Not sure if serious.
The last thing I want for this game is for it to be FFXI-2. Not has it already been done, but I didn't particularly enjoy the first iteration of it. FFXIV has the potential to be a much, much better game if they do it right - and doing it right doesn't involve copy pasta in any form, especially from other games.
While I did enjoy FFXI and felt that it was a very good game and there are aspects of FFXI that I really like... I will say that is this a very very very bad idea. I don't want to replay FFXI, and I felt it was a cop-out on SE's behalf that they basically just reused the FFXI models in FFXIV and on top of it didn't give us at least one or two new races to give it some variety.
FFXI is a good game, but I do not want a FFXI-2... that said I wouldn't mind seeing some aspects from FFXI but a complete copy? I would probably quit the game.
Well seeing how they are remaking all the older nintendo FF's with newer graphics, the same could be done with 11. It would be a hell of a lot better than whatever the hell 14 is supposed to be.
Dumb thread. It's lose/lose for XI players really.
XIV turned out to be shit and way below anyone's expectations but now XI doesn't receive as much attention because they're scrambling to get XIV up to shape.
Same could be said about your post. At least your and my previous post have something in common: Worthless. Have fun.
If they would make a real remake of FFXI I doubt no one will really bother. Maybe for few weeks "Hey look at this place! It's now so beautiful" but then "Everything else is still the same.. why bother?". You don't remake MMOs. It serves no point.
They need to "copy" good elements from their single-player franchise titles if anything (and no I'm not talking about "jobs" and "classes").
They sorta did that in FFXI. Just, you know, with multiplayer and grinding. It still had:
-Linear cutscene driven story
-"Limit breaks"
-Cid
-Dungeons with door locks/puzzles/shenanigans and a boss at the end
-Rich lore (Something the non-Ivalice games lacked)
-Great characters
-Well designed world
-Excellent series of storylines
-Optional quests
-Actual Final Fantasy stuff (Chocobo racing, summons, etc.)
- NO - simple as that, I'm not here to play FFXI-2, they can put the good useful features they used in FFXI into FFXIV but clone? No thanks.
- FFXI and FFXIV is programmed differently, like FFXIV using Crystal Tools so it's not as easy to just simply copy/paste code and bam! you got yourself a cool FFXI with new upgraded graphics.
- If you speak of this again, I will smite you with my sweaty subligar...
well ffxi wasn't made for casual play, and this one seems to be going that route. if they trying to get back all the old ffxi players it ain't gonna happen this way. ffxi-2 casual mode isn't what they looking for, it will be ffxi-2 more hardcore mode.
If I was SE, I'd want to tap into the huge fanbase of final fantasy lovers who are either casual or play FF single player console RPGs (See 6 million people)...
And TBH, it's not like they didn't warn us of that from day 1... from the very first interview, they said this game would be very accessible to casual gamers
The single-player titles had challenges appealing to both casual and "hardcore" audiences, without dumbing down the intuitive and engaging gameplay in the process. Good story-telling is essential to any good RPG (though the stagnant gameplay and lack of real content in FFXIV surely detracts from what is present).
/disagree
I wish they had kept the game under the title "Rapture" or whatever code word they used.... so that all these stupid-ass, whiney FF fanboys would piss off with their Black Mages, Paladins, Chocobos and other asinine unimportant drivel. Make the game fun first. Appeal to the pissy basement dwellers last.
I quitted ffxi, why i should play the same game again ? <_<
i don't think offline final fantasy really has anything u can call hardcore to them, something like maybe demon souls was frickin crazy but even like ff13, pretty much everyone beat the game same times for most part, only thing that seperates it is doing trophy's, or things like 5stars on nm kills. but even then u go threw all the nm's the first time, then u don't really go back to that nm for 5star till your max level. but either way i'm more talking about challenging content not so much as time consuming crap. ffxiv seems to just be giving away there gears and making every step we have taken in this game just way easy and unchallenging at all and i am thinking it will stay like this.
I'd love FFXI-2, but I don't really want XIV to become FFXI-2. I do want XIV to give me the same "Wow this is fucking awesome I'm going to play this everyday" feeling that XI gave me though. Then again, maybe XIV won't be the MMO to give me that feeling.
i LOVED FFXI, but i dont want this turd to be FFXI-2.....i want a separate game that is a true FFXI-2, with all the lore and some future setting with a new story and such. Let FF14 be what it is, its not worth changing that much, not like it will every really come anywhere close to what FFXI was anyways.
So instead of having a part 2 (not the same game fanboys) of a great MMO with improvements or this trash that we have now?
This game would be doing pretty decent right now if it was FFXI-2 but it's not and it's a flop and I doubt it will ever get any better this decade.
I find the whole "XI-2" argument boils down to:
-Basic systems, like a fully functioning linkshell system.
-Basic search systems. XI's was extremely basic and could have been expanded upon for XIV.
-Suitable Party system. Even though XIV's focus was solo, party based content and grinding would have been suitable.
-Client side interface. Speaks for itself >.>
-Content base. While it's a new game, they could have had the content concepts there, e.g the Assault system ontop of the guildleve system would have been great.

What we need is Dissidia Chocobo Fantasy Factory-2: The Moogles Within.
Hey, come on. It would be counternature if a numbered Final Fantasy game was like another one, rite?
As far as I know, every Final Fantasy is different from each other.
In before Same classes, I don't see anything wrong about it, as long as the story is different.
I'm too awesome to post on topic of this thread, that's because my opinion has a bigger pull than anybody else who has an opinion that is similar or different from mine. I am so awesome, my 1 gil is worth more than your 1 gil.
I wouldn't say direct copy of FFXI but their is no denying that FFXI had some great ideas and SE would be wise to look into the things that people loved about FFXI and then build on them to make them even better.
Take FFXI as a game model:
its mechanics - its combat, its classes, its levels, its stats, its crafting - everything that is involved in the actual gameplay...
And just transplant it into an entirely new world in terms of lore, story, geography (along with updated graphics)
Wouldn't be so bad at all in my opinion :D
Would certainly have been a good starting point at least, better than simply throwing away almost everything, regardless of whether it worked or not.
I'd play XI-2.
Does it have to be XI? Can we ruin one of the others, FFVII-2 Online!!!
Copy everything ffxi had before wing of the godness make everything change it up make it better and fun put it on ffxiv congreats you have the best mmo and every one from ffxi would quit for it.
