Please tell us exactly how accuracy works...

With the way combat logs work it is nearly impossible for us to figure this out on our own.

If I go full allagan on my monk my accuracy would fall very low. Why? Are we confused and we don't actually need very much accuracy for coil? Did you design some coil gear sets to not even work in the instance where you got them?

Is there a reason why primals appear to require almost no accuracy? Do you want us to waste large amounts of stats on our gear on accuracy that is nearly useless outside of coil?

Why is it that smn/blm appear to need less accuracy than the other dps and tanks? Does accuracy work for physical damage similar to the way it has in other games where special attacks and auto attacks use different accuracy numbers?

Is it really possible to reach 100% hit rate or is there some percent chance we can never go over?

What effect does difference in monster level vs player level have on accuracy? How does this fit in with bosses in CT/HM/EX/Coil?

Is there a reason Bards where given a debuff to reduce evasion which appears to be nearly useless?

In all my time playing MMOs I have never run into someone who didn't want to improve their gear... even if it was just a tiny increase. Currently the unknown that is accuracy is restricting the min/max game that so many of us actually like doing. Please for the love of whatever primal you worship tell us how this works.

That's why they don't tell you; so you spend more time trying to figure it out. And thus more time playing and paying. Squee has always been notoriously closemouthed about the nuts and bolts of game mechanics in FFXI. I don't expect them to be any different here.

Why tell something that is quite simple, actually?

There is no accuracy cap in a sense. These so called accuracy caps are the values you need to never miss in coil. Enemies have Magic Evade and Physical Evade values and your hit rate is based on your accuracy compared to enemy's evade values. Primals just have little Evade, but they are also very big (of course a big enemy has less evade). Players also have evade values, but they are hidden and only increase by leveling up (PGL has Featherfoot to buff it up for a few seconds).

I'm more concerned of how values like Parry and Crit rate are handled in future. You can't just make it so you eventually have 100% on both and any increase in future is pointless.

i guess they should just remove all the numbered stats in the equipment description, and replace it with stronger/weaker lol

The whole point of making all of our stat values raw numbers and not percentages etc. Is to provide for diminishing returns curves and value re-adjustments with level increases etc. Nobody likes watching their current gear get weaker, but everyone likes bigger numbers, so obfuscating what's happening behind a (meaningless) raw number lets them please people when level caps go up or lateral expansion content is added rather than pissing them off, even though they're really doing the same thing (Reducing the actual value of your existing gear through making better gear available even if the improvements are miniscule in lateral content or possibly relative reductions in effectiveness in the case of a level cap raise)

i think it's pretty straight forward... the only thing you really need accuracy for is the coils and even so with the right amount of myth/allagan armor you can hit that and even if you haven't hit it you're just close it's quiet a high success rate... i wouldn't worry too much but yeah the evasion move is pointless for bed unless you're fighting mobs alone lol...

For me, FFXIV graphics is a big incentive in playing the game. Which means it saddens me that we are sometimes forced to wear something just for its accuracy.

I would really love to see that the accuracy requirements be adjusted so that the visible pieces can always be chosen regardless of its accuracy value. This can be done by ensuring that there are sets of belts and accessories of comparable item level that will cap your accuracy for each set (AF+1 and Allagan).

Those who want to min-max on other secondary stats will have to choose pieces based on those, but those who value the looks can still get that consistent look without gimping our accuracy.

Of course, my wishes would be fulfilled if we have that vanity system already...>"<

pretty sure all of you said only place you need accuracy is in the coil right?

and he said he has alot less with his monk gear....now i havent actually checked the stats on coil MNK gear compared to myth gear

Nobody but a dev can tell him WHY accuracy on gear is configured as they are now.

yeah i know...but still...its just funny nobody said anything about it and stated you need more accuracy for coil

but yet...hes talking about having less from coil gear....now that doesnt make any sence if its tru...you would think

that with every1 saying you need more...you would get more from the place you get it from to make that end game eaiser

unless there are other stats that nul the reason to have so much acc like making him like sonic and hes just hitting that much

faster that missing a few times gets made up for how many punches the guy gets to throw...but like i said....i didnt

You're forgetting that currently we actually get more armor pieces than Allagan from the Binding Coil of Bahamut, although they are not dropped. We get Allagan Tomestones of Mithology used to purchase ilevel 90 equipment, which would help you out to get that Acc needed for last turn.

Which is kinda annoying that you have to go mix and match armor sets for turn 5. Which seems counter-productive in regards to the aesthetic designs for the armor sets. Especially with more options to gear up in ilvl 90. EM primal accessories and weapons. We are given these options that we cannot use because of the mandatory accuracy needed. eg BRDs Zenith and the EM bow. The EM bow has better stats for DPS but the Zenith has the needed acc. Yes you can increase acc other ways, the CT legs for example have acc and the myth pants dont. So you losing on another there.

My solution would be to make accuracy not count towards the point allocation for gear. Or allow 1 materia to be added to ilvl 90 gear. Even if that Materia is a special kind thats only available from coil or from myth.

Min/maxers are the bane of most MMOs, anything that prevents it is a Good Thing IMO. You don't need detailed battle mechanic mathematics to know how to improve, as SE have clearly said in recent replies on this subject.

The question is: Why does coil drops the best gear in the game, but doesn't have the stats (ie accuracy) needed to use said gear in the games hardest content?

The should redo the ACC gear stat, and include it on all pieces but not have it count that items stat allotment. That way, DL would have enough ACC to start coil, then after a few drops you would have enough ACC to T5, then once you got full allagan/myth you would have enough ACC for T6 when it comes out...

When has it been said that coil gear is supposed to be the best for all situations?
Pretty sure you CAN complete coil in full AF+1 or full Allagan. Mixing gear for optimal stats just makes it easier/allows for more errors.

Players already have accuracy figured out. I'd rather have tooltip numbers for crit rate and parry rate.

Haha. The sad part is, that's basically what we have now. You can see if a number is higher or lower than what you currently have, but have little idea what difference it will really make.

Coil drops some of the best gear in the game, with the combination of Mythos, Ex Jewelry and Ultima HM. You have to pick and choose what items fits your play style while also hitting 475 Acc to do T4-5.

Some people stress Main Stat > Det > Crit others Main Stat > Crit > Det. It makes each possible gear set less cookie cutter and in the long run makes people look less cookie cutter.

If you look at CT gear which is supposed to be the pre cursor to Coil, a lot of those pieces imo are fillers to get you prepared for Coil. Not to complete a whole set and wear over DL for the reason it is higher iLv.

This game would be insanely bland in terms of gear sets if Coil dropped each BiS gear.

Play how you want to play, if min maxing is you thing then get a parser do it and change what needs to be changed in order to accomplish your goal.

Me on the other hand. Don't give no f as far as accuracy iI'll use acc that have them but when I get full coil gear on my tank that's what I am wearing regardless of stats because, one I earned it, two it supposed to be the best in the game, and three anyone who makes a set of armor the hardest to achieve but not the best fails at design.

Yes monk allagan gear is REALLY low on acc...

No you can't use parsers to test accuracy because they still screw up. Two people running the same parser, in the same raid, will get different results and that includes accuracy.

SE won't tell us how what secondary stats do exactly (like accuracy or crit%) because then we would realize how poorly designed the whole system is.

I really hope they, at the very least, redesign how they assign accuracy on gear. Atm its clearly just randomly assigned and there is almost no thought put into the secondary stats on items in this game.

For 2.2 and i100/110 gear I hope they force accuracy on every piece of coil gear while putting no accuracy on any piece of myth gear. In this way you can use (and probably prefer) AF2 gear for non-raid content while actually using raid gear for raiding, each set has its own use for the content it comes from.

I would be cool with that. Even better would be adding acc to the raid gear but not having it count as a stat. That way Raid gear is as good in and out of the raid and the stuff from outside the raid isn't. Of course then they would need to fix the drop rates on gear because I have been in coil for months but only have 5 pieces of allagan.

I think the third stat for gear should be based on materia. Get rid of the third stat, add a materia socket, and let us use materia for w/e stat we want on it. Disallow overmelding on non crafted gear.
