo raising and racing. He only worked on the original game (and then only a few tracks, namely Memoria di la Stona, Ronfaure, Distant Worlds, the Crystal Prelude and Dash de Chocobo. Most of FFXI's soundtrack was composed by Naoshi Mizuta with some tracks by Kumi Tanoika.
As for ARR, a while ago I remember Yoshi mentioned Uematsu will be returning to compose on ARR in the future, but it's unclear when that will be. In any event, ARR features a lot of his tracks from 1.0 returning, which are all available on Before Meteor, which is enough for now for me. :)
considering how they got rid of pretty much all of his music I wouldn't be surprised if we never hear a new song from him for ARR
I really hope so but yoshida time ago said he spoke with uematsu for a possible future collaboration.
It would be sweet to have different composers every patch/expansions.
So i'm thinking to have also mitsuda and sakimoto in the project.
Nobuo Uematsu makes soundtracks for Final Fantasy games.
Not for WoW spinoffs.
There's no Mozart playing in fastfood restaurants either.
I like Soken too, all of ARR's music I like (except CCH. So gloomy..)
"Answers" the opera/music from the "End of an Era" video (the prolouge of V1 getting blasted by Bahmut) was an Uematsu peice, i think he came back and did that anyway - also to be fair The Crystal Theme (title/start screen) and the FF Anthem are his works too.
I really hope he does come back to Square for XIV and XV in the future :D (hint: SE please throw as much money as he wants at him, you know he's worth it! :p )
He did a lot more that that - a lot of his tracks that are used in ARR came from 1.0's OST, although a number of Uematsu's compositions have also been arranged by Masayoshi Soken.
Incidentally, from what I've been able to work out, this is most, if not all, the known track titles from 1.0 that have also returned in ARR's OST that were directly composed by Nobuo Uematsu:
Primal Judgement - Ifrit Primal Battle theme, as well as the battle theme for the SMN Job quest line against Ifrit-Egi.
Nemesis - final boss theme for most instanced dungeons
Pennons Aloft - battle theme for certain solo instanced battles
Steel Reason - battle theme used for instanced story battles against the Tribuni
Answers - appears during the 'opening demo' trailer in abridged form (if you leave the title screen on idle for too long), and inthe ending credits
Tranquility - appears in certain quest cutscenes, usually involving the Scions of the Seventh Dawn
Where the Heart is - appears in certain cutscenes
Without Shadow - the Ascian theme, fittingly it features in cutscenes involving them, as well as the level 15 story battle theme against the gargoyle and the 'masked mage'
Supply and Demand - appears in at least one cutscene for the PGL quest line (it was the old Market Ward theme from 1.0)
By Design - used during certain crafting guildleves
The Echo - used during certain cutscenes, usually fittingly involving the Echo
Nature's Bounty - used during harvesting guildleves
Whisper of the Land - used during the opening cutscene for a new player starting in Gridania (it was one of the old themes for the Black Shroud in 1.0)
On Windy Meadows - used during the opening cutscene for a new player starting in Limsa Lominsa (it was one of the old themes for La Noscea in 1.0)
Twilight Over Thanalan - used during the opening cutscene for a new player starting in Ul'dah (it was one of the old themes for Thanalan in 1.0)
Daring Dalliances - used during certain cutscenes
Imperial Will - used during certain cutscenes involving the Empire, especially those involving Gaius
Sacred Bonds - used during certain cutscenes
Pitfire - theme for the Zan'rak section of Southern Thanalan
Flightless Wings - theme for the Natalan section of Coerthas Central Highlands
Battle Drums - theme for certain beastmen areas
When a Tree Falls - theme used for certain harvesting guildleves
Bo Down - chocobo theme arrangement used when riding a rental chocobo or the Chocoporter
Opening Theme - used ironically during the(it was the version of Final Fantasy that was used in 1.0 on character creation)'Meteor Survivors' list (Legacy members) in the end credits
The Hero of Hatchingtide - used during at least one story cutscene (this is a chiptune arrangement of the Victory Fanfare used in 1.0, incidentally Hatchingtide is Eorzea's version of Easter)
All Saints Eve - theme used during the Halloween event
Starlight Celebration - theme used during the Christmas event
Behind Closed Doors - the Innroom theme
Into the Arms of Althyk - the 'goodnight' theme when logging out via the bed in the Innroom (a variation of the 'victory fanfare')
There are a number of other tracks that are arrangements of Uematsu's tracks done by Masayoshi Soken (such as the variations on the Prelude used on the main title screen and character selection), but I haven't listed those here.
I dont think we need Uematsu tracks, Soken is doing really good...
If Uematsu does music for FFXIV, I hope he brings stuff along the lines of the 1.0 Coerthas theme, the 1.0 Coerthas battle theme, and the original Coerthas leve theme.
I just want FFXIV to do Clash on the Big Bridge justice. Because from what I have seen and heard, some people can make great remixes of that theme, and some can't. Classic is great and should always be emphasized rather than mixed too too much. FFXII's remix was flawed because of this. However, FFXIII-2's remix of the theme was absolutely perfect, as were each of the concert versions.
I'd like, at least, to have an option to select between old and new OST when available.
Revo's way better, I'd prefer those guys doing collab with Soken.
And then there is this Mcdonald's
Also Recollection, which played during cutscenes.
Teeeeechnically we do have some Uematsu music in ARR... Twilight Over Thanalan plays during some cutscenes (which originally played IN Thanalan) and The Dark's Embrace/The Dark's Kiss in Haukke/Copperbell HM. Basically whatever they decided to reuse from 1.0.
