Party finder ilevel restrictions

I've been noticing that players are setting high item level restrictions in party finder to get carried in fights like titan HM. Devs should update the party finder so either the party leader can't set an ilevel above their own, or a person can see the ilevel of every person in that party before they join. The point of party finder is to find a party, not lure a bunch of people to carry some weak player through content that they can't complete.

Unlikely to happen considering how much of a handicap people seem to need to succeed at anything even slightly challenging in this game.

They should remove the average item level.

It's sad so many people still thinks they can brute force their way though this game...

No. It's fine as is.

I've seen people use pvp, all class, etc accessories to meet the minimal lvl req for titan hm. At least in pf I can help alleviate SEs horribly low lvl req for that and other fights.

that another trouble, there we are talking of the ridiculous Ilevel asked by people... like ask for an Ilevel 85 for ultima or mog. and is not the only trouble, i have seen more and more group with 3 black mage and with one bard as dps, or 3 bard with 1 dragoon... still while asking an ilevel far over what it's really needed for finish it.

i admit the ilevel recquired in the DF is way too low for some defy or dungeon.... but, the new system have lead to some pretty insane abuse. new player will be forced to do it via DF or try to make a party. simply because the ilevel asked or the fact that most of the time people ask to have already kill the boss for be part of the group are simply an huge wall that some people will simply not cross before age or with luck via DF.


i can understand that people want to have the group they want and are free to do whatever they want...sadly, it's not a really good thing for the server, since new player will simply be leaved in a corner and the old player will only play together. i dunno what can be done for reduce this... but i think it will be a trouble, like in WoW or other mmorpg using the ilevel.

if they meet the high ilevel requirement they set, it's unlikely that they're being carried.

I know im a bit off topic but the ilvl requirements should have been higher than what they are now, Not ridiculously high but still.
You mentioned Ultima HM. Its ilvl required is 61, i think it should be 70. Not because its hard ( its not ) but because i find it stupid to have a fight available at ilvl 61 yet rewarding with ilvl 80 items. Same with CT which is even more ridiculous.

If it was me i'd set every ilvl required for endgame instances within a range of 10 to 15 ilvl from what the ilvls of the drops are.

Drops are ilvl 80 ? k, ilvl required should be 70.
ilvl 90 drops ? 80 or 75 required
ilvl 95 drops ? 80+.

Before the ilvl req, I had a bunch of horribly undergeared DPS down the heart on Titan HM. They weren't good enough to avoid wiping on bombs or plumes, but we're talking ilvl50 average for all of them -- two DRGs, a BRD, and a BLM with ilvl55 weapons and ilvl50-60 armor with ilvl40-60 accessories. Competent players meeting the current ilvl requirement can clear it handily.

That's just it. They have this requirement because they're bad players and need to be carried.

I think it's worst seeing many bad players who think they can go into tough fights with bad gear. I should know I dfed Titan hm for a month.

They aren't horribly low. All the fights can be done at the ilvl SE placed. It's not impossible but the difficulty is bumped to the point that leaves little leeway for messing up which is why players do it or ask for higher ilvls to overgear the instance. And I hope you realize people bump up their ilvl with accessories from other classes as well for the higher ilvl reqs that some PFs set, like using tank stuff on a caster.

I see this all the time, especially with the extreme primals, even sent tells to the leaders asking if i could join there i90 extreme titan when i was only 67 and they said i was "to weak".

So I set up my own party of almost everyone being i67, it took about 5 hours cause absolutely no one had any idea wtf they where doing, and we where all noobs. But we all stayed, learned, and won.

The fact that we won must of been a mistake on SE's part because clearly the only ppl that are able to beat titan extreme are ppl that have a ilv. of 90 or above, right?

Damm 5 hours, maybe they set a higher level to avoid taking so long.

Also most parties won't last an hour before players start leaving.

That's the point though, the system does not require the creator to meet the level they set. Also for reasons beyond what I can fathom the max iLVL goes up to 200, but perhaps they are planning ahead.

nah that was taking ppl that had no clue how to do the fight and no skill what so ever, now i can do it with 67's in about 10 minutes or so.

This was a pretty common occurrence in WoW, you'd always see people spamming for parties of people who were way overgeared for content. I guess it's natural that people choose the path of least resistance.

In this case it's how the players are using the tool's given to them. your always going to have "that guy" that wants to get carried through "whatever" and use the tools available to do so. It is a good feature and a way to limit who joins you "if you create the party you have that right". Me, personally I will take a group of minimum geared folks to Titan or other HM content, I completed this content with practically the bare min when the game first came out; I know they can. As long as they are willing to listen and follow instructions, that the most OP thing in any game, not overstacking a group, its cooperation and communication. Example: when I first beat Titan HM it was on a Saturday morning; I hooked up with a bunch of guys in Toll in a shout party and no one had defeated it in the group, we all had patience and communicated with one another and after about 1.5 hrs of tries we downed it.

If all available groups with openings are over your average item level, why not start one I bet your not the only one with a lower average that are looking to do "whatever" as well.

I'm all in for not letting the party leader set an iLvl higher than its own. It annoys me entering some party with an iLvl80+ requirement and having the leader in AK gear.

Just leave the party if you see that the leader is lower ILevel than he set. That's not acceptable and I personally would never set an ilevel requirement that's not at least a few levels below my own (unless my own is really the lowest reasonable ilevel and it's just to learn a fight)

While I agree that skills are more important than gear, that some requirements are way overkill for the content, and that I also find that the more important pieces like body and legs should be worth more in the average balance of the ilvl, I don't see why anyone would want to have less freedom to chose who they want in their party.

If the party leaders who set those high requirements can't find people in reasonable time, they will lower the requirements, the market law appplies there too. If they find people, we can't really complain, they make parties for their needs, not ours. And if he's here to get carried, leave his party.

It's their party, it's their rules for joining really. I understand they may be aiming to overshoot the content, or even ensure players have the metal to meet the challenge of the content they are seeking. But none the less that's how they want to do it. Nothing wrong with it if people are willing and are able to meet the demands they have set.

There's been a couple people on my server who is putting CT ilvl up pass ilvl78.

sure OP have fun joining titan hm in party finder with ilvl requirements of sub 60, theres nothing better than carrying those newbies who doesn't have a clue of how the fight goin on amirite?

People can make whatever rules they want for their groups, if you don't like it join another or make your own. Be the change you want to see.

I see it as a dev oversight.

On topic: I personally agree that the ilvl requirement set by the creator shouldn't exceed past his/her own average ilvl. It makes sense and would be fair to the people joining up said PF group.

Off topic on ilvl: My thoughts runs along the lines that content can certainly be completed at the minimum ilvl, but you have to be spot on to the T with all the mechanics. Very little, if any, room for error. The higher you shoot above the average ilvl, the greater the margin of error for most mechanics (notice I said most, and not all). i.e. Faster completion times for dps checks, greater capacity to soak up damage, healers can heal for more, etc. Asking for ilvl 78 in a minimum ilvl 50 is just asking for an easy run with 0 challenge.

its easy to bypass the ilvl check, just equip ilvl90 accessories (even if it's not for your class), join into the party, then switch back.

Well just because the system can be cheated, doesn't mean we shouldn't work towards improving the system.

Forcing an iLv check every time the setting is changed will work towards improving the system.

I agree with these two statements, the party leader shouldn't be exempt from the requirement. It's important to remember that accessories are a fraction of the upgrade an item on the left hand side is, so if someone has some i90 and most of it is on the right hand side it really isn't much different from full dl. I still prefer to inspect players rather than rely on a gear score; I want the full story
